Some of the comments here are a bit harsh. For one thing, "It's Ashton Gate, it's Championship football" or similar has definitely been heard before.

Yes, once a match as the team's walked out. Not every time the mic gets used.

Can't say I've noticed that. Maybe I should socialise less during half time.

I multitask. Engage in one conversation whilst listening to another two or three around me. Usually manage to eat and drink at the same time too.

Sounds messy!

I don't usually pay too much attention to the announcements to be honest but one thing I did notice last night was that the half time draw numbers were read out very deliberately, which may have been in response to one of the criticisms on here. That said, I was in the Grandstand but usually sit in the South Stand so maybe the speakers are just louder in the former.

Some really harsh comments i reckon.

All he needs to do is stop saying this is ashton gate stadium.

Why cant he just say welcome city fans for todays match.

It sounds like a radio trait. You need to remind listeners what station they're listening to. Gotta make sure they correctly fill in their RAJAR diaries.

Downsey can be a little over the top (Come on you Reds!) but I think he's doing a great job, particularly when he handled the spontaneous applause for Gerry Gow.

What? All he had to do was stfu for a few seconds, how is that doing a great job of 'handling' anything?

Hang on a minute. You mean it's possible to constructively criticise him? Like, without acting like he's shot your nan?

Well I never.

That's definitely it, it's just a tick from radio. Problem is that presenting to/for a live audience requires slightly different skills.

Aside from a match day, how is he engaging with fans?

Genuine question. Does he attend the fan/club meetings and stuff?

I think Kodjias Wrist means on match days, which I can see. He just does it the wrong way, I find him very patronising.

I'd have no problem with the content and tone of the rest of his delivery if he didn't repeatedly shout (yes shout) COME ON YOU REDS into the microphone at any given opportunity. It's almost like he's trying to make it his catchphrase.

I was amused to hear three older women moaning about him on the way out saying how he's like something off kids tv

I mean on match day itself.

No idea about your question though but it would make sense if he did. Im sure those on media sites can send him constructive feedback if it gets to them that much.

Just give him time and he will adapt .

I agree, very harsh critics on here - Liverpool players and their opponents are reminded that "This is Anfield" every time they walk down the tunnel, not many complaints up there.....we should be proud of our splendid, shiny, relatively new home...I can't hear 'This is Ashton Gate' enough!

Someone should record his half time "show" and play it back to him. However, he'll probably think he is the bees knees!

Luckily the fella takes on board what people say and does his research, even if he's nowhere near perfect. Shame you couldn't do the same before coming out with that bollocks. Seriously what is the need for this personal crusade.

I think we're all beginning to wonder that, Robin.
