  1. To be fair to them, last time we played Leeds at home I was chatting to a few of their fans about an hour before the kick off and they pointed out that ‘Atyeo’ was spelled incorrectly on all the signs within the boundaries of the stadium which showed the layout of the four stands - they did it in a very respectful, pro ‘talking about your best ever player’ sort of way - and I was very grateful to them and thought very differently of the average Leeds fan after that - I passed on their feedback to the club ...
  2. All this is very odd - they should have given the manager’s job to Sean Dyche and then sailed happily back up into the premier league ...
  3. Perhaps it’s to do with them daring to wear quarters too?!
  4. Would you trust Wiki or Neil Diamond to tell the truth?!
  5. Nope, the thunderstorm thing was at a different time - it had nothing to do with the legal action - that was about an entirely different issue at an entirely different time ... unlike you to get your facts completely wrong ...
  6. ... and the 17 year old playing for Scunthorpe - scored an own goal to put you 1-0 up on his debut, then was subbed off after 27 mins and has now been released by Scunthorpe - yeh, that all seems pretty legit and fair, full of integrity and professionalism ... ??
  7. Neil Diamond has famously said that it wasn’t about JFK’s daughter, it was in fact about his wife at the time - but he said the name in the title of the song had to be three syllables to work so he temporarily changed his wife’s name from ‘Marsha’ to ‘Caroline’ to make the song work - rock n roll eh?!
  8. I reckon Northern Ireland nicked Sweet Caroline from Neil Diamond ... ??
  9. Didn’t 6 of the Scunthorpe starting 11 have a grand total of 5 appearances between them?! And Keith Hill’s pre match comment: “We’re not going there to roll over and allow Rovers to celebrate” ???????
  10. So, if Watford fielded a team full of players from their youth and U18 teams tonight in their game against Everton - do you think the premier league would act upon the inevitable complaints from Burnley and Leeds? I think they would - especially if Everton stuck 7 goals or more past a group of inexperienced kids ... Scunthorpe should be ashamed of themselves for their total lack of integrity and professionalism - they owed Northampton Town, and other clubs, a proper performance but they basically accepted they’d lose the game heavily with the line up they sent out. If it were down to me, Scunny would receive a huge fine, roverzzz would be docked six points for allowing their fans to invade the pitch during a game and then roverzzz vs Scunny should be replayed. No way you’d score 7 against a proper Scunthorpe line up (the previous time you scored 7 was 1964 wasnt it?!) - and even if you did, the six point deduction would render it pretty much meaningless - but it will all be swept under the carpet anyway as it’s not high profile enough to warrant any interest or investigation. I’d love Watford to do the same thing tonight - just to see the reaction of the media, premier league clubs and premier league officials when it ended Hornets 0 Everton 8 - it would be sooo much different to the apparent indifference and apathy surrounding the Scunthorpe debacle ...
  11. I was sat next to Jeff Stelling for that game - for some reason he was in the Williams Stand - absolute top bloke - took the result and subsequent ribbing really well - a true pro
  12. Just for a change I thought I’d suggest this one - for the zillionth time! ??????
  13. For some reason, doing my animal conservation work has brought me into contact with quite a few gasheads - they are obviously strutting about at the minute, huge smiles on their faces and waxing lyrical about a team manager they previously hated and vowed never to support ... Obviously I’ve waded in with stuff like “wow, you stuffed a combination of the youth team and U18 team of the worst team in the whole league (yep, all 4 divisions) to finish 3rd in division 4” ... and they can’t fathom that, take it in or accept it - I just get grunts of “Bristol City, we’re coming for you” So I indulge the pathetic pirates and remind them that they’d better ‘come for Exeter, Cheltenham and Forest Green Rovers first’ cos those clubs currently significantly outperform the Sags - again, I get looks of disbelief and utter astonishment as they can’t compute they are simply an insignificant little club in the south west ...
  14. Yeovil Town represent their own town with that song too - a proper Somerset club singing a proper Somerset song - lovely ..
  15. **** “Drink Up Thy Zider” - amazing how many fans get the title wrong ... also, I believe fans of Yeovil Town FC still sing this ditty ...
  16. Coventry are sort of Central/East Midlands aren’t they? Could be wrong ...
  17. Cheers Dave, incidentally, how do you know what Nigel told the players on Thursday?! You always claim you are not ITK - then you post stuff like that which seriously suggests you are totally in touch with the inner circle?!!! ????
  18. Which game was that mate? I don’t think we ever beat the gas 1-0 in Tinnion’s time as a player? I could be wrong - the Malbec doesn’t help! But please enlighten me ... cheers ??
  19. You haven’t ever sold out the Mem - it’s capacity was 12,300 and you never sold out that capacity - anyway, more importantly, best wishes for your hospital appointment on Monday - hope it goes well ?
  20. Typical gas exaggeration - this time downwards! The capacity of the Mem was 12,300 - and you never ever sold out - the closest you got was 12,011 vs West Brom - never got close before and since ... you’ve never had a sellout at a tiny stadium - yet Joey Barton claimed recently you could pack out Ashton Gate - capacity 27,000?!! Your tiny home crowd could fit into ONE of our four stands with plenty of room to spare ... NOW do you get why we laugh at you?!
  21. I was purely talking about this season in response to a post that appeared to be about this season - so the figures I quoted were just for this season and show a net spend of around £30m - apologies for any misunderstanding
  22. I read your original post as being about this season (when you said ‘yet again’) so I was purely commenting on figures relating to this season - apologies
  23. I always thought Steve Torpey and Martin Carruthers was the best striking partnership Scunthorpe ever had ... ??
  24. Yep, he’s shelled out around £124m this season but he’s recouped at least £90m in transfers out - so has he really ‘spent an absolute fortune’ ?
