Nottingham Forest home 4th round FA Cup match thread
CityCiderEd replied to Jerseybean's topic in Football Chat
A quality winger eg. Liam Millar of PNE, pace, dribbling and ability to deliver a cross would help out Conway no end. -
Tommy is ploughing a lone farrow up front and desperately needs someone around him. For all our good play tonight we are short of quality in the final third.

Always thought Tanner would show so much more with a decent player in front of him. The whole defensive unit were superb tonight

Thought he was excellent tonight.....when you think of the championship refs we usually get he was on another level.

We must be one of the worst teams in the league re our throw in routines. Most receiving players completely static or somebody running fast towards the thrower who when it's thrown to him can hardly turn with it but usually knocking it back to the thrower who has no chance of controlling it. We still have our trump card of throwing it backwards.....even when we're close to their box...... -

Two poor teams on an awful pitch. The only difference is they have a goalscorer, 3 shots since coming on and 2 goals. We desperately need a proper winger (Mehmeti once again a passenger), an out and out goalscorer and creative midfielder. Without further additions we will probably be bottom half finishers. So lacking in quality -
Just to add to the debate re MoL/ DB. When we we had to defend corners or free kicks around the box I was never comfortable with Bents staying rooted to his line leaving defenders to clear from inside the 6 yard box. Max has removed the dread of what I felt with Bents and our defensive record has improved immeasurably.
-
Bentley was an exceptional shot stopper but rarely commanded his 6 yard box and was far worse than Max under the high ball. I think Max is a good keeper behind the 4th best defence in the league. The priority is for a goalscorer, winger and attacking midfielder.....keeper is the least of our worries.

You look at Mehmeti and think that he can play. If his marker shows him the outside he turns and goes backwards or loses it. He doesn't have the pace to go past the full back in a footrace. In fact none of our current forwards are that blessed with pace. -

You could just see it coming. Passing, running off the ball and use of throw ins has been atrocious. That was as bad if not worse than Brum. We were so off it today but hey that's the City way..... -
On their forum a blues fan that didn't go to the match asked what the game was like. The reply was... Bristol City painted two thirds of the ground and Brum painted the other third, and the crowd sat and watched it dry.........

I have to agree again......but if he buries one of those headers we win the game 1-0.....they offered absolutely nothing. -

Would be interesting to have seen the reaction if we'd drawn 0-0 at Watford and won 4-1 tonight...... funny ol game eh. -

Agree with most of your post but if Mehmeti buries one of his 2 headed chances we win that game 1 or 2 nil..... -

Leeds have lost, Ipswich have drawn so what you've said doesn't always happen.... -

I know it's disappointing to not win tonight but.......if Mehmeti buries both his (fairly easy) headers we win the game comfortably. It was a poor game that we never looked like losing but chances like that win the game. -

Apart from Chaplins shot that hit the upright they've shown very little.

Against his former team as well.....nightmare.

What surprises me is that Tommy is really not that quick when up against bigger centre backs marking him, he rarely beats them for pace.....

I was a big critic of Mehmeti but also said that I really hoped he would come good but had my doubts that he was good enough. I was quite prepared to eat a big slice of humble pie which I ate as he was subbed to a deserved ovation. -
He was very good....but his awful pass back towards our box nearly cost a goal.

The subs completely changed the dynamics of the game and got us back on the front foot. Proper championship game tonight that we thoroughly deserved to win....
