  1. I was tempted but decided not to, even though it hurt! ??
  2. That is very fair enough ExiledAjax - I didn’t realise @Mr Sno was new here - sincere apologies and welcome to the new guy ... ??
  3. ... to quote the infamous Chandler: ... “can open, worms everywhere...” ??
  4. Yep, but you said NP has “only ever managed BIG clubs” ... and yep, you put ‘BIG’ in capital letters, as if to emphasise the point, so you were including his first club - and I don’t think that receiving parachute payments makes a club ‘BIG’ overnight ...
  5. ... that’ll be Steve Coppell esq ... ??
  6. Yep, it’s really that simple ... after all, NP isn’t operating under any restrictions is he? He’s not trying to mop up the mess left by the reckless regime of LJ and MA is he? He has free rein to do whatever he wishes doesn’t he?! Good grief, the lack of awareness amongst some of our fans is frightening ...
  7. ... like Carlisle United and Hull City ?! “BIG” ... ??
  8. You’ve made this all sound much more sinister than it really was. The “off field reasons” you’ve mentioned with regard to him leaving Leicester were about the actions of his son ... there was no insinuation that Nigel had done anything wrong. And the ‘suspension and internal investigation’ at Derby was simply because he had a row with the club’s owner (Mel Morris) when the owner started using drones to observe Nigel’s training sessions. I’d expect any manager worth his salt to object to being ‘observed’ in that way. So, despite the way you worded your summaries of his departures from Leicester and Derby, I don’t believe Nigel did anything wrong on both occasions ...
  9. How had Pearson’s reputation “dipped” ?
  10. Great post but I don’t agree with all of it - eg when you say we didn’t have a fan base before now - I was amongst a 38,000 crowd at Ashton Gate in the 1970s ... sort of disproves your assertion ...
  11. When did Cotts, LJ and Coppell agree that Bristol City is ‘a strange club’ ?!
  12. “Doing badly at Boro...” - when Warnock left Boro they were THREE points from the play offs - with 31 games left to play ... you call that “doing badly” ... ???? - most successful manager ever in our game (promotions) - he knows how to get out of the championship - every manager we’ve had since Steve Coppell doesn’t know how to get promoted from the championship, except our current gaffer - Neil Warnock, a national treasure, a top bloke, an extremely successful football manager, an icon who continually conned gullible, naive and hysterical fans with his media persona ... I’d have him at our club as a Consultant/director of football instantly - Warnock and Pearson - the partnership to strike fear into championship football clubs ... ?????????
  13. Blimey - did you clear them all out with your shrewd spread betting?!
  14. Isn’t the William Hill bookies still there in Clevedon Walk, Nailsea?
  15. Fair play French, I appreciate the reply. I guess I’ve always tried to look at the bigger picture - rather than just zoning in on the minutiae of individual performances right now, I think it’s worth remembering the LJ and MA years left a legacy that would impact the freedoms of any incoming head coach - and the fact we managed to attract a new manager of the calibre of Nigel Pearson given all the apparent restrictions is simply amazing - I choose to support him and the chaps through this very difficult time - you choose to walk away, that’s fine - we are probably both wrong!! ??
  16. ... yes we have, we won the 2nd tier as champions in 1906, then we were runners up in the top division in 1907, we were runners up in the second tier in 1976, then we spent four seasons in the top tier finishing higher than we ever did under LJ ... and there are other examples in between all those stats ... the brainwashed young uns eh?! LJ’s contribution to our history would probably warrant a line just below Gary Marshall’s ‘assists stats’ ... ??
  17. ‘roy Lita’ - ooh, loved him away at Brentford and Walsall .. ??
  18. That’s a horrid American phrase, in BS3 it means ‘out of one’s nut on Natch’ ... ?
  19. Totally understand your feelings and emotion Tony x3 - but I reckon you’ll be back, it’s clear that proper Bristol City fans won’t ever desert their club - and despite our ‘joustings’ on here I can tell you’re ‘proper’ - it’s pretty rubbish at the moment but we’ve been through far, far, far worse situations in our recent history yet the real fans stayed with the boys and gave them incredible support both at home and all over this country....
  20. Blimey - you obviously weren’t around in the early 1980s - the incredibly loyal Bristol City fans back then would have given anything to be in the position we are in now - yet we kept turning up, home and away. We never contemplated saying “that’s it for me” like the entitled ones say today ...
  21. Course they did “Tony x3” ... ???
  22. Not sure why you’ve labelled him ‘Fwank’ - strange. I feel for Frank Lampard, what a fantastic footballer he was (his work ethic during and after training sessions is well documented and is amazing) and what a top bloke he appears to be - listen to his exchange with James O’Brien on the radio way back when he called in on the anniversary of his Mum’s death to take O’Brien to the cleaners when that vile presenter broadcast that Lampard was a bad father - he had O’Brien squirming and backtracking. Frank is obviously a decent guy who is desperate to do well as a manager when he doesn’t need the dosh. He just wants to be still involved and he is trying so hard to get success ... “Fwank”?! ... embarrassing...
  23. Sorry to burst your bubble - they didn’t go straight back up - it took them three seasons to get promoted again ...
  24. Those were the days! And I hope you don’t mind me saying, but your forum name really should have been a character often referenced but never seen in Only Fools And Horses ... ??
