  1. I wonder if there's any hope at all for those towards the end of festival season. Reading, Shambala, even Boomtown. I can't see it, but if cases drop, and if a company like Festival Republic could nail down some sort of testing, there could be the slimmest of chances.
  2. Yeah I'm really not convinced the barrier should be collapsing in like that. I get that barriers are designed to withstand a certain level of impact but what's happened here is very similar to what happened to Francois Cevert decades ago - part of the barrier has failed and part of it has survived. Unfortunately in the case of Cevert it essentially meant he was cut in half - and a similar fate would have happened to Grosjean had it not been for the staggering strength of the halo. Another oddity is the fire itself which you very rarely see from an impact these days. Engine blow-outs were still common in the 90's and the 00's but since Berger at Imola back in the late 80's I can't think of an example of an F1 car catching fire from an impact alone. A really strange crash for different reasons, and at the very least, this settles the halo debate once and for all.
  3. https://www.11v11.com/matches/blackpool-v-bristol-rovers-05-may-1990-142972/ Total attendance: 6,776 But apparently they took 7,000
  4. Another ? from me on Fontaine’s DC. Missed them at Glasto but I hear they’re ace live
  5. I've no basis for this, but I always assumed it worked so that the owner takes a larger slice of the club, diluting the value of other shareholders in the process. So let's say there are 100 shares of Bristol Rovers. Wael owns 49 shares and other investors own 51 shares. So 49% v 51%. The club has racked up debts to Wael. Instead of calling in the debt, Wael can capitalise it as equity instead. So the club will create maybe 20 extra shares, all going to Wael (so it's now 69 shares v 51 shares). This leaves the split at 57.5% v 42.5%. So the other investors own the same number of shares as before, but they are now worth less as Wael has taken a bigger chunk of the pie as part of the debt capitalisation. The club's value remains exactly the same theoretically. It's just distributed differently internally. I could be way, way off but this is how I assumed it works, and I think it's this practice which has allowed Wael to take control of Rovers. Fully prepared to be ripped to shreds here now!
  6. That stadium is happening then. Can't lie, that's commitment, still a long way to go but this might be it for the sags. Along with the Colony and this London academy thing, things are going on. Not quite the backing we have I'm sure but those sorts of the things are what has been causing the club to be such an embarrassment, amongst other things of course.
  7. Yep exactly this. One of my 'saner' Rovers-supporting mates spoke to me after they played Coventry, he couldn't believe just how good Liam Walsh was. He said if he can't get into the City team then that shows just how big the gulf is these days.
  8. And what about the younger footballers who might be on £500 a week?
  9. Their wage/turnover ratio is almost identical to ours. No self-awareness whatsoever.
  10. Spot on. Not sure but I actually think we possibly could have fit their entire last attendance in just the bottom tier of our main stand! It must be close...
  11. This has escalated into banter and a bit of a history lesson, but Miah is usually alright and pretty self-deprecating (towards the sags of course) on here to be fair ?.
  12. So.... they must be there or thereabouts out of money from the £15m they lent against the 'stadium' now? Does that not make them up some sort of metaphorical creek? EDIT: Ah it seems they've increased their borrowing limit to £17.5m. So with £13m now used (up to last June), they must be pushing that new limit already, and even the value of the Mem would not offset that. Doesn't look sustainable in any way, and without the owner writing off or propping up the finances....
  13. Yeah I'm with you on that one. Walsall fans seem underwhelmed but he'll get them straight back up imo. He can probably take them further than he could ever have taken the sags, and their bitter tears will be beautiful to watch.
  14. I actually forgot about this. You're absolutely right, Steve Hamer (I think) said the lease was up at the end of this season. So as it stands... Rovers currently are unable to sign players until they get their accounts in, and as far as we know are without a training ground.
  15. I had this in my memory as well but it seems we played them 5 times, and won 3 of them, drawing 2.
  16. Maybe we see it differently then. I wouldn't say heavily but I spend a lot of time around Kingswood high street unfortunately and I'd say it's quite prevalent. Maybe it's bad timing?
  17. Can confirm it is at best (from a sag perspective) 50:50 in those two areas. With lots of building in the area I think it's been 'invaded' by reds. In my experience Kingswood is still heavily Rovers to be fair.
  18. No it looks like this is going to only end one way. Really sad this, and banter aside for one second, that must be pretty grim for Warnock and the Cardiff lot too.
  19. Probably deserves a big step up to be fair.
  20. Yeah sensible post I'd agree with most of the above. I can see Cotterill being tempted given he lives in Bristol, but let's not forget he will have earned a decent wedge with his last 3 clubs being City, Forest and Birmingham. Rovers would most likely be unable to compete with those salaries.
  21. Let's not kid ourselves. He did very well at that club. Yes he's on the brink of relegation with them again but they've had naff all investment which ultimately is why he's not there any longer.
  22. Pretty sure we played the exact opposite of this under Cotterill
  23. Robbie Fowler just confirmed on Soccer AM he's applied for the job.
