    Heart in mouth moment, that.

On another day Tanner goes - we were right by it and by Tanner’s reaction he thought he was off, and by the way Keith Stroud brandished the Yellow card “with force” at Tanner, he was probably a whisker away from a three match ban.

I thought for the majority of the game Stroud was as good as we’ve had down here (hardly noticed him for much of the game) there were just one or two incidents where he could have done a little more to stop the Wigan time wasting.

Had we won - no one would have really been complaining - Pearson took a gamble on rotating the front three and because Wigan belied their current position played pretty well it didn’t quite come off.

All the best to both, but especially Chris Martin. Instrumental in our survival last season and WSM was a joy second half of last year.

He never once gave less than 100% for the cause and I for one am grateful for his service. Think this opens up a return to Derby, which would be a great move for him if it materialises.

Plus those goals against Cardiff. Cult hero just for them!

And don’t forget ……. He scored our last PENALTY!!!!

Burnley as good as promoted already. Great free kick.

It was a good free kick - but it looked like the Burnley forward kicked the ground rather than be fouled and as such an awful decision by the ref!

Unless they reckon his leg got clipped in the backswing. Nearly impossible to see and be certain!

Something we never seem to get any benefit of the doubt!!

  4. I used to be a bit annoyed that season ticket seats weren't reserved, at least for a day - but then someone explained that as the Upper Lansdown wasn't open for the game, and there were Season Ticket holders up there who just couldn't buy their seats at all - then to allow "all Season Ticket holders" to buy a ticket of their choice - anywhere in the ground is the only fair way to do things.

I didn't get my usual seats for the Lincoln game so got online early to get them this time - it wouldn't have been the end of the world if I hadn't got them but you  miss the chat with the other usual supporters in your area.

What BCFC could have done was explain the reason why this action was taken rather than just say that your seat wouldn't be reserved!

My thoughts exactly.   A complete and utter piss take!

The issue with Pawson’s decision today was he knew he could give a soft penalty as VAR would look at it and make sure he hadn’t made a big mistake.

I stand by what I said last week - if we had VAR last weekend he would have given the first one, at least, knowing VAR could bail him out if necessary.

Premier League ref”s are not up to reffing any Championship game where VAR is not in existence.

Two incidents summed up how Referees go about their days work when Reffing us.

The one above, where the injured player doesn't have to leave the pitch and the one where their player gets booked and gets a free kick.

I'd love to see the assessors report and the refs reply, another letter incoming :preacher:

I’ve just got home (live in S Devon) and watched the highlights on BBC - the Semenyo one looks a stonewall pen - their player takes Semenyo out and definitively doesn’t get any of the ball and Pawson was well placed to see that. I really think Prem refs have got so used to using VAR they are not good enough to ref without it!

Either bring VAR into the Championship or don’t give us Prem refs!

Agree he waited far too long to get a card out. It was clear from the start that part of their game plan was to simply stop Conway and Scott by whatever means necessary.

The trainer incident and not leaving the field was interesting: pretty sure that something similar happened at Coventry. Second half when a Swansea player needed attention he was made to leave the field. I assume refs have some sort of discretion, but no idea what the criteria are meant to be.

If you’re referring to their player not leaving the field when being treated by the trainer - that’s because a Yellow card was shown for the tackle and under those situations the player doesn’t have to leave the field.  Them’s the rules!

  8. There should be two simple criteria when employing an announcer for this job:

    1. Does he have the voice that is clear and emotive (think Anfield)

    2. Is he a City fan??

Downsey doesn’t have the voice and isn’t a City (of even a football) fan

Sorry - we need him out (but not quite as much as Pearson!)

  9. I woke up this morning to City’s instagram post about this and like others was appalled at the two inexcusable mistakes make by the media team (or whoever put it together) getting the score graphics wrong on two of the 7 pages.

Yet more shocking quality coming out of Ashton Gate!

Unbelievable that this was wrong in the first place - but didn’t anyone check it first before it was posted!!

Clearly not the standard of work many of us would accept!!

  10. I for one have been someone who’s thought Pearson knew what he was doing more times than not - and a bit like Kane’s missed penalty at the World Cup - there are times when the Manager can’t be blamed for the players on the pitch.

But today’s interview has me thinking that he is absolutely to blame for those actually playing on the pitch, and for the tactics they employ.  This first half was so awful - yes we scored and from the one great move of the half Weimann hit the post - but we were so slow and didn’t have any imagination to break down another Alex Neil team.

We conceded such a soft goal that I’m sure Atkinson deals with - yet Pearson insists on playing one of his favourites out of position!  If he loses ‘trust’ with O’Leary will we see either King or James in goal??

Pearson’s comments after the match about who he trusted showed that perhaps his man management skills just aren’t up to Championship football - so perhaps his days are really numbered!

With a win today we would have been 4 Points off the playoffs where as we are now only 3 pts above the bottom 3 with a resurgent West Brom next up.

Think carefully Mr Lansdown - as you may need to act sooner rather than later!

  11. It does seem a bit harsh on those who can’t get to buy tickets until later in the day that the club can’t reserve your own seat for two days!!

Seems a poor decision which surely would make little difference to the number coming but would make Season Ticket holders feel a little more valued!!

How was your friends' evening, mate - did they get parked up ok?

Thanks everyone - they are coming on Saturday and December 17th!

Thank god they didn’t come last night as perhaps they may have asked for a refund!!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions I’ll pass them on.

    Great help.

    Cheers,

  13. Some friends of mine are coming to Ashton Gate from the Trowbridge area (and returning there after) and asked if I could find out the best place to park.

He has a seven year old son - so not too far would be good and they don’t mind paying!

I always come from the South so don’t really know the options!

    Anyone help?

    Cheers,

  14. Just watched the post match comments having recorded the game on Sky last night and all the pundits agree that Sharp was offside.

Even the Sheff Utd women player - they all agreed it should have been disallowed.

They also agreed that Norwood should have been sent off!

VAR would have provided the correct decision for both of these!

Poor ref’s are costing us and it’s about time this was resolved!

  15. In my experience the club has an ongoing problem of swearing - especially many of our away fans I have had the unfortunate pleasure of ending up sitting/standing near at away games.

There is swearing and there is swearing - some words are often spoken and generally accepted as “ok” swear words, whereas others ‘the C word’ for example are absolutely not ok!

When I was growing up I can remember being told that someone who swears only uses those words as they don’t have the correct vocabulary to use more appropriate words which don’t risk offending others.

The club encourages families and children to attend and they should be allowed to sit, or stand where they choose and expect not to be hounded or exposed to unnecessary foul language.

Use the clubs “hotline” and continue to complain where necessary.

My final comment to those who choose to swear, especially in a more horrible way, is to ask yourselves “would you use your chosen words in front of your own children or parents?  As I bet the majority wouldn’t!
