  1. Five pages in already so I'm sure it's been done to death, but from my perspective, I'm fully appreciative of the general benevolence, the effort, and quite obviously the finances. What do I want? Well, it's simple, I think a huge step would be to get people into the right roles at the top level. People who know what they're doing, people with experience, and in the correct roles. Not people who have 'grown into' roles, not people who are doing multiple roles, but a normal, proper structure at this level. From what I gather having read a lot on here, we are miles off in that regard. I honestly think that change alone, with his backing, would set us in the right direction. It might mean SL having to give up a little control, but that's the point. You employ people in roles precisely because they know what to do. If we had 4 or 5 people in the correct roles with proper experience it feels like it would optimise the investment, and make so much more of an impact. The Lansdown's have perhaps had the right intention with a totally wrong execution. I'm finding the situation very frustrating at times but I'm very thankful for what they've done. I just wish they would be a lot smarter at the top level. We've had a hint of what it was like, and it's even more annoying because we sort of had it right not too long ago. But it would inevitably trickle down and perpetuate throughout the club as a consequence. Getting rid of NP was all that more frustrating because it felt like precisely the opposite direction of where we should be going, given the context of what I wrote above.
  2. I think it'll hurt everyone. Sure they can take their big revenues away but within 5 years the Super League will be boring as shit. Nothing sounds worse to me than the same 8 teams playing against each other endlessly.
  3. Word for word pretty much agree with all of this. It was a public vote though to be fair (I think?).
  4. Spot on, and I know the exact pie you're on about, it was banging! To be fair I've only been doing this a few years myself so still not completely up to speed on it all. I think processing-wise the fake meats aren't the best, but you could say the same about a huge chunk of meat products as well. But fair play to you, any effort is a good effort particularly over Christmas. I'm not sure which one we'll be going for but I've had the THIS Isn't Roast Chicken and it was really decent, and we will be having a practice run Thursday night with the Sainsbury's Taste The Difference one. The biggest tip I could give you is these though, eye-waveringly expensive but they are better than any 'real' Yorkshire pudding I've ever had. Honestly it will never be the same as actual turkey or beef, it just won't, but my Dad is in his 60's and not veggie in the slightest, and is voluntarily giving up his turkey/beef this year to share the fake stuff we're having as he liked it so much last time, and we are not the type to pressure him at all, quite the opposite. It really has come a long way. But to bring it back for the meat eaters, slow-cooked beef is far better than turkey, even at Christmas.
  5. Jake Humphrey and his 'High Performance' Podcast. People playing music on their phones loudly on the bus or in public is a big one. How can anyone feel comfortable doing that? If someone paid me to do that I'd feel uncomfortable within about 3 seconds. Asda Bedminster. Asda Longwell. Just Asda. The M32 roundabout at Eastville. Not even the drivers on it, just the piss poor design of it. People cut me up all the time on there and I don't even blame them because no one has a clue and for all I know I'm heading to ****ing Latvia. Someone putting in 5.30pm work calls, particularly on a Friday. Just because you don't have a life that doesn't mean I don't have one.
  6. Yup, and can't wait for it. Nothing can exactly replace the actual meat joint, but everything else is pretty much bang on the same if you make the right adjustments, and to be fair even some of the mock joints now are ****ing brilliant.
  7. Very interesting... I wonder if that's a festival sort of theme or just a run of gigs on different nights. Good idea to brand it this way regardless.
  8. You're missing the poll option for big YES to Yorkshires and the sprouts ****ing off. If anything Jesus' birthday warrants more Yorkshires. It's what he would have wanted.
  9. I must admit I'd never heard about this! Need to get that book in now.
  10. Stranger things have happened though I really can't see for as long as we have our current ownership. It's a shame, if he ever did come back after a bad run by an existing manager, I can only imagine what the atmosphere would be like, a real lift and fight behind the club once again. One can hope..
  11. Not for everyone of course but he's just reviewed the Koocha vegan roast - had it myself and it's outstanding stuff. Really impressive.
  12. Oh I see what you're saying, I thought you meant calling for him to be sacked. I do agree I think we as a fanbase should be doing better to keep the heat off of Manning, I think generally most people are doing that though and directing their frustrations above him.
  13. Who's been doing that? I haven't seen many (if any) posts suggesting that. Complaining about the board's ineptitude in getting to this situation isn't the same as wanting LM gone, or not wanting him to succeed.
  14. Oh for **** sake. I hadn't clocked this at the time but this is exactly what has happened isn't it?
  15. Isn't it mad that not that long ago we had an actual functioning CEO, a manager who knew how to manage, and Tins in the correct role to suit his expertise. It's almost as if getting the right people in for the right jobs actually works isn't it.
  16. Yep exactly. And just like you, as much as I feel checked out / disinterested, etc, I should clarify that I clearly think LM is a decent bloke and of course I want him to do well. I’m completely clear on that. It says a lot that even through inconsistent results, you could see what Pearson was doing. It was always the right direction and I’m certain we’d have been in the play offs within the next 2 seasons had that continued. From then on then who knows, but it would have been better than this. Optimism is just gone now. I’ve watched no more than 10 mins of City without switching over since LM came in and haven’t been down the Gate, just totally disinterested.
  17. Lost interest the minute Pearson was sacked and things are only getting worse. At least before that, we as fans at least had the illusion of having some sort of a say in the club, a bit of influence. Now we all know it’s only the owner’s opinion that matters and sod the rest of the paying lot. I’d take Nige back in a heartbeat as bizarre as it would be. Never been so disinterested in City, and it’s not just being dramatic. I feel mentally checked out.
  18. Must admit I find this a bit weird too, but let's be clear - 'offensive' was one of the terms used, but they also said it was 'old-fashioned' and 'irrelevant', so it wasn't all around offence. I do think it is all a bit cringeworthy and completely old-fashioned to be fair - and it was called upon by the students, so arguably it should ultimately be up to them. Can't say it should really bother anyone either way though. Incidentally I graduated over a decade ago from a different uni and have no recollection of the anthem being played there either - I don't think it's really a big deal.
  19. Anyone here been to KIBOU? I've heard great things, quite looking forward to trying it out.
  20. That double pillar is incredible. Can't wait to see some fan pics from those seats.
  21. This is absolutely spot on but on my side I don't really think it's a negative. Whether intentional or not, I'd rather have someone who is either being too truthful or incapable of being anything other than transparent, over another Mark Ashton type character or whatever the alternative would be. Not that I think SL is the latter for one second, but I think JL being unable to fumble his way around a tricky question is not necessarily a bad thing for us as a club. Maybe I find myself being too quick to jump to his defence after some of the battering he got on here, I'm not sure, and I have absolutely no idea of his actual competence in role, I can only go on what people say. I suppose I'm saying that I'd take his method of communication over a smooth talker who ultimately says nothing. I think the only reason JL basically said nothing yesterday is because the questions didn't really demand anything of interest.
  22. Completely agree with this stance but in all fairness they've all been fine. It's more that the questions have been basically pointless.
  23. Is the location of supporters really the most important thing needing discussion at the moment?
