If you look close enough though most following are from the great unwashed tribe or the sort of people you would see on these various marches that seem to be in Bristol every other week ,

A few of my mates were at this and they're about as far away from the 'great unwashed tribe' as you can get. This is a completely different crowd.

It all comes down to, again, that you like what you like.

If it isn’t for you, then there are plenty other things to enjoy. I’m not into drum and bass, but I don’t see any harm in this.

As long as they didn’t litter after themselves then crack on.

100% this. DnB isn’t my bag at all but it’s absolutely everywhere in this city, don’t see any issue with it whatsoever. Bristol being at the forefront of anything good is a positive in my book.

  3. Poor lad, really hope he's found. What's particularly weird is that although (sorry to say it) it's entirely possible he's sadly in the river, like a few others in recent years, his phone apparently pinged as active up on Granby Hill shortly after he went missing. Doesn't make all that much sense unless he's doubled back on himself.

Really good shout to make more people aware of this.

Unrelated but they've created their site using Squarespace. A design agency building their own site with Squarespace is like someone claiming to be a gourmet chef but only knows how to microwave ready meals. Despite presenting themselves as experts in a craft that typically demands creativity and custom solutions, their choice of a drag-and-drop website creator suggests they might not possess the depth of skill or creativity they advertise.

That's a great spot. A 'design agency' paying a mass-market web design/hosting company what, £15pm to run basically a pre-templated website for them is laughable.

There doesn't seem to be much overlap time for people to move from one stage to another?

The stages are side-by-side so it shouldn't really matter. Wonder how sales are going for this (and Forwards for that matter).

Imagine you giving the pre match team talk "right lads, the result doesn't matter today, we've achieved success by getting to the final, today is a free hit" 😄

That's daft though, it's not what any of us would actually say in that situation though is it? We're talking with hindsight, and based on the perceived aims of the club at the start of the year.

At the end of the day everyone here is on about relative success (which is what success is to most people 90% of the time). You're just sticking to your guns that success is absolute which is fine, if that's really how you want to see it.

To most of us, if you are predicted 22nd and finish 4th, and you end up better off talent-wise and financially, with a better platform for the next year, that's a success. Progression can be success. It doesn't mean you're any less ambitious.

Speaking specifically about Englishness, every year- I've seen once already this year- social media will carry a lot of posts about St Georges day, how everyone else celebrates theirs, but we aren't 'allowed' to, like and share etc etc.it absolutely baffles me, who is stopping anyone celebrating it, and do the Scottish and Welsh really celebrate theirs that much? I,ve been in Scotland on numerous St Andrews days and apart from a view 'St Andrews day special offers' things in shops, absolutely nothing else is going on.

I think many patriotic Englishmen have been well and truly conned and whipped into a frenzy by horribly skewed media.

To be fair I would disagree slightly and say that I can see why people think we could and should do more for St George's Day. In the home nations it's only England and Wales that don't get a bank holiday for their national days (I think), and it would be nice to be able to do something for it.

fair enough but for those of us who do, there's no way any other country would be expected to just accept this!

I'm very proud to be English and see this as yet another attempt to wipe out everything English

Like I said, can you imagine what would happen if the Palestinian Flag had its colours changed? or the Saltire going pink or the Welsh Flag ditching the Dragon

Other countries have had their flags tweaked slightly for promo purposes, and they didn't care.

Literally on the last few pages examples have been posted where Scotland, Brazil, etc have done the same thing without shitting the bed. We've done it countless times to the Union jack, whether it's Team GB or UKIP or whatever.

There is literally no reason to be even remotely bothered by this. Just shows perfectly how conditioned some of you lot are to be 'offended' on command.

So which country are you emigrating to?

You can still love the country and your family/friends in it, while also realising that operationally it's a pile of shit and lightyears behind other comparable countries.

To be fair though, this has nothing to do with the fact that we're tweaked a flag to fit in more with the design of the kit. Crazy, crazy reaction.

  10. Probably worth noting that when we actually won something our national identity was different again.

    3500.jpg?width=1125&dpr=2&s=none

Honestly this is all just ****ing crazy to me. It's not an erosion of identity. It's not being woke. It's a tiny little flag on a kit, it's absolutely bonkers.

Anyone complaining about this has no right to ever call someone else a snowflake ever again. Put your energy into something that matters.

Pretty sure most football fans are left wing so that's a bizarre thing to say.

I'd have thought the opposite to be fair, though purely on a hunch. I have no proof either way.

So you probably wouldnt mind if we just changed City’s kit to blue & white quarters then? Then anyone who objects you would probably call a small minded racist bigot.

    .

Was going to post something similar earlier. Say SL sells to a Vincent Tan equivalent and he does to us what tan did to Cardiff by putting blue seats in Ashton Gate and changing the kit to the blue and white quarters.

The important question to ask is why they felt the need to do it and who is the target audience for it. Just some nonsense buzzwords on a tweet means nothing.

The fallout from this has been incredible.

How are these examples in any way similar? Your examples are complete rebrands, at complete odds with everything the club stands for and a polar opposite to what we currently have. How on earth does that apply to a small, no, tiny flag on the England shirt? It can't be more than a few inches (👀),

As others have said the cross has been 'tampered with' on shirts for years. 2012, 2011, another from 2011, No one gave a shit then.

Obviously if you don't like it then you don't like it, that's fair I'm not trying to say otherwise. But when Twitter is in complete meltdown over it and you have a petition out to change a tiny piece of the kit, you can probably start to make a guess that it's not only down to the fact that they don't like the design of it. For what it's worth I'd prefer the St George's Cross too but I can't say it's bothered me in the slightest.

Not necessarily aimed at you guys, but from some of the more angry people online, it once again stinks of the usual crap of people calling everyone else snowflakes while having a complete meltdown over the colour of a tiny part of the shirt. A product of conditioning, nothing more. (My response is more to the fact that a bloody petition exists over this than to your actual comments by the way guys).

The EFL Digital network of sites do share a common platform but, as a club, we have opted out and done our own thing.

Thanks, I hadn't realised that. Ultimately it does the job, just think the template could use a bit of tweaking. But at least it's not the Bristol Post!

    Why not?

Murphy meets all the criteria needed to play Bond. He handsome, cool and suave and an experienced actor.

That said whoever the next 007 is they won’t ever outdo Sean Connery. He was the best Bond ever.

Could be wrong of course and we'd never know, but from what I've seen of Murphy in interviews and with his outlook on Ireland and the UK, it wouldn't surprise me if he'd turn the role down if offered anyway. Great bloke and a great actor, but Murphy and the ultimate British character? Not a fit that I could ever imagine happening.

    Surely they are linked though?

Content should be the same on both?

It's less of a content issue here though really I guess. In many cases app and website will pull from the same content database - but the issue here is the presentation of the content.

The site seems to be running WordPress which is widely used and decent for particular sites, but ultimately the template is pretty shite with a not so user friendly UI. I'm fairly certain clubs across the FL have always used the same provider / operator, presumably for contractual reasons.

Not defending the club here, but I do think they were backed into a corner when NP started talking publicly about the fact that the club had not discussed offering him a new/extended contract - he was forcing their hand

I am pretty certain that NP could be prickly and that his relationship with senior management could be less than easy ( his record at previous clubs seems to indicate this) and because of this I can easily see that it became increasingly unlikely that the club would not want to offer NP a new contract, despite, from fans' perspective, NP appearing to be the right man.

As a consequence I can understand that a point was reached whereby something had to give - either NP walked or the club sacked him. Had Manning continued what we saw in the cup games against WHam and Forest and the game against Saints, then none of these threads would be happening. Sadly he didn't and they are, and will continue...........................................

This is a really good point, and I can certainly imagine our owner being shall we say.... sensitive to that prickliness.

But ultimately being a leader or a manager in any situation means sometimes working with people who don't operate in the same way as you. Alex Ferguson treated Cantona spring to mind instantly.

I always imagined it was more of a clash of personalities that caused NP's downfall. In fact it was likely inevitable given the lack of control our owners are happy to relinquish, the style of manager that we know the owners prefer to operate with, and the reputation that (to be fair) preceded Nige. But I guess the fans as a whole will never know the full story.

Went to Mowgli’s today for lunch. Had read mixed reviews on Tripadvisor but tend not to pay much attention unless they’re all really bad. We had the monkey wrap, the Himalayan cheese toast, the treacle tamarind fries which were fantastic, lamb chops, butter chicken and the prawn curry with some roti’s and rice. All in all, was really tasty. Lovely venue. Both curry’s were really tasty. It’s all small plates so you need to order 3 or 4 dishes each and we shared everything. Very instagram friendly venue and food presentation but enjoyable food too. Probably won’t rush back as there’s plenty of other restaurants on the list currently but did say to the wife that if we came back I could easily and happily pick 6 or 7 completely different dishes as the menu nearly all sounds great. Worth a visit.

Has anyone tried Bandook in Wapping Wharf? Another Indian street food place with great reviews. Will visit there before I’d go back to Mowgli.

Have been to the one in Bath, it was great. Definitely worth a visit.

I think a Glastonbury headliner should be someone at least 70% of the audience have heard of and know some of their material

I'm not sure why this needs to be the case. This might show a big age difference between users here, but even as far back as the supposed heyday of the 2000's I think there have been headliners who potentially weren't known by 70% of the population.

Would 70% of the population have known Moby? Travis? Basement Jaxx? In 2009 would all the kids know who Neil Young is (I certainly hadn't heard of him at that age even though he's a legend!). Arcade Fire in 2014? Big names, but 70%+ of the population?

I think the lineups these days are more a symptom of the music industry than a sign of a 'poor' lineup. Access to music is so much easier and wider, and is less siloed to a finite number of tv and radio stations, so musical interests are far more fragmented and niche. I think for that reason, people who are less interested in music and only see the 'big' acts shout every year about how lineup's are going downhill, despite the fact that attendance numbers suggest the complete opposite.

Gone are the days where most had heard of almost the entire lineup, there is so much more variety now. Guitar music is in a bit of a rut, but there is so much great stuff in the other genres being pushed now.
