Admin Maesknoll Red Posted August 25, 2013 Admin Report Share Posted August 25, 2013 I couldn't believe the booing for Clarke at the presentation, at least he tried to make a game of it. Just how idiotic a rule change was taking the choice to go off, away from the batsmen? It seems that Septic Bladder hasn't got a monopoly on moronic sport admin. Don't agree, 11 overs per hour is extremely poor and I believe under rules the captain could be fined a certain percentage of his match fee and suspended for 1 game if there is a repeat. I am sure that happened to Dhoni in Australia as well.

Indeed. If he'd bowled 15 the match would have been decided, win, lose, tie or draw. The situation today is a classic example of hard cases making bad law. When Pakistan tried to cheat England by dropping the over rate, Steve Bucknor quite rightly kept them out there. The subcontinent's officials, who dominate world cricket today, took umbrage and devised the new law. This was the result

And Its Smith
When time has been lost they should start the day earlier at 10.30. They do abroad but it would be unfair in England due to the extra help that would give the bowlers. England have embarrassed themselves at times in this series when slowing things down. Broad taking his boot off was blatant cheating. Every captain needs to look at themselves and ask if they are helping the game.

England have embarrassed themselves at times in this series when slowing things down. Broad taking his boot off was blatant cheating. Every captain needs to look at themselves and ask if they are helping the game. indeed this is very true, unfortunately the umpiring in this series has been woeful and the use of the technology has been as woeful and several times the umpires made it up on the hoof and as the series progressed the umpires lost the respect of the players. The most important thing to any sport (after safety) is the paying public, who were cheated by Michael Clarke and weak umpiring and the ICC needs to sort this quickly, there are already too many draws in test cricket people wasting 5 days of their lives watching captains manipulate results and sadly yes England would have done exactly the same, the only losers the paying public much like every sport in the world (especially football). He could have just batted the day out, that really would have been a boring, pointless day, I just don't see him as the real villian here, its the numpty ICC and their rule changes.
