The Police were filming City fans on the pitch. What happens with that footage?

Do they investigate further with a view to bring prosecutions? They filmed plenty of people holding flares at the 3 Lions but didn't arrest anyone......so what's the point?

because outside the 3 lions its not a offence to take them into a football ground it is an offence and comes with a 3 month priosn sentance and a 3 year banning order

The people being filmed on the pitch were not holding/throwing flares.....so unless a large number of fans are shortly due to receive a court summons, what was the point?

the point is someone threw a smoke bomb granade and it hit some one on the pitch in the face,

and people are pointing out this is an offence and the person who threw it could face retrospective punishment,

it isn;t and issue about going on the pitch its an issue of bring smoke bombs etc into the ground which is illegal

Why record images of people on the pitch if no prosecutions are intended?

Take a walk around the City Centre at lunch time and think about how many times you will be caught on camera. It's not because anyone is intending to prosecute you, it is precautionary. Look at almost every plod you pass on match day, they will be wearing a camera of sorts. It's precautionary. Come on, it's not that hard is it?

What will they do with the footage? Keep it for a while then delete I'm sure. First and foremost they will probably review for anyone who has a banning order or is breaching some form of condition one way or another.

I understand that, but overhead CCTV is a little bit more discreet than a Police Officer putting a camera in your face.

Discreet sure, but it serves the exact same purposes and getting some covert cctv on the pitch is probably disproportionate.

Do we know the smoke bomb actually hit anyone?
