  1. Interesting review from one of theirs. A poor performance that we did well to come away with a point. We started OK with a variation on the long ball from the keeper. Instead it went short to Murray who hit it long but it came to nothing. They were out of the blocks early and some early possession in their left wing corner which came to nothing. I kept thinking that it wouldn’t take us long to get into our stride but they had other ideas. They pressed us very hard all over the pitch and we had neither time or space to make any impact. Meanwhile they were strolling around like Barcelona and the harder we tried to get a foothold in the game the harder they stopped our threat. If they got into a spot of bother the ref came to their rescue for a powder puff challenge and a free kick. The only good fortune we had is that despite a lot of possession there was not a lot of threat. Their 11 was running around like a man possessed and Hutch had trouble containing him. It took 20 minutes for us to have a decent effort and that came from Murray who strode forward to the edge of their box and hit it over with his right foot. They continued to press and late in the half we did get a free kick thirty yards out which Flem hit firmly over the bar. We were all willing the ref to blow for half time so GR could put us on the straight and narrow in the second half. When we ran out for the second forty five I thought we would put on a better display. To be Frank it couldn’t have been much worse! After ten GR realised that most of us had sussed for the last 55. Burey was having a mare and was duly replaced by Styles. He added a whole new dimension in our play and the crowd got very vocal and supportive. They still had other ideas and we all shuddered when Nakhi Wells came off the bench. They had a decent move and low cross from the right which Long gathered well. They still looked a threat whereas we did not apart from a decent strike from Vogi which deflected off the bar from a defender’s knee. Another regulation stop from Long made us exhale but we could get little going upfront. With 12 to go Benik, Shack and Honeyman replaced Sav, Bradshaw and Vogi. We pressed harder but so did they and it took some fortune for Long to save from Semedo after a mix up between Hutch and Cooper. At the death Murray hit a shot just over the bar from a corner and the game ended goalless. Long kept us in it a couple of times so hats off to him. Danny was solid but lacked composure going forward. Hutch and Cooper both had decent games but did not have a moments peace from their attacking players. Murray needs to practice shooting with his right foot but he was our best attacker. Billy had a busy game and a couple of blips. Sav was solid but did not pose much of a threat. Vogi had some moments and so did Flem but Burey was an utter waste of space. One decent run past the full back was the sum total of his threat. Bradshaw was busy but little threat. Styles had his moments and had more touches in ten minutes than Burey had in 55. Benik, Honeyman and Shack had busy cameos but little threat. A point from a game where we could have got none was a bonus but it was frustrating and uninspiring and we are now eighth. At least Charlton lost!!
  2. I think they took none of the chances in defence that have cost us goals this season. We did play a bit at times & tried to bring the ball out, but when pressed and closed we hit space , or tried to. We did it at Rotherham, it worked.

Defensively sound, covered well and broke lines brilliantly a couple of times. Yes he hit some poor long passes, they all did and it meant they didn't get caught on the ball, but I thought he did well. Some of those passes were close to getting Weimann and Conway away, just got cut out. There was space in behind the FB/WBs, Naismith hit some horrendous ones first half, but it was obviously a plan.
  5. He should have booked the lad that went through Semenyo. Can't complain about the Penalty shout as every angle they showed missed AS's run until he was 'span'/'spun' Hate to say it as I've still not forgiven him for Hull, but he wasn't complete shite.
  6. Given our 2 Weimann misses and the block from the keeper on Semenyo, I have us just ahead. He obviously lacks a bit of the others ability to go past players, but he adds balance . I thought we looked a lot better tonight as a team. Weimann more involved and defence looked better. Just needed that goal. Looking forward to getting Wilson in.
  7. Totally agree. Tonight + 2 Stoke + 3 Watford +2 Sheff +2 Swansea + 2 With luck we could have won any of those games, not realistic to say we could have won them all of course but we could easily be sitting on 6 more points if things had gone gone our way. Things could be looking a lot healthier.
  8. That must have been some header, Outside the box ??? **********************
  9. Take a draw I guess, but another game in this run I felt we could/should have won.
  10. Don't exaggerate , not a million games until next game.
  11. There is space in the FB area, been unlucky a couple of times. Its the aimless, hopeful ones that annoy me
  12. Need to be a little calmer, the longer ball is on but we go too early.
  13. Being positive Foul on Semenyo should have been a booking. Could have been a Pen on Semenyo. Atkinson good block. We looked reasonably balanced. Weimann been more involved and made some good runs. Conway's pace could test their CBs. Being negative Semenyo looks powderpuff His first touch is appalling The Ref isn't going to give us a Pen. Ok half, get the passing going again and they look nervy. Semenyo has to get in the game or Nige needs to get Wells on early.
  14. With CCTV usually being pointed at most parts of the ground, I would hope they catch the **** and he gets what he deserves.
  15. Too early for me too, but we seemed to get proper winters back then. Remember the one 76 or 77. Not long been working in Avonmouth and got other train or Bus. After I got to work, and after about 2 foot of snow, Radio announced all Busses and Trains were cancelled . Managed to get someone to drop me the 12 miles home, I'd probably still be walking otherwise. Around then I remember there was a really cold winter, about minus 14*. I was told workers were going into freezer units as it was warmer than outside.
  16. The partnership of Wells/Conway has looked great at times, but we need to get the service and link ups going again. That IMO is getting AW behind the front 2 and Sykes or Tanner at RWB.
  17. Conway & Wells have looked a proper partnership up front, the service has dropped off of late. Weimann is wasted at WB. Semenyo needs to be used as an impact Sub until he is forcing his way into the team. King fit or not has to step out for Atkinson. We will not change to a back 4. So.... Max Vyner - Naismith - Atkinson Tanner - Scott - James - Pring Weimann Conway - Wells
  18. Watching us at the moment is the equivalent of having a face only a Mother could Love. If you ain't a Fan, you ain't going out your way to watch.
  19. I don't know anything of him or why he wants to leave Palace, but appears to be a cracking appointment. Specially with the little Tweet from 3Peaps. EDIT: Ok, so was CEO at Palace from 96 and after a short break has been working as consultant for Palace. Did 26 years with the Club , so no fly by night.
  20. IF and that's a big if Pearson did go, we would need a coach and a good one. Someone to get a tune out of the squad we have. We would need to look at lower League options as we aren't a big draw ATM. We would need him to be OOC or near the end as we have no money. I think we would need someone with experience. Someone to make an immediate impact. Not sure that one person exists TBH.
  21. I don't like playing players out of position, or playing players just to get them into the team. We've got away with it previously, but when we aren't scoring loads, those little errors or problems are highlighted. We have been a little unlucky with Wilson getting injured twice, then when he was fit Sykes had been doing well. Who knows if we would have been more solid with him there. After King had a hand in both goals conceded against Stoke , I expected a change there. Because of his Pressers, it can feel like Pearson being bloody minded and playing him to make a point, specially as he had been criticised for his choices. Apart from not seeing much of an improvement in defence, I do question Pearsons Subs. I couldn't be there yesterday, keeping up with the game through the BBC site was tough. Seeing the Subs was baffling. I know I'd read we were poor in MF and that Scott wasn't great, but he took off 2 MF's and put on a striker & a WB. Not sure how we ended up but I saw some of the last 10/15 minutes and it didn't seem like we bossed MF after the changes. It seems Pearsons fall back strategy, no thought of how we will make chances, just throw strikers on. I've supported NP, then when I've got a bit fed up at least I can reason what has gone on. I think he's done an ok job in restructuring and cutting costs. But it has to be getting near the time to push the Panic button. That said I have no idea how we could afford a change, or who we could get, or who would want the job with no money, let alone who I would feel confident in making a difference. I was hoping to get safe and then reassess in the summer, I think Steve's hand may be forced before.
