One for a gripe with Stan… I am merely a messenger this time around

Hey, do you mean the RSS feed? Or the patreon contributions themselves?

Hey all OSIB’s back in your ears, Stan, Dave S, Paul aka Exiled Robin, and myself recorded last night chatting the season so far, the restructure ‘upstairs’ at the club and more. Available to listen in all the usual places! Enjoy https://x.com/osibpodmag/status/1706387412740436242?s=46

One of their main groundsmen has left them to join us too, the gap is so big even in areas we don’t even particularly care about!

Which is why I get so defensive and over zealous about how absolutely crazy our academy to first team effectiveness has been since Pearson came in. Benarous 20, Bell 21, Conway 21, Yeboah 17….all making/made huge strides in the first team already - we are almost just getting used to it because of how regularly a new name pops up and fits in so seamlessly, but it really really isn’t ‘normal’ - especially not for us.
-
Led them to their second highest finish ever last season….sold their Crown Jewels, Shrewsbury take all their back room staff and senior people, widely expected to be bottom 3…. and then the manager is the fall guy and gets the sack for being bottom. Lost 3-0 yesterday too in their first game without him.

They’re gonna be like most relegated prem sides, on steroids. They’ve gone from PL winners, to UCL games, to FA Cup winners, to playing teams ‘like us’ and only winning 1-0. Wah wah wah it’s not fair we should be rolling teams over every week and seeing us score 3 or 4 every game it’s not fair wah wah wah -
Weirdly felt even more sure and positive about what a good side we’ve turned into after going up yesterday. Threw bodies at everything, played good football, weren’t phased by them, kept the ball well largely, just wasteful with our final pass and chances when we had it. Tanner and Pring were absolutely excellent, little old £200k Tanner and academy product Pring stride for stride against an £8m signing and loanee for Sporting Lisbon. Their side is basically lower half Prem, however is above them come end of May will be top 2 at the very worst. Yeboah trusted to have 45 minutes against a side like that, and not looking out of place. TGH looks an excellent addition and one I’m fairly sure we’ll make permanent early on in Jan. Naismith and Dickie as a CB pairing… imagine thinking we’d have that 18 months ago. We have a lot to be positive and excited about for this season.

Mitch Brundle is their manager, ex us….although never really played. Youngest manager in the league history

I find it incredibly hard to believe he could’ve played the whole second half, the way he did, if it was a full cruciate tear like Rob/Weimann had. Quietly confident it’ll be a few months rather than a season ender. What a ‘replacement’ we have in Dickie though.

Falls into the ‘was given his chance and took it for granted’ camp me thinks

Dominated with the ball yeah, but it’s not like it was wave after wave after wave of unbelievable save from Max. We were very solid and organised. On another day It was also there to be smashed and grabbed, but we were too wasteful with the ball in the end. -

I think we’ve more than showed it already, personally. Conway and Atkinson and Vyner to come back in as well. I genuinely am at a loss as to what else we’d need to show from here on to give the lansdowns belief that Nige & co have the platform to take us forward now. They’re getting so much out of what we’ve got, and that’s before being allowed to spend the leeway we have from Scott; which they deserve. The reception he got before and after the game today by Leicester fans, I’ve never ever seen before. On the off chance either Lansdown was actually there today, should be added food for thought -

Such a solid performance. We really are becoming a really good side. Only done by a penalty by a side like that. They dominated the ball but Max only had one good save to make. Seeing as Lansdown seems to like backing managers during losing runs, maybe this will spark him into action!
