Old fella...I think you need to understand the complex way football clubs are run these days...with respect...it's far removed from how you think it could work and what you imply.

Good post, I also wonder how well a "manager" completes each task with so much to focus on.

If you're in charge of everything then you have to do it all, negotiations, coaching, team prep etc.

Perhaps that's where SC fell down a bit, wanting to do it all and therefore negating what he saw as duties of lesser importance, such as watching the youth teams.

The days of manager / chairman are going and now it is a team of people working together to achieve the same aim.

Having a head coach doesn't mean he doesn't get a say or big input on transfers, Mark Ashton made it clear that they would.

Spot on fella....it was why SoD partly failed here...tried to do many tasks he didn't trust others to do.

SC wasn't interested in the Academy at all.

The majority of football Clubs around the world have a team working on the football side of things.

Coach/manager by name, work with DoF's, Coach's, analysts, recruitment specialists, accountants, agents, head scouts etc....they work together to make the clubs teams work as one in a seamless fashion.

It's dinosaur football if people think managers speak to chairman direct on what players they want...it's not the 70's anymore is it....

From what the Club have been putting out recently, which is a lot by comparison, about how the club wish to operate, is both refreshing and a step forward.

I find it also speaks volumes, that very little has been put out in the media whilst SC was here, about what was happening, but since Mr Ashton and JP have been running the show, the 'Club' seem very keen on letting it's fan base know what's happening.
