  1. Not sure why it caught people off guard. England reach a major final since 1966 and its on home soil. It was always always going to be carnage.
  2. Mental stat that in reality. You can look at it in a positive light though I suppose, mentally toughen up and shore up the defence next season and we will be a force. Certainly no issues with our forward/counter attack play this season, at times we have looked deadly on the break which hasn’t been the case for years.
  3. Agreed. It will just be the same merry go round with a new manager. He will (and quite rightly) need time to review the squad and will then need more time to implement his ideas. It would also probably mean yet another shift around of the backroom staff which again all takes time as we have seen with Pearson who has only just this season got the team he wanted. In reality unless we employ some miracle worker and somehow have a blank cheque book for him in the process a new manager would without doubt set us back another 12-18 months IMO. All i will say and I’m sure the board will be of the same opinion is improvement is needed next season. We aren’t going down this year but things namely the defence and our woeful goals conceded record needs to improve. If they don’t then irrespective of the points i made above the bullet will quite rightly be pulled on Pearson.
  4. Fair play to Nige. He has the benefit of the doubt from me at the moment. Plenty of injuries and players who just aren’t good enough at this level. I will however say that the complete lack of organisation and horrendously dire defending must improve come next season. If it carries on with new personnel it will be very difficult to not start having a look at the coaching staff.
  5. I’d be looking to offload Vyner in the summer. He will thrive at a League 1 club. Best for all considered if he left ASAP.

    Ipswich

Indeed. An odd thread altogether really, the weird obsession with Ipswich is rather baffling. Similar to the obsession with LJ mind you, some fans just can’t seem to let things go. Odd individuals..!
  7. On a side note, what do people think he is genuinely worth as it stands currently? I’d be wanting at least £10 million for him if someone came calling in the summer..
  8. Fair play to him. I am the first to admit that i was very sceptical when he first broke onto the scene , genuinely thought he didn’t have what it took to really make an impact at this level but he has certainly proved me wrong. We need to be building the team around players like him HNM Williams etc. We have the bones of a top team at this level IMO - a few more additions and we will be flying.
  9. My thoughts exactly. In reality a small club with a shite plastic fanbase who have punched above their weight for years.
  10. Indeed. We are improving, still horrendously disorganised at the back mind you but hoping that can be rectified during the summer. The main thing is we are virtually safe now which didn’t seem a given a few months back.
  11. Embarrassing hanging on for dear life at home to a dire dire Reading
  12. Indeed. I said it months ago but I’d be happy to never see the *** in a City shirt again. He is a waste of time effort and money.
  13. Got to be looking at nothing less than a convincing victory tonight.
  14. Hopefully some prison time coming up for the scum
  15. Agreed. He was a disgrace come the end.
  16. We were flush with cash at that point so I can’t blame the board for wanting to re invest it in the team.. it is however looking more and more like we paid £3 or £4 million over the odds for him though IMO.
  17. Says it all. He Probably would have done a great job here.
  18. Fair play Steve Cooper know’s how to get a team playing good aggressive attacking football.
  19. I’ve said the exact same thing numerous times over the last couple of years on this forum. Lansdown and the board dithered around for a season too long with Johnson and the double glazed salesman. A Pearson type at the end of 18/19 season is what was needed.
  20. It has all been so annoyingly very predictable. A poor performance was inevitable and was due at some point and the real annoyance for me and I’m sure Nige and the coaching staff is that we didn’t capitalise on the good performances we had against Luton and Preston. Let’s be quite frank we should have been coming into todays game off the back of 6 good away points and a loss and poor performance would have been a lot easier to swallow today had that been the case. Defence needs a major overhaul in the summer, i like Pearson but still a major concern that he can’t get what he has at his disposal more organised and resilient. He has had long enough and as @Andy082005 said on another thread we really aren’t going to get better quality in terms of personnel, some of them full internationals with 100s of championship games between them. It’s a worry.
