Preston North End away match thread
petehinton replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
Another half where our main talisman is on the periphery of the game and feeding off less than scraps. The quicker we can get to pre season and **** this system off for another one, the better. It’s clearly not going to work under Manning. -

Any streams other than the usual sport-10 links? -
Their recruitment is absolutely out of this world. Best in the league for me. Basically an entirely new starting 11 from last season, and they’ve somehow got even better.

Manning not even asked about Weimann’s omission….pretty poor, and also a bit odd. Unless told before the interview not to be asked about him? -
Don’t think he will be in the squad for tomorrow, let alone Tuesday.
-
In hindsight….maybe his heightened emotion for that, was because he knew it may be his last one? Was even more animated than usual, kissed and patted the badge over and over again….

It sounds like McCrorie and Sykes will both be in the squad next week. Plus we must be very far long with one forward to let one go, you’d think. Andi has earned the “it’s the right thing for him, he should be allowed to do it” badge for me. Just like when Wilbraham was allowed to go to a league rival for no fee, because it was the best thing for him and his family. Club legend. He’ll have his place on the wall, and rightly so. No fan can take that away from him, or indeed the clubs history, no matter if they think he “just runs”.

We managed to get one in for this coming Sunday!

Scott Twine - Loan Confirmed - No option to buy

Think I said on here before, but a mate of mine (now at Bath, was at Chippenham with when he was….can probably connect the dots) and he (and others in the squad probably) literally couldn’t believe he was playing at that level & couldn’t get a club higher up, despite trying very hard for trials & peopke in the area knowing his quality. Stinks of the “we will only start being interested if someone else thinks he’s good first” mentality we have for most young local players -

No ITK at all, but just have a real hunch that he‘ll join us this window. -
Also which one is it? An incredible loyal fierce fanbase who follow them everywhere, including amazing long journey to Norwich. Or Norwich was a big tie, so loads of the people there weren’t fans, they were day trippers, and that’s why their following was so ‘big’ ??

Carvalho is an insane signing. But don’t worry, our squad is truly what a top 6 squad looks like. -
He said back in December, maybe even November, that he loves the club & the area, and really wants to get a new contract. It’s one thing to publicly say it, it’s another thing to play like a man possessed to then prove that you really meant it. Fair play to him. Have even more respect for him than I did beforehand.

Great for him to finally score his first non-penalty goal for a fair while. Hopefully help him kick on. Still need to find a way to get the best out of him, and get him on the ball far more often, if we are to persist with this system.
