Had my suspicions they might go down this kind of direction . Won’t be for me , but hopefully it’s successful. Don’t get too many big mainstream act events in Bristol so something a bit different.

stuff I prefer is already pretty well catered for with forwards festival and a few smaller ones like dot 2 dot , plus a decent range of small-medium gig venues

Dot To Dot is one of the best things Bristol has, really great festival. Quite incredible really that the likes of Ed Sheeran, Fontaines DC, Lewis Capaldi, Dua Lipa, Wolf Alice etc have all played it before they were big. Basically a great predictor of the next big thing.

  2. From what I've heard, most likely a disappointment for us! Especially considering some of the names mentioned so far. I’m assuming we're not quite the target market... I do hope I'm wrong though.

I guess the only shame is if you have a decent view for one stage, when it flips to the other you lose this

I don't know why but I thought I saw that the first acts would be announced from yesterday

Yeah I saw the same on BBC News.

My fear is that 'self curated' will see them attempted to provide something for everyone and ensure in the process people thinking... Well, I only know one of bands, but not enough to pay 'x' amount to see them when the other bands are shite.

Either that or JL's Spotify Wrapped!

But fair play to them for trying to put more events like these on. They're a good idea.

Well, saves me the scramble for tickets.
While I'd like something more like the Reytons, the Ks , the Lilacs and more established like Ian McNabb and Paul Weller , sadly it's not about me. The only one I've really wanted to see was the Arctics and couldn't get tickets.
Still as long as it's successful I guess it's good for the Club.

That sort of thing would be right up my street too.

Quite a few European festivals use a two stage setup , either side by side , or end to end. It lets the sound teams/tech guys set up one stage while the other stage is playing, meaning no big gaps between sets.

I went to primavera in Barcelona last year and they did this (side by side). It meant only 5-10 mins between acts rather than about 30 mins + like at Glastonbury or similar

I think Reading do this now don’t they? Forwards here in Bristol too, plenty in Australia and Europe too for sure.

Back to back on the centre line is my guess

I can't see that honestly, I think 2 stages next to each other is the most logical if it is definitely 2 on the pitch. Maximises the capacity moreso than the other 2 setups.

Apparently both will be on the pitch.

Interesting, I hadn't thought of that... I wonder if they will go with one at either end like Forwards, or two next to each other so there is basically no gaps between sets.

I gather the lineup is going to be a bit more erm... Love Saves than some of the suggestions here.

Arguably bigger than the Beatles , oh behave.

I didn't say that but if making shit up makes you feel better do carry on.

They are definitely not bigger than The Beatles overall by any stretch. But I definitely have younger family members who could name 10x as many Oasis songs v Beatles, they are without a doubt bigger in the younger generation. There were people congratulating Kanye years back for working with the 'new, upcoming artist' Paul McCartney ffs .

Rihanna would be ridiculous - can’t imagine we’d get her, she’d be a Wembley/Old Trafford act if doing football stadiums.. would be amazing though.

Not necessarily to be fair. She did a tour in the UK not so long ago where she failed to sell out the Stadium of Light I think it was. It wouldn't surprise me, not that I think it's her.

It seems Liam Gallagher will be touring his new album with John Squire next year, I wonder if this could be a part of 'BS3 Live'? With both announcements seemingly imminent it could make sense.

"A third huge stadium gig at Ashton Gate is to take place this coming summer, stadium bosses have revealed. The announcement of which music act will be taking to the stage in BS3 is expected to made on Friday, with speculation mounting about who it will be."

The new Liam and John Squire tune I mentioned is out this Friday. Could be coincidence, not sure it's the sort of act I could imagine them bringing here, but worth mentioning.

I’d love a one off tour - i loved Oasis. They were the first band that i ever took any notice of. I’m off to watch Liam in June which I’m hoping will be as close to Oasis as it can get.

That sounds awesome, he always plays a ton of Oasis bangers so you'll be fine.
