LJ 2nd best City manager of all time

Based on win percentages the only City manager with a better win percentage than LJ is Sam Hollis, City's first ever manager. LJ's record is 51.61% against Hollis 51.88%. Here's the figures:

Given that all LJ's games have been in the Championship whereas in the past we may have been in the lower leagues makes the figures even better. To be fair to Alan Dicks his figures (33.6%) would have been better if we hadn't been in the top league for four of his seasons in charge so you could argue he was still the best manager we've ever had, especially when taking into account his 611 games in charge which is far more than anybody else.

So by your logic....Sam Allardyce is the best England manager we've ever had

There are lies, dammed lies and statistics........

Despite the "evidence" the reality is that LJ has been in charge at City for 8 months two of which were the summer break. It's just a little too early to claim such a bold statement.

To me the best managers are the ones who play high tempo attacking football and who are not afraid to lose.

Ignore Stats like that mate, as you never see the whole picture. What situation and health the club are in etc.

For me...the best manager City have ever had, is Terry Cooper.

Stats won't show it, but what he did under the circumstances, was nothing short of a miracle.

Dicksy took us up to Div 1 and kept us there for 4 years and put together the best team we have had in 100 years.  Most of this was with local grown talent too (albeit some originating from Scotland).e.g.

Ray Cashley, Geoff Merrick, Gary Collier, Trevor Tainton, Clive Whitehead, Gerry Gow, Tom Ritchie, All came through the youth setup.  Paul Cheesely is a Bristol lad albeit bought from Norwich, then there were shrewd buys from Scotland like Don Gillies (why the hell do they keep calling him Donnie?) and Gerry Sweeney along with Tony Fitzpatrick.  Those are the names that immediately come to mind.

For me it's too soon to judge LJ but he's certainly got off to a pretty good start and activity in the transfer market has been pretty good too.  Judge him after a full season.

Agree, from where we were and what we were up against when he took charge a 42% win ratio for Cooper is superb.

Because he was always known as ' Donnie ' .

No way was Tony Fitzpatrick a ' shrewd buy ' , we paid 250,000 for him when 250,000 was a big fee .

He was one of our all time biggest let downs at the club .

Win percentages are a ridiculous way to judge a best manager.

But at the other extreme, looking at that list is a wonderful and accurate reminder of what a complete and utter fraud Steve Copout was.

Too early to judge LJ but hopeful he will achieve promotion to the top flight like Dicks. I'd forgotten how young Dicks was when he joined us - even younger than LJ. Took him nearly 9 years to get there; hopefully LJ will do it more quickly!

And lets not forget Daddy Johnson who got us to the Play Off Final

It's definitely too early to judge LJ. Anyone can look good with the likes of Tammy Abraham in the side. Judge LJ when TA goes back to Chelsea.

What about judging him one the half a season where we didn't have him and he also did well..?
