I'm genuinely surprised to see the views on Tommy on here. The issue isn't Tommy, the issue is we don't provide enough opportunities for a lone striker and haven't done for some time.
Doesn't matter who we have in that role atm, you can only do so much when you have very little service. We've had Tommy, Bell, Wells and Cornick play that role, none of them look prolific and that's because they simply don't get the supply they need. I think we could take any striker and put them in this team as that central striker role and they'd struggle.

Full time, absolute credit to the team for that performance, grit by the bucket load, amazing periods of play, nothing to feel bad about in that performance at all.

That cross from Cornick was into such a great area, shame we didn't have anyone there in time.

Great delivery that, unfortunately, the head was so poor.

Had no composure, found it and now lost it again , we deserve at least a draw
A lot of changes and West Ham don't want extra fixtures so they're going for it. We're actually pretty well composed as we're holding firm, only issue is we can't get the ball because we can't press as we normally do because we're pinned back. Good composure comes from holding the shape and preventing them from scoring.

Watch the runs he makes left to right across the edge of their box - he makes a lot of space. He already did it once and took 3 defenders with him making space for Knight.
Yeah I know he makes these runs but more often than not we don't make those cutting passes, as I said prior, I hope to be proven wrong but I don't think he fits the new style of play.

Except the old boy given an opportunity knows where the net is still
Yeah I actually just posted saying he'll probably geet a few goals but for those goals he just doesn't provide enough on the pitch elsewhere for me.

Old heads I think with him and James.
Yeah I think so too, I think Weimann is done for us, he'll probably get a few goals throughout the season but he just doesn't offer us much in this new set up.

Can’t be any worse than AM.
Disagree a lot, Mehmeti runs at players, that constant having to backtrack really runs down defenders legs, it's hard work. Weimann doesn't offer much at all.

Not sure about Weimann coming on but I'm happy for him to prove me wrong.

We're really clicking now but we need to stay alert to West Hams counter, right now we're all over them but they have that quality to play one good pass and cut through our defence, time to stay alert.

You give Tommy a chance and he'll more often than not score, just a shame we can't create those opportunities for him more often.

Got to be honest we’re looking like National league team here for the day out…. Distinctly average thus far, not sure we even have a midfield right now the way the West Ham are cutting through it.
Sorry but you're so far off the mark, cut out the first 5 minutes and it's been a very even game, we started looking very weak but since that we've very much come into the game and battled hard. If losing 1-0 at half time to a strong Premier League team and fighting hard is not good enough for you I don't think we'll ever be able to please you.

Unlucky Dickie, either side of the keeper and that may have been an equaliser, shame it was right down the middle.

well read Max, charging out
Not really relevant but this is why I rate Max, he makes those kinds of decisions very quickly. We lacked that with Bentley, he put too much stock in his shot stopping because it was his strength so he didn't claim the ball as much, didn't stand high in his box to be in position to make those charges etc. A lot of Max's qualities get overlooked.

Biggest plus I can take from this so far is our press, we've had them panicked a few times on the ball because of well times pressing trains, you can see us getting better at it and to see it working at times against a Premier League team shows we are learning new things.
Our final third quality is still the main issue, we lack creativity in that final third that creates better quality chances in better positions.- 5

It was the fall that did the damage.
Yeah but Conway went under him, taking away his ability to land from his jump, that was actually more dangerous than Williams lunging challenge, one tip of a body in the air and a player can come down very awkwardly. I didn't see if Conway was booked but the fact the foul has caused an injury shows how dangerous it can be.

Surprised they are doing it against a Champ team though
I'm not, they'll have done their homework and we're not as confident defending whilst running back, we have weak areas so they'll invite those situations. Even the ball despite not being a counter showed the quality they have of breaking a line, no-one was aware of the run.
-
weird one that from Conway, running in like that with no challenge for the ball, could have been booked for that.

Hesitate to say we are dominating here but WH have so much quality on the break
This is how West Ham play though, they soak up pressure and hit on the counter, they have a low possession stat but hit hard on the counter.

Top Six.
Any evidence this team could survive in PL?
I mean not many teams who go up in the play offs compete in the Premier League, not to mention they strengthen before the season starts to even have a chance.
I get the frustration from our fans but this is a Premier League team who beat Spurs twice, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd this season so far and are currently sixth and people are criticising us for not looking like we're on par with them. Seems a little deluded to me to think we're going to look the better team, if anything I'd say we started off looking crap and now we're looking pretty good all things considered when you look at the difference in quality.- 7

Everytime Pring goes up against someone they end up on the floor looking dazed and yet he's not fouling anyone

West Ham connections = loans

The thing is we have TGH so does he lose more game time for this lad and potentially he ends up not getting enough time and doesn't want to join because of that? I don't like loans unless they have solid deals in place to become permanent unless they are emergencies due to injury. If we had a lot of long term injuries in a certain position then fair enough but for me we should be looking to loan out more than loan in.
