  1. That's the sort of balanced and reasoned thinking that has NO PLACE on this forum!
  2. Right, so he's off to Ipswich. He didn't fit in, let's hope we get a good fee and a sell-on.
  3. In some ways, I favour the free market, sink-or-swim approach: it's a risk based judgement. Most promoted teams come straight back down anyway. However, the risk of this is that it creates a situation where 17 PL teams are pretty much safe from relegation, spending their £££ on good players, knowing that the teams coming up may well be cautious about spending, and so become cannon fodder on promotion. Although, that's kind of happening now (see Norwich)
  4. Congratulations to the OTIB team, 25 years makes you positively ancient in the online world!
  5. Interestingly, there was that article in the Post about the positive impact of playing Max and the improved playing out from the back. And remember, Bents and Kalas are besties...
  6. Game abandoned due to a fan racially abusing a player Twitter report
  7. I'm sure AG counts as a hospitality venue, we've certainly been very hospitable to visiting teams recently ?
  8. I remember that game clearly, my word did it ever rain. Chap next to me was moaning that he'd decided not to buy a seat in the main stand, which was £3 more. He had half the stand pi$$ing themselves when he said: "£3!!! I'll spend more than that on Pneumonial tablets!!"
  9. Got the feeling I did, in my first City match - playing for ManUre ?
  10. The government were literally warned about this by not one but two major incident exercises. That's not saying other countries haven't got things wrong - they have - but to say our errors are all down to 'hindsight' isn't correct. The point about death rates is a good one, although the fatuous RTC example is nonsense - the death certificate wouldn't mention COVID if you'd been squished by a bus; no more than it would mention asthma, or diabetes.
  11. The Germans soon caught us up on vaccines. And their case rate has been very, very low compared to ours, then shot up - ours has been around 40k per day for weeks.
  12. When were we "75% double jabbed" when they were "just about getting going"? And I think you'll find most of continental Europe has overtaken the UK in vaccination rates.
  13. It is always - and was always - only a minority who caused bother. Thankfully. I think the point made in the report about treating really high-profile games as a separate level of risk is probably right - it transcends the 'normal game' rules, becoming something beyond the boundaries of the sport. No doubt the same happens with other mass events. And there needs to be more done outside grounds - sounds like it was absolute bedlam in the approaches to the Stadium. Still, I read the Guardian, what do I know? ?
  14. You specifically said "The Guardian" were lying. And "The News" were literally quoting an independent expert's report. And doing their job - to report news. As for "God awful English football fans", I didn't say they were England fans. Or even football fans. But hey, it's me making up things you didn't say...
  15. No, I totally take your point, but similarly, it's a lot of responsibility and expectation precisely because we're not scoring - if he tries, and fails, that could ruin him. Better to let him work his way up to Championship standard. Then he'd be ahead of pretty much all our players...
  16. Well, I just listened to the news and they said the same thing. However, no doubt in your mind it's all made up and every person there that day was a gentle, kindly salt of the earth types who wouldn't hurt a fly. Because the Guardian lies. Whereas the Scum, Daily Heil, etc...
  17. By the same logic, we should grab whoever's top scorer in the Downs league and put him up top
  18. But there's a lack of real league experience. If he goes out and starts banging them in, great, but remember: when Tammy came here, he'd scored zillions in youth games, nothing in the real world. We took a gamble to some extent; it paid off. Often it doesn't.
  19. Exeter do that - mind you, their kits are usually vile. Which is odd, because red and white stripes should be easy.
  20. Where the funk did my reply go?
  21. Could be, it was a long time ago! Don't recall that ending 1-0
