Try picking the team now... not easy

Harsh on both I think.  Williams is scarcely older than Reid or Burns.  He's far from perfect but he's young and I think he'll learn.  We could use a defensive midfielder for sure but Pack's still got a role to play in the squad.  And, as others have said, we've not actually signed anyone to replace him.

That's what I thought.  Haters gonna hate.

.             O'donnell

Little Pearce Baker Golbourne

  .      Smith   Pack

Burns      kodjia    gladwin

                Tomlin

Purely because I feel Tomlin may be able to link play with the midfield better as it's not kodjias strengths.

  Jeez...

Not the 'Pack is crap' thing again?

So and in summary:

Pack is crap

Freeman can't play any more.

Flint's lost it.

Baker- 'did he get sent off on purpose'?

Joe Bryan no confidence - maybe a loan

Williams not good enough at this level

Agard too rubbish apart from when not selected

Wilbs blowing by the time he comes out the tunnel

Little never rated

Wes Burns dividing opinion

Reid too tiny

& Kodjia not scored in 8 so probably should have been detained in Calais

It appears we need to build a new team around Korey Smith and the injured Ayling and then we've got a chance.

Just saying like

Not that  MRR is it? Most players have struggled. We've won 5 games, let in shedloads and we're third bottom. We're only a couple of places above L1...

Tough to call, because we don't know how fit the newbies are.

Assuming they are both ready and raring to go:

O'Donnell;

Little, Flint, Baker, Golbourne; [assuming Baker no red mist - otherwise Pearce]

Smith, Pack;

Gladwin, Tomlin, Freeman;

Kodjia

Very tough on Burns, although I could see Gladwin playing left instead of Freeman, and that would allow Wes in.  We really can let players go at full tilt for 70 minutes with the likes of Burns / Freeman, Bryan, Agard, Wilbs on the bench to cone on and have an impact.

Before this week's signings I was tempted to suggest leaving Pack out, but I think Tomlin especially means we need a bit more cover.

Decisions, decisions!

As earlier poster said, Little can be a beast.  Hope he comes good.

Haha! Entirely accurate. I think the thing is for me that although we are where we are, the players have been giving it a really good go in a system that wasn't working. Individually I don't think they've warranted the extreme ( and sometimes personal) criticism they've got on here.

Most were our hero's last season and deserve a chance even if only from the bench, under new management and playing a different formation.

Who's going to keep hold of possession in that midfield?

Are you suggesting Smith and Gladwin can't pass the ball? Why wouldn't they keep possession of the ball?

I go by what I've seen and Gladwin was the best ball player on the pitch against us at AG last season and against Sheffield Utd in the playoffs

anyone think tomlin may start on the right side as he and little must have some understanding from their p'boro days. failing that, why cant pearce play right back ?

For me Little is a weak link and needs support, Tomlin wouldn't give him that which is why I'd play Burns on the Right. Tomlin will cause more damage in the middle.

Burns                        Gladwin

                  Kodjia

Like this team, with one change I don't think Flint will play much between now and the end of season

I think the signings mean the formation is likely to be 4231. Two out of, Freeman, Bryan, Gladwin and Burns to be selected for the wide positions.

                 O'Donnell

   Little Flint Baker Golbourne

               Smith Pack

         Burns Tomlin Bryan

                    Kodjia

Subs - Agard, Freeman, Williams, O'Leary, Pearce, Gladwin, Wilbraham

Pembo did make a point of saying that Pearce coming in will give Flinty a chance at a break as he's played every minute so far.

Wouldnt mind Pearce in for Flint. And ideally Ayling back in for Little once he's fit.

I really struggled to get that team together. What an absolute joy to have options! Like a proper team! Season starts here. We'll finish 18th

Hope your right fella, expecting two or three more before window closes. Wouldn't be surprised with a new player in time for Saturday

Gladwin not a midfielder, especially in a two. Same with Tomlin.

                  O'Donnell
Ayling.   Pearce.   Baker.    Golbourne
               Smith.    Pack
    Gladwin.   Tomlin.    Bryan
                     Kodjia

Subs: Fielding, Flint, Little, Reid, Freeman, Wilbraham, Burns

In this case a City Dart
