  1. I do think that an Oasis reunion, should it ever happen, has been hyped to such a ridiculous level now that it could never possibly live up to it. And it would no doubt cost £300 for a ticket and be full of the piss-throwing chavvy bell ends that end up at these gigs. They do have really strong songs though that are the best to belt out, and both Noel and Liam live are good fun.

As far as Manc bands go, The Smiths and The Roses were better for me but I think a lot of the Oasis hate is purely down to how 'everywhere' they are. In some very specific demographics they're arguably actually bigger than The Beatles, so I can see why they do some people's heads in and would be a Room 101 band.

I think it’s one of the most popular sports however I’d expect the massive difference is most aren’t there for the actual horse racing.

From my experience most people are there to dress up and enjoy a day out, and put a few bets on and couldn’t care less about the actual racing, or WHO wins.

Besides going now and again for a big occasion, how many actively follow the sport?

As you say, it depends on what you count as 'interest' or 'following'. I have a bunch of mates who regularly bet on it, but none of them 'follow' it or have any clue about particular horses, and sometimes don't even watch it. It's just some passive weekend fun for them.

What do you think he'd be worth now if someone big did take a punt in january?

I don't see why anyone would take a punt right now. He's barely played 400 mins for Bournemouth since joining, clubs can't have learnt a huge amount more than in the summer when they could have had him for cheaper.

I've no doubt there will be interest of sorts in the summer but can't see anything at all happening in January.

  4. Five pages in already so I'm sure it's been done to death, but from my perspective, I'm fully appreciative of the general benevolence, the effort, and quite obviously the finances.

What do I want? Well, it's simple, I think a huge step would be to get people into the right roles at the top level. People who know what they're doing, people with experience, and in the correct roles. Not people who have 'grown into' roles, not people who are doing multiple roles, but a normal, proper structure at this level. From what I gather having read a lot on here, we are miles off in that regard.

I honestly think that change alone, with his backing, would set us in the right direction. It might mean SL having to give up a little control, but that's the point. You employ people in roles precisely because they know what to do. If we had 4 or 5 people in the correct roles with proper experience it feels like it would optimise the investment, and make so much more of an impact. The Lansdown's have perhaps had the right intention with a totally wrong execution.

I'm finding the situation very frustrating at times but I'm very thankful for what they've done. I just wish they would be a lot smarter at the top level. We've had a hint of what it was like, and it's even more annoying because we sort of had it right not too long ago. But it would inevitably trickle down and perpetuate throughout the club as a consequence.

Getting rid of NP was all that more frustrating because it felt like precisely the opposite direction of where we should be going, given the context of what I wrote above.

I agree he’s a nasty person and should never talk about anyone the way he does - however, and i appreciate this will be an unpopular view, something like this gives him ammunition imo, what has she done to deserve this award, or even be nominated for it? I will be honest though and say, i don’t watch this program anymore so i could well be missing something.

Word for word pretty much agree with all of this. It was a public vote though to be fair (I think?).

I’m not vegan/veggie, but I’m eating more and more vegan food by choice.

As you say, a lot of the alternatives now are great.

Burgers that are better than many meat ones, a nut roast that I enjoy as much as any meat roast - and even at Ashton Gate they did a vegan pie a few years back that was better than any of the meat pies on offer.

I’ve not gone as far as vegan Christmas Day - porchetta for me this year. To be honest, it would be the evening/Boxing Day I’d struggle with more - I do like some Parma ham, parmesan cheese, mozzarella! And the vegan alternatives to those are …ugh!

Out of interest, What are you having as your joint?

Spot on, and I know the exact pie you're on about, it was banging! To be fair I've only been doing this a few years myself so still not completely up to speed on it all. I think processing-wise the fake meats aren't the best, but you could say the same about a huge chunk of meat products as well. But fair play to you, any effort is a good effort particularly over Christmas.

I'm not sure which one we'll be going for but I've had the THIS Isn't Roast Chicken and it was really decent, and we will be having a practice run Thursday night with the Sainsbury's Taste The Difference one. The biggest tip I could give you is these though, eye-waveringly expensive but they are better than any 'real' Yorkshire pudding I've ever had.

Honestly it will never be the same as actual turkey or beef, it just won't, but my Dad is in his 60's and not veggie in the slightest, and is voluntarily giving up his turkey/beef this year to share the fake stuff we're having as he liked it so much last time, and we are not the type to pressure him at all, quite the opposite. It really has come a long way.

But to bring it back for the meat eaters, slow-cooked beef is far better than turkey, even at Christmas.

  7. Jake Humphrey and his 'High Performance' Podcast.

People playing music on their phones loudly on the bus or in public is a big one. How can anyone feel comfortable doing that? If someone paid me to do that I'd feel uncomfortable within about 3 seconds.

Asda Bedminster. Asda Longwell. Just Asda.

The M32 roundabout at Eastville. Not even the drivers on it, just the piss poor design of it. People cut me up all the time on there and I don't even blame them because no one has a clue and for all I know I'm heading to ****ing Latvia.

Someone putting in 5.30pm work calls, particularly on a Friday. Just because you don't have a life that doesn't mean I don't have one.

Anyone having a vegan Christmas? Just asking 😂

Yup, and can't wait for it. Nothing can exactly replace the actual meat joint, but everything else is pretty much bang on the same if you make the right adjustments, and to be fair even some of the mock joints now are ****ing brilliant.

I’ve said elsewhere I do wonder if this may be a case of unfinished business. Highly unlikely I know and there would need to be quite a change in the club, but I’m sure Leicester City felt the same at the time.

Stranger things have happened though I really can't see for as long as we have our current ownership. It's a shame, if he ever did come back after a bad run by an existing manager, I can only imagine what the atmosphere would be like, a real lift and fight behind the club once again. One can hope.. 🙄

You should follow bosfinesse on insta. Bristol food blogger. He always finds decent places - some off the beaten track.

Not for everyone of course but he's just reviewed the Koocha vegan roast - had it myself and it's outstanding stuff. Really impressive.

I've seen loads of posts criticising LM, saying he's out of his depth, boring, lacking confidence etc. The forum is rife with them

Oh I see what you're saying, I thought you meant calling for him to be sacked.

I do agree I think we as a fanbase should be doing better to keep the heat off of Manning, I think generally most people are doing that though and directing their frustrations above him.

You could argue that there wae still enough to get more points on the board than we did. Anyway, the fact still remains that it's illogical to judge a manager after six games or whatever it is. Even if you have an agenda (as many people do), what good will it do haranguing LM out of a job before he's been given a fair crack of the whip?

Who's been doing that? I haven't seen many (if any) posts suggesting that.

Complaining about the board's ineptitude in getting to this situation isn't the same as wanting LM gone, or not wanting him to succeed.

I'm now starting to question the departure of Alexander. I believe in his leaving statement he said something along the lines of "the club is in good hands with Nige and his team"

So I'm wondering if the writing was on the wall for Nige back then? Obviously something caused Phil to leave and I do not believe them when they say it was a reshuffle.

I'm guessing when I say this but maybe Phil was an advocate for NP and the lack of funds he was given etc.

So therefore in order for the board to get rid of Nige, they needed to get rid of Phil too?

    Oh for **** sake.

I hadn't clocked this at the time but this is exactly what has happened isn't it?

I know exactly what you mean and feel, my angst is not with L.M. I really wish he does well. My 60 years of supporting is now disturbed and challenged on how to overcome this contrived situation that has been forced upon what was a very supportive, understanding, and patient support of the N.P. era.

Yep exactly. And just like you, as much as I feel checked out / disinterested, etc, I should clarify that I clearly think LM is a decent bloke and of course I want him to do well. I’m completely clear on that.

It says a lot that even through inconsistent results, you could see what Pearson was doing. It was always the right direction and I’m certain we’d have been in the play offs within the next 2 seasons had that continued. From then on then who knows, but it would have been better than this.

Optimism is just gone now. I’ve watched no more than 10 mins of City without switching over since LM came in and haven’t been down the Gate, just totally disinterested.

  15. Lost interest the minute Pearson was sacked and things are only getting worse.

At least before that, we as fans at least had the illusion of having some sort of a say in the club, a bit of influence. Now we all know it’s only the owner’s opinion that matters and sod the rest of the paying lot. I’d take Nige back in a heartbeat as bizarre as it would be.

Never been so disinterested in City, and it’s not just being dramatic. I feel mentally checked out.

  16. Must admit I find this a bit weird too, but let's be clear - 'offensive' was one of the terms used, but they also said it was 'old-fashioned' and 'irrelevant', so it wasn't all around offence.

I do think it is all a bit cringeworthy and completely old-fashioned to be fair - and it was called upon by the students, so arguably it should ultimately be up to them. Can't say it should really bother anyone either way though.

Incidentally I graduated over a decade ago from a different uni and have no recollection of the anthem being played there either - I don't think it's really a big deal.
