    Recruitment (in / out) 😡💩🤡

Some may question the recruitment out bit, but between him, the board and LJ, they didn’t use the money well, and I very much suspect MA saw transfer profit / P&L directly reflected in his CEO remuneration, ie a conflict of interests / vested interest in trading players, when that might not have been the right thing to do.

Am I right in thinking he got a huge bonus the year we turned a profit due to including Kelly’s sale in the season previous, when actually if we used it toward the incoming season we’d have been in a much better re FFP?

He was the problem as he was not managed properly?! So he wasn’t the problem then…

He generated so ridiculous transfer fees for us while he was here.

I’ve always been more coy on that second point. How much was him, how much of it was due to bidding wars between desperate clubs, and the players just being of incredible standard?

He also spent some ******* absurd transfer fees on absolute dross that took us years to recover from, if that’s the comparison here.

Maybe if they communicated the strategy, budgets (not how much) and owner funding better, nobody would be under any illusions.

They did communicate the strategy Dave….we have a clear identity of playing from first team down to u11s, have the best squad we’ve had at this level, and are expecting to push for promotion…but also 10 points off 6th is probably where we expected to be 😆

    Not really.

It is undeniable that Ashton’s time with us saw uncontrolled, unsustainable spending & we didn’t go anywhere.

He has now had undeniable huge success at another Championship club, so not difficult to draw the conclusion as to what our problem is.

And, almost most as important for me, ‘off the pitch’ he was a vile human being

Think we can all agree Ashton wasn’t ever the issue. How has it gone so right at Ipswich and so wrong for us I wonder…

He absolutely was, key reason being: he was allowed to be. He clearly is managed and kept in check far, far better there than he ever was here. For on and off the pitch matters here, he was allowed to do literally whatever he wanted

In answer to the question about Phil Alexander leaving and there being no single figurehead, this is the sort of wafflly nonsense I referred to earlier. It’s a collection of words that mean absolutely nothing

“yes absolutely. I mean we’re set up slightly differently here in the fact that the chief executive as it was isn’t really running the commercial operation of the club which it would be most places. Look, the operation part that Tom is fulfilling here is the necessary part and we obviously need leadership in terms of the people, the teams and the building, but then in terms of your figurehead, for me you need different voices. Obviously we’re all talking we should be giving similar messaging, but you’ve got your people giving messaging externally, but internally it’s how it works and operates, so there’s not really any void there in that sense and you’ve got to get used to a team”.

I mean - is anyone any the wiser after that??

Said a few pages back, but imagine being a ‘group CEO’ of a business, and hearing a member of the board say publicly ‘it’s good we don’t have a single figurehead’. Talk about undermined and looked over!

  8. Will take what we can get, I guess, but it is a shame that two people who made things even worse the last time they publicly spoke are being made to do it again because SL basically has no interest in doing so.

  9. I think he’s found his ‘home’ position now and it means we can play him & Cam together, which is a real bonus.

Was a total free I think, as Brighton didn’t offer him a deal. Maybe Wimbledon playing proper hard ball for Currie was a bit of a blessing in the end.

One element of this that people underestimate is the role Twine plays - if he pushes for the move then you could knock off a sizeable amount. I get the impression Twine would love to be here, playing in his best position, guarenteed to be the “star” man, local to home, a manager who has got the best out of him…..he also knows that he is at a point where he needs regular games. If I were him I would be making it very clear to Burnley what my thoughts and hopes were. Not sure he is that kind of lad though.

I think even wit that, it won’t make a difference imo. He’s not a big earner, hes still a way to go on his contract, it won’t make Burnley any money, personally don’t think it’ll have the pull of say, Conway forcing a move.

This isn't the biggest deal in the world but it is a little silly that Manning is saying in press conferences that no talks are taking place and then Tinnion is saying on Robins TV who we have and haven't offered a contract. I do feel there is a lack of a comms strategy at times...

Manning will get asked about it again on Thursday and deny it, and before Stoke on Saturday Tinns will release a one hour webinar on the detail of the contract offer, page by page
