Not sure we will play Gothenburg in Gothenburg. Could be in the close area in one of the holliday resorts. The Swedish Tourist Association has 320 hostels spread throughout Sweden. bristolcitysweden
Probably the best Swedish Tourist Association alternative in Gothenburg http://www.svenskatu...tigbergsliden-/ Which cancellation policy applies to reservations with STF? You must cancel your reservation no later than 18.00 the day before the planned date of arrival; otherwise you will be charged for one night. This also applies if you make your reservation on the arrival day and then do not come to the hostel. You should therefore make a special agreement on the cancellation rules if you book on the same day as you plan to arrive. If the hostel has had specific costs in connection to your booking you must pay for this too if you cancel. Deviations from these rules may occur; and the hostel then announces what rules apply when you make your reservation. Any special cancellation rules for online reservations will be easily found when you make your reservation. It's easy to get around by train http://www.sj.se/sj/...y.jsp?d=10&l=en Also the Swedish Tourist Association got many places to stay. Making a booking you can cancel it til the day before arrival if necessary. A good shout is to stay in Gothenburg and catch the train for the games. Trains are cheaper on "off hours". It's not likely City will sell packages. They diden't for Latvia.

I visited Sweden last summer to see friends in Norrkoping and watched IFK Norrkoping very impressive ground, but they are only a Superetten side. Great support made me very very welcome in my city gear! I see on the 17th July they are away to Trollhattan near Gothenburg, so may miss city's game against Vallens to go and meet up with them again. The Swedish Tourist Association got two central hostels in Gothenburg http://www.svenskaturistforeningen.se/en/Discover-Sweden/Facilities-and-activities/Goteborg/Vandrarhem/STF-Hostel-Stigbergsliden-/ http://www.svenskatu...ckeWendelsberg/ Stigbergsliden got about 20-25 free beds around the 13th/14th of July (called today). bristolcitysweden
A decent hotel alternative in Gothenburg http://www.sparhotel.se/ £45 per person and night breakfast included in a twin room. 18 min. with tram from the central station to "Spar Hotel Majorna". "Spar Hotel Gårda" is closer to the city center but more difficult to get rooms at I believe. http://www.tripadvis...h_Lakeland.html http://www.tripadvis...h_Lakeland.html Another hotellink that could be useful http://www.expedia.s...a=&srow=&rdct=

Also Majorna is a much nicer area of the city. Gothenburg is called "Little London" by the way. On a sunny day you can catch tram 9 or 11 to Saltholmen and from there go by commuting boat to one of the islands in the archipelago for example Vrångö. This can easliy be done over a day and is not expensive. Well in time for the tour I will put on a comprehensive Gothenburg good beer guide. bristolcitysweden
Halmstad BK was tonight knocked out of the Swedish Cup meaning they will not play any cup games on the 4th and 10th of July. Their first competitive game after the summer break will be against Gothenburg on the 17th, 18th or 19th of July. Have earlier been told it was not certain that the game versus City would be played after the Gothenburg v Halmstad game and tonights result might have an impact on the decison. Halmstad need a good game before they play Gothenburg and Sunday the 11th of July could be a possible date for the City game as things stand. I'm off to Gothenburg(!) tomorrow and probably can't update you before Thursday night.
