Preston North End at home match thread

It was always coming IMO. We weren’t going to carry on scoring 3 or 4 in every single game.. -

I really struggle with Dasilva. His end ball is more often than not shocking. -
Anyone got sound issues on robins tv?

Was just about to start a thread saying similar. This has to be up there with the most bizarre first 20 mins of referring i have ever seen at this level!

Can’t defend but it’s not a new thing under Pearson, we have consistently been dreadful at the back since he has come in. -
Agreed. Dasilva’s end product often leaves a lot to be desired i find.

Stops the rot i suppose but Coventry were there for the taking tonight. Disappointing. -
Tactics of Increasing the Number of Strikers

And i will flip that again and say just because Nige has coaching badges and said experience doesn’t automatically mean every decision he makes is correct. Football is a simple game, it’s not rocket science or open heart surgery that we are talking about. -

I worry you might be right. Naismith is such a weak link in that back 3 it’s unreal. Every single game i have watched him in he has been so bad defensively. I know he offers things going forward but it really doesn’t make up for what he lacks defensively IMO. -

Wilson seems an odd one. So much hype surrounding him over the summer and supposedly he had plenty of other options than us. Obviously early days but he has to go down as a big disappointment thus far. -

Yup - i think parts of the fanbase were getting a bit carried away. It’s a shame as I genuinely think this squad is probably only 2 or 3 players away from i genuine top 6 challenge. Be interesting to see what sort of difference Kalas makes when he finally returns. Still don’t think he will be enough though. Upper mid-table is our ceiling this season i think. -

Nothing more than we deserved - same old frailties at the back that just don’t seem to be going away for Pearson and his coaching staff. -

I was on about The first goal which was against the run of play. The 2nd goal is indefensible though but comes as no surprise really - defending is something we have been consistently poor at since Nige has come in. Your not going to out score teams in every game at this level. -

Weimann looks a yard off the pace at the moment. Generally a decent start though from us. -
Englands fixtures in the Nations league
Bris Red replied to Never to the dark side's topic in Football Chat
Just out of interest and this is not a dig at you personally but what part of winning the Serie A and playing week in week out for historically one of the biggest clubs in Europe would not make any sane person sit up and think surely this kid is now ready to step up and be given a shot in the national side? It’s quite a bewildering situation to be honest. Southgate’s obsession with Maguire is another baffling one. The guy is clearly devoid of all confidence, you can see it on his face he looks absolutely finished mentally before a ball has even been kicked. I could sort of understand the logic a bit more if he was say having an absolute mare playing abroad and coming back to England and playing for the national team was a bit of a release for him and he was getting away from the spot light, but he isn’t he is playing (or not so much at the moment!) in the Prem and it’s clear for everyone to see how poor he has been for United for a sustained period now.. -

Forget Webster Tomori won the serie A last season with Milan playing at the heart of their defence and just signed a 4 year extension with them! Absolutely ludicrous that dopey Southgate thinks the likes of Maguire should start ahead of him. -
I’ve always thought this aswell. People continually bang on about the houses on Ashton road but the ones on Raynes road probably would be the cheapest solution -buying 5 of them would probably do it as opposed to buying 18/19 houses by the park.

Indeed. They are averaging about 12-13 k at home at the moment - that for me is about Readings level of support. A club that has punched well above their weight over the last 15-20 years.

2 tough away days out the way. Disappointing to not get at least a point from either of them but we move. -
