I think this will be a future 1st team player but he can provide cover to CB , RB and CM to the first team now. This is probably some of the Bolasie money and Matthews injury coming into play. Who would have thought that would ever have been the case?! Will be interesting to see how he fits in as its a lot of money to spend on a backup defender. Sounds like a right sided version of Hordur who is primarily a CB but also a pretty decent LB. It does give us the option to comfortably play a back three again if LJ fancies it. Think with the strength across our midfield now and with Smith back in the squad possibly against Villa, that 3 at the back is deffo in Lee's thoughts. we are much better equipped to make that formation work. Mathews is out for 2-3 months, and he's only on a seasons loan, so I see him as backup.
