  1. Yep, but Jason is a Londoner ... given his legendary performances for everyone’s second fave team perhaps he should have been selected for England ...
  2. There was at least one Bristol City flag too ...
  3. Wrexham has loads of competition for a fanbase - the two teams in Liverpool are the same distance away as Crewe and people from Wrexham can get to both Liverpool clubs in 45 minutes - they can also get to both Manchester clubs in an hour - comparing that to Plymouth is just madness ...
  4. I’ll come with you as I’ve heard we may be launching a women’s beach volleyball team and I’ve volunteered to be head of recruitment on that one ...
  5. Can’t seem to quote your original post since you edited it ... but I thought we threw the term ‘Gasheads’ at them as term of abuse rather than ‘the Gasworks Team’ as your post says? You then say they adopted ‘The Gasworks Team’ but shortened it to ‘The Gas’ to describe their club ... my recollections are very different - we called them ‘Gasheads’ relentlessly until they decided to call themselves the same term - I cannot recall us throwing ‘The Gasworks Team’ at them as a term of abuse - I could be wrong though ... ??
  6. In which game vs Preston were we ‘immense’ this season? The 0-0 game at home or the 2-2 draw away when we conceded a 95th minute equaliser?!
  7. So did Danny Wilson - and he came here too! He also managed another premier league club before he came to BS3 ?
  8. What makes you say that? We are an established Championship club, we play in a fabulous City, as do Norwich - we undoubtedly pay competitive managerial salaries, we have a dedicated, committed Bristolian owner who has demonstrated loyalty to his football club managers, we have a fantastic stadium, better than Norwich’s home - given all that, why couldn’t we attract Farke? However, we don’t currently have a Head Coach/Manager vacancy - so it’s all pretty irrelevant anyway ???
  9. Which is exactly what I said ... ???
  10. To be fair he’s probably held onto his previous houses whilst moving around - Solihull would have been a good base for his stint at Villa - a bit of a trek to Derby and Wolves (over an hour’s drive to each in morning traffic?) so he probably has houses near those places too ...
  11. Yeh, but at least you would eventually get in the ground and sing ...
  12. No it’s not, he lives (with his family) next door to my mate’s sister and not far away from me - in Bristol ...
  13. Surely someone with your extensive media/journalistic background would know it’s ‘Qatar’ and not ‘Quatar’ or ‘Quater’ ... ???????
  14. Not lucky - I just deleted the guff I was about to post because I realised it was incorrect ...
  15. Superb! I gained some sort of notoriety too when following The Jags - I remember a freezing cold 0-0 draw away at Celtic - it was a dreadful game, then about five minutes from the end, someone from within the 6,000 Partick following shouted “well, at least I haven’t travelled up from Bristol for this shite” - happy days!
  16. I thought Inverness had three teams that merged in the early 1990s to gain Scottish league status? Wasn’t it Caledonian FC, Inverness Thistle and Clachnacuddin FC that became one?
  17. I followed Partick Thistle home and away throughout the 80s and 90s - superb memories and great people! I’m still in contact most of them now. I used to drive up on a Friday lunchtime, dump my car and get into The Abbotsford Inn in Bearsden where I’d meet the boys and then chaos, and laughing until you choked, ensued for 48 hours. When EasyJet started flying from Bristol to Glasgow, it got to the point where the Partick manager would pick me up from Glasgow Airport when he knew I was coming up - what a club! The Scots know they are a relatively small country in the world of football, but wow, they certainly know how to get behind their teams. The passion of the Partick Thistle fans is unbelievable - especially away from home. Following Elgin sounds like it was a great time for you too, cheers ?
  18. Absolutely - even reserve team fixtures and age group games between the two attract ridiculous crowds and passion - I remember a Rangers vs Celtic reserve team bout having a crowd of over 20,000 not so long ago (mid 1990s?) ... and in 1986 over 40,000 turned up to watch the old firm play in the final of The Glasgow Cup - a fixture featuring mainly reserve team players from both sides and equivalent to our long lost Gloucestershire Cup competition ... and here’s some footage from a Rangers vs Celtic u-17s game in 2013 clearly showing the rivalry and passion - played at the home of football ...
  19. Fair play - but harsh to dismiss the standard of a division as ‘Downs football at best’ when you haven’t watched any games involving any teams from that division ... I’ve been watching top tier games in Scotland since the 1980s and it certainly is not as bad as you and @Robbored make out
  20. Have you watched many Scottish Premiership games?
  21. There are more than two clubs in Glasgow you know - well you obviously didn’t know ... get yerself to The Jackie Husband stand on a cold Saturday afternoon and sing along with the chaps - “Hello, hello, how do you do? We hate the boys in royal blue, we hate the boys in emerald green, so ... (unprintable end to the chant)” ??
  22. Yep, and dear old @Robbored even starts threads about the top division in Scotland even though he won’t talk about it or watch it! And I’m sure he continually calls it the SPL just to wind me up! He must know by now that an entity called the SPL does not exist north of the border ... ??????
