  1. They weren’t all league goals though?
  2. What’s wrong with “Blackbird”?! The boys down at Somerset CCC play it, and sing it, after a victory and so do the Bears - a classic West Country ditty - what have you got against it?
  3. It may be just me - but saying “there is another big stadium in Bristol” seems to suggest he thinks the Mem is a big stadium too ... makes his diatribe even more laughable ... ???
  4. No such thing as a nothing game - I went to an away game AFTER we had been relegated - it was 5-2 - superb stuff and I ended up staying all weekend and having a blast ... lots of City fans did the same - it was brill. I also went to a 2-3 away triumph at Pompey when we had nothing to play for but they desperately needed the win in their promotion quest - again, ended up staying there for the weekend and loved it! Following your team and being with your fellow Bristolians just doesn’t recognise the term “a nothing game” ... ??
  5. When did Brighton and Palace share a ground? I don’t recall that. According to a Palace fan I know, the rivalry stems from a series of incidents throughout the 1970s, especially at Cup ties, when Alan Mullery and Terry Venables were the respective managers ... I didn’t realise the clubs shared a ground?
  6. ... or, as they pleaded with Bath City ... “Gimme Shelter” ...
  7. There are many examples of clubs who have been relegated from the premier league since parachute payments were introduced and have never made it back - eg Reading, Brum, Bolton, Huddersfield, Blackburn, Derby, Cardiff, Swansea, Hull, QPR etc etc
  8. Oh, ok ... here's some more recent ones - ranging from 2008 to 2019 - all these clubs were relegated from the premier league with parachute payments and haven’t been back since - there’s probably more examples too: Reading 2013 Birmingham City 2011 Derby County 2008 Bolton Wanderers 2012 Blackburn Rovers 2012 Swansea City 2018 QPR 2015 Huddersfield Town 2019 Cardiff City 2019 Hull City 2017
  9. Man City, Leeds, Charlton, Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City, Ipswich Town, Barnsley etc etc etc - relegated from the premier league and struggled like hell to get back, most even getting relegated to the third tier - and most haven’t ever got back to the promised land ... it ain’t easy
  10. I assume part of this response is aimed at me, but I didn’t call your club ‘scum’ or ‘vile’ in the post to which you replied ... and I wouldn’t, because my Dad, my Grandad and my Great Grandad were all roverzzzz fans ...
  11. No such thing as a ‘free promotion’ - especially from the fifth best division in the world - any club who gets promoted from the championship has done extremely well and a huge amount of the credit for that should be shoved the way of the manager - this division is not easy to get out of ...
  12. Yep, probably at Rangers or Aberdeen ... ??
  13. Appreciate your reply Phil but I respectfully disagree. I can’t see how I have lowered myself to their level - I haven’t hysterically shrieked about getting the gashead banned instantly etc - inevitable that @In the Net would react positively to your post though ...
  14. Not really ‘hit a nerve’ Miah - both yourself and In The Net are welcomed on here, and rightly so, but nothing about 1982 is remotely amusing to Bristol City fans and any snide remarks about that period of time from a gashead on here will be met with appropriately vitriolic responses. Your club acted disgracefully at that time and has subsequently done so in other situations. You have nothing to crow about regarding how football clubs treat people or local businesses. And do bear in mind that a City fan can’t even have an opinion on your sad forum, can’t express any opinion on any issue without an instant ban. You are lucky to be here, so your cosy posts to another gashead on this forum regarding an extremely emotive subject are just not funny and probably won’t elicit the ‘arm around the shoulder, we are glad to have you here’ responses you expect ... anyway, as you were
  15. Not weird at all - I’ve stuck to that mantra all my life - no way I’d drive around with blue and white quarters on a steering wheel and on the bonnet - call me sad and pathetic but that’s the way it is - plus I don’t like BMWs anyway! ??????
  16. A snipe of any equivalence by a City fan on your sad forum would result in an instant ban ... another example of your inferiority complex - anyhow @Peter O Hanraha-hanrahan‘s response to your hilarious jibe says it all really
  17. ... in case he drove past Robbored’s minibus full of sags on their way to “Wembly” ?!
  18. Well said, Rovers tried to ‘steal’ Ashton Gate from us when we were at our lowest ebb then objected to us being given an offer of financial help by local authorities, so that offer of help was withdrawn - yet they still squeak, squeal and complain that the local authorities do nothing to help them ... in 1982 they circled around like bloodthirsty vultures and they’ve acted in a similar fashion towards other clubs - like when Pompey was in dire financial straits; which club do you think it was who steamed straight into that situation to see if they could pick up any Pompey players for way below their market value ... yep, the squatting vultures ... 1982, never forget, never forgive ...
  19. I’d place Mr Warnock ahead of those two in a ‘director of football’ role or ‘chief football consultant’ type gig
  20. Yep, I had a long chat with JMc at the Coventry home game ... he didn’t seem to be there for any ‘sinister’ reason
  21. They are like that annoying nephew who you strive to avoid all year, then when he turns up at Christmas you instantly realise why you dislike him ...
  22. Beer had an important part to play in me discovering I can’t dance ...
  23. .... and it’s subsequently evolved all the way to @Davefevs‘ spreadsheets - a veritable journey ?
