100% agree that the structure is inadequate in terms of board/direction/strategy/recruitment etc.
Without a definitive recruitment strategy we'll just carry on as we are and tread water, which in this league means going backwards.
Players and supporters like to see a club being ambitious and with clear objectives rather than sound bites, but there is no sign of that at the moment, certainly not from an outside perspective. I don't know what the recruitment strategy is, other than collect young players and hope to make a fortune from selling them later (yet still make an accounting loss).
Its apparent to me that the structure of the club is inadequate with inexperienced people in situ with no clear strategic objectives. Sound bites like "we want to be a top 6 club" doesn't cut it.
The club should have fought tooth and nail to keep Gould if possible and, if NP had to be removed from the managers job, move him into the Technical/Football Ops Director role, with Tinnion staying as Academy Director, LM Head Coach, and JL taking a back seat. Dream team imo and a big opportunity missed or, more to the point, not wanted.
I've a feeling that the bottom line is that The Lansdowns either don't want, or can't afford, to fund Premiership football. That's why Steve is looking for buyer/investor to help fund the project. The aim seems to be "don't go down" rather than go for promotion.

That really does illustrate the chasm between League 1 and Championship
You realise that this is where we are shopping with our League 1 manager.

I'm sure a lot more would travel if they had free train travel !!!
Or even coach travel supported by the club? No? Oh well

It's what some players do but boy can you end up with egg on your face.

Seems to me that JL has been given the opportunity to run the club by SL for the time being so it may well be that a sale has been put on the back burner with investment now being the primary objective.
Just pure speculation on my part.
Maybe not speculation? Steve has noticeably moved back from the front line and put Jon, who until recently was just his eyes on the board, firmly in place as the leader. Remember Jon seemed destined to drift away overseas until a change of direction from Steve. Jon appears to have been told its his club now and to take the reins. Problem is he appears to have no idea about recruitment or delegation so has used his mates to help him out. In Gould and Pearson we had football men in the right places and slow progress was being made. Now it may be Jon saying to Steve "get me something new for Christmas dad because I've broken the football club you gave me last year".

I was a member of Senior Reds a few years ago. I remember one meeting, pre redevelopment, when meetings were held in the Williams stand.
Steve Lansdown was guest speaker and he was criticised by one member for running the club like a non-league club. Steve became very upset and said member was never seen again. Anyone else recall this incident.

And who will pay for this?
And the separate turnstiles, and the toilets, and the facilities....
Pipe dream. Accept it as it is. There is no return on the spend.
Are you Jon Lansdown.......?

Agreed. FA Cup games may need to be pushing 3.5k but yeah agreed. Trying to think how segregation would work..
Maybe keeping the lower (home section) linked to the concourse and separate entrances for away fans in upper?

How much of the Dolman, it holds 6k??
Half, 2/3 to future proof for Cup games, 60%?
Half should be plenty. Put them in upper half away from the pitch.
I know it's not easy or cheap but if we want to get home advantage, it's got to be possible..

Redevelop the Atyeo and link it to the Lansdown concourse and give away fans the Dolman, closing the link to the South Stand concourse thereby giving us 3 sides as now, but including both goal ends.
Having away fans behind the goal is stupid. It gives away sides an advantage that we could easily remove. Anyone like to finance that Steve?

Not surprised he felt uncomfortable in front of real fans with unscripted questions. Was he there alone? When I've seen him doing Q&A before he usually has a sidekick as back-up.

I've been quite critical of late of the whole club identity and direction. What I saw today was a team determined to hold on to a lead with bodies on the line and some great keeping from Max. I also felt entertained for once so if this is what's to come, bring it on.
Having said that, Sunderland were very quick, slick, and clever. Dare I say, a level above us. Hey but we took home the 3 points. We'll done lads.

I've always thought it meant passing and playing the ball so that the receiver could take it without turning backwards or stopping. Basically playing the pass in front of the receiver.

Heaven forbid he try and show some positivity and ambition, I know that's frowned upon around here.
You've managed to get positivity and ambition in the same sentence regarding City.
That's all I want to see, even if we lose. I just want to be entertained at AG. Is that really too much to ask?

I think City's objective this season is to avoid relegation, they can forget the play-offs
I think this is true but I also think it's a negative aim. Much like the present set up seems to be more " let's not lose" rather than "let's try to win".

AG will be like a home game for Sunderland.
Nigh on 3000 Mackams roaring them on, whereas the “AG library” will be quiet again.
Would take a draw TBH as a good result. This issue has been raised many times before and is always ignored by the Club.
If it goes wrong on the pitch Saturday and the Mackams roar their team to victory, will the penny drop for the board at last?
Personally I doubt it. As long as the money rolls in from a packed stand, the club won't care who is in there.

People are already voting with their feet. Don't be fooled by Downsy saying "today's attendance is 21500". We have been several thousand short of that recently.
Yes I know it's never accurate but there are more spaces now.

Manning doesn't need 3 windows or patience from us. This squad is top 6 ready. Jon told us so.
