Having watched that game tonight can see why Luton got rid. There wide players were fast and effective and their strikers big and strong. As yet I’ve not seen Cornick as any of these things.

No it wasn’t . Just because it didn’t come off doesn’t make it pointless .
We’ll disagree then. That’s fine though.

Cornick cuts inside leaving space for Sykes on the overlap . He’s quicker & better going forward than Tanner especially when we’re behind
That might be the theory but in practice Cornick was dreadful and Sykes was less effective than he was earlier in the game. A pointless substitution.

Williams and James both excellent today. Well done to both of them.

All a bit odd isn't it?
A fixation with one fan and a thread to lay into him.
I listen to the pod and afaic he's opinionated, knowledgeable and can talk City all day - so all the basic ingredients to be on a City podcast.
Whether I agree with him or not (I don't on many things, especially his repeated calls for NP to go) isn't that important. I don't expect, or want to agree with everything the panel say.
Headhunter has previously invited critics of himself and Ian Gay to appear on the pod to challenge them and their views directly.
You can't get fairer than that, but which of those who (mostly) anonymously snipe on here is going to actually put yourselves forward to do it, and put themselves up for similar criticism?
When he's taken the chair in headhunter's occasional absence he does the job very well imo.
The podcast imo has good mix of contributors and opinions and is always worth a listen.
Keep up the good work @headhunter.
Very well said mate.

Blimey four pages on a bloke and City fan most of you don’t like and somehow he’s meant to be the saddo.

Yep I’m/was a doubter. No question about it though, since he’s realised that we didn’t have any wing backs and he went to a back 4 and started playing players in their natural position things have improved immensely. Well done Nige.

Wells was limping when he came over to the fans at the end of the game. Let’s hope he’s not going to miss games. At least now though we have options with Cornick and with AW back.

Very decent 1st half performance.
I would expect a bit more from Coventry 2nd half though.

Had to be Alec Briggs, surely?
That was my thoughts as well. He replaced Thresher in that position.

Fred Ford was manager 1960 to 1967.
Took them up to Division 2 ( championship now ) in 1965 with a 2-0 win over Oldham my second home game . Then had a chance to take them to League 1 with City in the promotion mix but they lost to Southampton, another promotion challenger over Easter , first clash of fans in the East End that day, Finished there promotion push.
Unlucky for Ford, Ayteo retired and left a hole that they didn’t fill and struggled for goals . Struggled the following season and Ford got the sack.It was Dicks who took over in 1967 a struggling side and for the next four or five seasons, battling relegation was the norm .
The first side I saw was Gibson, Drury, Ford, Crowe, Parr, Bartley, Savino, Rogers , Clark, Atyeo, Derrick
No left back?

Really interesting thread for us oldies.
In addition to reminding us all of Fred Ford, delighted to see references to Quigley and Crowe.
Remember seeing Crowe in aCup Tie at .Spurs . One of his first matches in a City shirt.
The most cultured forward I’ve seen play for City, and I am a huge fan of our one great player since Fatty Wedlock, the great John Atyeo.
I was at that game at white hart Lane. Crowe missed a penalty that day at 1 down. Tony Ford who had previously scored about 17 pens on the trot missed and it had to be retaken. Chris stepped up and blasted wide.
A bit later Greaves scored a pen to make it 2-0. -

I was there and the sound as he collided with the ringside seats was horrible. He had been trying all night to send Crowe half way up the Enclosure terracing.
Bad injury, would not normally wish it on anyone but in this case, the "biter got well and truly bitten".
I was there. Horrible player was Monroe. As far as I was concerned he had it coming.

It's when the manager doesn't reach the required standards that the fans, quite rightly begins to question his value to the club.
It's a two way street in respect of trust.
Absolutely spot on.

I wouldn’t even vote. The damage is already too much from previous running of the club under Ashton.
If Pearson went. Who would actually improve things with 0 budget to play with? I don’t think there is one.
WBA changed their manager and with the same players turned it round. It can be done.

Standard Johnson apologist response. Didn’t he himself suggest that he had the ultimate sign off?
Yep. He said it twice when I was there.

Think we might need to go back four second half, to get a better structure.
You’re probable correct but a doubt Pearson will go back 4.

was it? We defended poorly twice and got punished. It wasn’t a great game, but we weren’t shocking at all imho. We created a lot of chances, decent chances, we didn’t take them.
I agree it was far from a shocker.
I thought we were a far better team than Stoke. However they found a way to win a game where we should have got a minimum of one point. The goal on ht was the key point. Without that I think we were comfortable winners.

I lurch between Pearson knows what he’s doing and he’s not got a clue on almost an every other game basis. Part of me thinks that another manager would get more out of the players we have, the other part of me thinks he’s doing ok. I feel that I’m fxxxxxd.

Geoff Eltringham is the joint worst ref in the Champ along with Gavin Ward. Don’t bring Keith Stroud into the conversation, they aren’t fit to lace his boots.
Not using him as the excuse today, two poor goals conceded cost us 3 points, but he loses control of games so easily. You can see why he’d been demoted to lg1/2 this season. You start seeing bad tackles go in because he frustrates both sets of players.
He wasn’t the reason we lost. As you said conceded 2 poor goals.
I’m more concerned about Pearsons subs.
IMHO Scott was dreadful 2nd half. The obvious sub was taking him off moving Weinman forward and bringing on Sykes. Why the hell did he bring on Martin? Absolute waste of time against Stoke CB’s.
Unless Conway was injured why take off your top scorer when you need a goal? I reckon the Stoke CB’s may have tired late on allowing Conway more space.- 1

Boro got an injury time goal unfortunately.
Glad Stoke didn’t come to us off of a win, so them and a Cardiff both dropping points was good too.
Agreed regarding Stoke.
With respect to Boro. I don’t think they’ll be in a relegation battle but I’ve got a feeling that Luton will be having lost Nathan Jones. Based on that today may be a decent result for us.

One of those games where you go in leading at h-t but fear they’ll come out second half firing. They didn’t. First ten mins we took the sting out of the game. We didn’t control it though, but they didn’t either. Needed more quality with our passing and I think we might’ve won four or five.
I thought Sykes did better than Weimann with the ball but they created nothing down his side, whereas Bramall got more joy once Sykes was on.
O’Leary was excellent today, but his kicking was bloody poor. 9 conceded in 9 is v.good with the amount of shots we allow. He was fouled on every corner today too.
Ref deserves credit. Very consistent and good decision making thru the 90.
My view entirely.

Although I was at the Luton game and am called Allan I’d like to confirm that I wasn’t the Alan who made the call.
