Guys and Gals lets not get Tins chucked out of this for cheating no deleting of cookies please lets let him win this fairly.

I am sure Brian would not like to win somthing as big as this by cheating it not in his nature

I agree, this is a big award lets win it fairly. Having said this, I'm sure the other clubs are cheating too. Ferdinand has suddenly caught the pace - funny that............ :dunno:

A small but possibly worthy point. There are no rules so how can anyone "cheat"?
Indeed there are no rules so how do we know who the winner will be. We all assume that the player with the most votes will win but that isn't stated anywhere. Call me cynical but I still think that the BBC will ensure that a Premiership player wins this.

Also, did anyone else almost make the same mistake as me? After years of always wasting my vote I almost voted for Craig Brewster of Dunfermline Athletic in a bizarre tactical voting moment.

In fact, the wording at the top of the page reads:

YOUR VOTES WILL DECIDE WHICH PLAYER OVER 35 WINS IT

"Votes" (plural). They're practically encouraging it, surely.

Tinnion now some 500 votes ahead of Les Ferdinand. Others droping behind. Going to be a long couple of days....

Can somebody better than me articulate the case for tinnion, and we then post it on other sites. Case for supporting 'old fashioned' values in a lower league side. Hapy to post in as many rivals sites as I can find!

Roberts now streaking ahead unfortunately - I've put a message on an Ipswich messageboard so hopefully we can get them voting aswell. It would be good if someone put a message on the Ipswich rivals board (I can't because I haven't been able to log in to rivals recently for some reason).

Currently 200 odd behind, maybe we should get some other div2 fans to vote, I'm sure they would rather someone from our division won it

Pinched from the City List:

Tinman is well aware of all this. From the Evil Post:-

TINNION'S A HIT ON THE RADIO

11:00 - 12 May 2004

Bristol City midfielder Brian Tinnion is hoping to celebrate an

unusual double success by the end of his team's extended season. Not

only is the Ashton Gate playmaker hoping to become a promotion

winner, but he is on course to emulate the great Gianfranco Zola as

Radio Five Live's Veteran Player of the Year!

The 36-year-old Robins star heads for Hartlepool on Saturday eager

for a repeat of his stunning winner at Victoria Park in January, but

is keeping an interested eye on the voting as far as his personal

tussle with fellow celebrated 'vets' is concerned.

Tinnion is currently neck and neck in first spot with Bolton's French

World Cup winner Youri Djorkaeff in the Five Live poll.

The BBC station's breakfast programme, hosted by Nicky Campbell and

Shelagh Fogarty, is running the contest for the second year, with

Chelsea legend Zola taking top prize the first time out.

Tinnion made it on to the eight-man short-list of 35-year-olds and

over after the BBC was swamped with email nominations from adoring

City fans.

He is currently jostling for places with Les Ferdinand (Leicester),

Nigel Martyn (Everton), Craig Brewster (Dunfermline), Iwan Roberts

(Norwich), David Eyres (Oldham) and Des Walker (Nottingham Forest).

The winner will be announced on the station's breakfast show on

Monday, two days before City's crucial second leg with Hartlepool.

Asked today whether he was aware of the poll, Tinnion smiled: "I was

told about it only yesterday by Pete Coleman of our academy.

"He reckoned I must have been emailing Five Live all weekend voting

for myself, and that I must have set up the competition in the first

place."
