Sunderland have been absolutely pathetic. Basically time wasting with no intent to attack first half, at home in a derby. Not going to do Beale any favours at all, considering he’s already not exactly the most likeable character anyway.

I mean, the fact they physically had him on their shoulders away at Rochdale and home to Scunthorpe, lauding him as their king and chanting his name proudly, on two separate occasions, is pretty clear evidence enough. Let alone the constant defending of him after every post match interview, and court case that he had to attend whilst being their proweddddd leader. He suited them perfectly. Two vile outfits.

Is interesting that he will get the ‘new, exciting young manager’ spiel as he’s been at the FA/youth roles for much of his coaching career…yet he’s 47. International role experience, or number 2/3 at a PL club, or even both, is clearly flavour of the month for EFL clubs this season, and maybe even seasons to come.

I think they’ll be okay. They’re at a good level, players will snap up the opportunity to go there short term from the leagues below. Where it’ll really come home to roost, is April / May time when they’re likely going to have a few 4 game gameweeks due to all the postponement.

Can’t lie, feel a bit envious. Was in my top 3 faves to come in when Nige went. Plays extremely attractive attacking football, and always comes across really well, engaging and articulate in anything media related.

I’ve no idea honestly, but would hazard a guess that the new role won’t be any real external facing stuff, and far less pressured with less scrutiny on than a football club role….
