<br  />Seriously let's get this done. Are we looking at sooner rather than later? Some come up with a date and we can take it from there. Let's not talk about it, let's do it. Strike whilst the iron is hot. Some would ever suggest this weekend

we need to find out what his busiest days for it to have maxium impact

For it to be noticeable...you need numbers, and someone who everyone agrees, to be a spokes person, to the media and the like. Someone who knows the intricacies of this debacle, and is eloquent and confident in public talking. Having mindless chants and people behaving like idiots in front of cameras, is not what we want.

Before the Millwall game would be the most logical.

Bringing the Club and Supporters Club into it would make sense. Get as many knowledgeable people on board as possible. The last thing you need is an unorganised rabble.

Also...I wonder what the like of Massive Attack or Tony Robinson are up too in the coming few weeks. Having a 'face' on board, however shallow, makes more of an impact, especially with the media.

I think a protest is a must..And Ill definately be up for attending.

However I think it should probably be done sooner rather than later while the debate still lingers and its fresh in the mind. My worry is that Millwall is over 2 weeks away so alot of the heat would have died down, and also many who say they will take part may get caught up in the opening day hurrah.

But its only because it has a direct on us..Bristol City fans. The public/councillers/media will take notice for a short period before they just forget about it. IMO something needs to be done whilst its at the forefront of everyones thoughts.

Although I appreciate the last sentance. As long as the baboons iof our City are made to sit up and take notice.

Woulden't it be better to start the march from the new ground at Ashton Vale and walk down to AG? The media cover will not be different and we make the link clear between the new stadium and Sainsburys application. A hughe family picnic, speeches, a quite pint and then we all walk down to AG. Just a thought.

Cheers

Tommy

Worst possible time I reckon.

The police will be twitchy that day and far more chance of things going wrong and a march with good intentions gaining adverse publicity.

I think this is an occasion when the whole fanbase should congregate rather than a few hundred vociferous lads.

Last I heard 1 in 4 City season ticket holders were female - this is a time when the whole family should come out - far more chance of things progressing smoothly, and a greater chance also of attracting a sympathetic press if there's a good mixture of our support in evidence.

Nogbad, do you believe the police would have concerns about a family day walk from Ashton Vale on the 7th?

I reckon with Millwall in town they will have more concerns than at almost any other time.

First day of the season is lively at the best of times - usually hot and probably a bit more drinking than usual. Millwall just adds to the mix.

Logistically, from the police point of view, there would be the matter of shepherding several thousand ( hopefully) over a very busy Winterstoke Road, for instance, and presumably they wouldn't be escorting us as firmly as a trainload of away fans.

If it took place long before away fans were in evidence, and was really well arranged, it could work.

Thank's Nog :winner_third_h4h: If we walk from the new ground by the pub between AG and Long Ashton we don't have to cross any street. Shoulden't be any Millwall fans there.

If we walk past the Angel, I may well become a straggler.wink.gif

I think we've all been taken aback by the decision last night and somewhat unprepared for the consequences of it. I know that it has been slowly dawning on me throughout the day.

The Supporters Trust is taking stock and thinking about what would be an appropriate response to this. We already know the value and the difference a vociferous group supporting something they passionately believe in can make; it happens most weeks in football stadiums up and down the country. Can we make that sort of difference on the streets?

Any form of direct action or lobbying would have to be thought through and the objectives of doing so laid out in advance.

My personal view is that anything planned pre-Millwall would be difficult and could deflect from the opening day of the season for many fans. Based on previous years, there will probably be 4,000+ City fans at Ashton Gate on Open Day :shifty:

The words I used when responding to the press today were surprised, disappointed and angry. Finding a way to channel that lot is the challenge.......

It's time like this that the Supporters Club and Supporters Trust really could put thmselves to good use and encourage their members to any protest........

Yep, we're on it.

As posted on another thread though, worth taking a minute to think through the best possible response.

I think that getting music fans across bristol involved is also a great idea to swell numbers. After all this effects them too. As a big music fan myself it's a pain having to go to Cardiff brum or London if I want to see a band with even a decent sized following

the council are idiots look at in another way world cup tourism and more tourists attracted to the area and the all important thing a lot more money being spent and then there are the jobs that would be created along with the building of the stadium a new sainsbury store and houses so they either are very stupid or fickle as how else are we going to get the world cup to bristol
