  1. I think the decision to change manager AND style of play a third of the way through the season when we were mid table was ludicrous.  These moves should be made before pre season when the new man has time to develop his ideas.

The players look confused and the supporters are completely baffled by what our game plan is. Have we changed from trying to win games to trying not to lose games? That's a completely different set up and imo, so negative.

The team spirit appears to have gone and if we lose badly against Sunderland, the sh*t will really hit the fan.

They've installed the owners son to run the show and he's apparently causing chaos (not a wind up).

All their coaching staff have left, not sure if they were sacked or just walked out.

    This made me laugh;

    "Out of curiosity.
Does anybody know whether when Pearson was sacked at 1982ltd all of his coaches were also replaced ?"

They so want to be like us.

If true, and we are relying on the word of one person the obvious questions are:

Is Tinnion buying into the new approach? Because one things for sure, if you aren’t training with the first team the opportunity to impress the Manager alongside “real players” rather than inexperienced kids vanishes.

How does it tie in with developing players and increasing the Nest Egg pot that the Ultimate Funder spoke of? Are Jon and Steve on board?

It certainly adds weight to opinions questioning whether the two now in charge of football operations knew what we were getting when they appointed Manning?

    Brilliant last paragraph.

  4. Sykes would be my 1st name on the teamsheet but he just seems to be exhausted. Not surprising with the ground he covers. Anyway, back to Tanner. Seems to lack confidence when he approaches half way line. Always looking for the safe backward pass to Vyner or Dickie. I think he just wants to get rid of the ball rather than look for a forward pass that might not come off.  He is certainly no Ayling?

  5. Manning is in and Pearson is gone. There was no reason to do that unless the top brass wanted change.

We've all been in jobs when the new man comes in and decides that everything needs changing, when in most cases, it doesn't.  The old adage " if it ain't broke then don't fix it" comes to mind.

Manning has to prove that his changes will improve things. We will have to wait and see. But meanwhile, he has to be seen to be rocking the boat which in turn will cause unrest. That unrest is apparent to me on the pitch. So many players seem unsure of their roll now. The comraderie seems to be ebbing away.

    None so blind...

I've got a bloke sat behind me who just spends the game shouting "FORWARD" at the top of his voice.

He was going nuts yesterday with all the ball retension and passing :laughcont:

That could so easily be me. The opponents goalmouth is in their half not ours. Bloody modern football.

  7. I feel the problems lie deep at out club but it all stems from the top. I left AG on Sunday feeling exactly the same as when I left last Saturday despite the fact that one of those games ended in a win and the other in a defeat. I just don't feel entertained anymore at games. Yes I'm off my seat when we score of course but the rest of the game it's just meh, stagnant and boring and so predictable.

I don't know who had most touches of the ball on Sunday, maybe Davefevs can tell me, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't either Dickie or Vyner. Most of that came from them playing " to me...to you".  I know it's the modern possession game but I hate it.

I think NP was building a real togetherness with the majority of fans that we haven't seen very often. The nearest in recent times probably being Steve Cotterell and Gary Johnson.A real feeling of positivity around the club. That feeling of optimism and goodwill was undone in an instant with Nigel's dismissal.I don't think the club could possibly be more out of tune with the fans.

I'm 100% with this. I think now maybe that the players are too. There was nothing like the commitment today that we had under Nige. The players didn't appear to be enjoying their football like they did under Nige. So many were off their game and seemed lethargic. There were one or two giving their best but far to many passengers.

As a fan of almost 70 years I am used to dissappointment but it's now utter dross. I no longer care if we win or lose, it doesn't make or break my weekend anymore. I don't blame Manning. The job was advertised and he took it. The failings of this club are due to the owner and his son.

PS. I suppose I do care or I wouldn't have posted. The whole club set up seems so negative though. Sigh!!

We normally do badly after an international break, so throw in a new manager ….. ????

Fingers crossed but hope for the best, prepare for the worst…

    This could be our motto.

There is lots of negativity on this thread and I'm afraid I agree with most of it. How many we lose by seems to be the theme.

I didnt miss going during the International break and I've little to no enthusiasm for the game and that was the same under Nige although I thought we were making slow progress with him in charge. Manning is on a hiding to nothing because of the ham fisted way JL and Tins handled the change. I will back him whilst he's here because he and the team deserve at least that.

Hope I feel more positive tomorrow at 5pm but...............it's the hope that kills.

  10. Far be it for me to be seen agreeing with JL. I shudder at that thought. But reading the comments on this thread makes me think perhaps we do already have the players here to compete.

We definately need to be picking from a fully fit squad but maybe the players are here already. It just needs the manager to get the correct round pegs in the correct round holes.

I've no idea which style Manning wants to play but if he came here knowing what the squad was, and knowing he had no cash to spend, and knowing what was expected of him, he must have a masterplan. I can't wait!
