Anyone get a knock on the door this morning?

We made early morning arrests today in connection with trouble at Bristol City’s match at Cardiff City in October last year.

South Wales Police are carrying out an investigation into an assault of a steward at the match and serious disorder which occurred at the match in Cardiff on October 14. A number of troublemakers have already been arrested in connection with the incident.

Anyone causing problems could also face being issued with a football banning order. There are currently 80 in force in Avon and Somerset.

Silver commander for today’s operation Inspector Rob Millican said: “Today’s operation sends out a powerful message to a small minority intent on causing problems at football games that we will not tolerate disorder.

“We are supporting colleagues in South Wales Police who are showing the red card to the small minority who caused problems at the Cardiff game in October.

“We have arrested a number of Bristol City fans and will now put these people before the courts. Successful convictions should result in football banning orders which will mean they will no longer be able to attend games or follow their national side abroad.

“We urge all attending this weekend’s match to enjoy themselves but we will not tolerate poor behaviour."

Whenever i hear about trouble it always seems to be the BCFC fans that are vindicated , so is it Hedlu that causes the problem or our fans. Do the Cardiff fans ever get arrested or are we targeted unfairly by Hedlu?

When we play at home to Cardiff i never seem to see or hear of any trouble or is it just not reported , have any Cardiff fans been arrested at Ashton Gate or in city centre over the last couple of seasons does anyone know?

Welsh police are far from blameless, but no doubt the way they treat City fans during & after the game isn't helped by the way SOME City fans behaved in town before the game!

Would say it's a chicken and egg scenario Both hhave idiots amongst their ranks and both would blame the other for any problems that occur

That just confirms why the ko is at midday. Police don't want trouble makers getting beered up before the game.

All this "road works" as an excuse is complete and transparent nonsense.

Don't want fans to get drunk before the games, but weatherspoons are open from early AM. A lot of these young kids can't drink so they'll be fighting anyone come 11

Another massive waste of police sources, sure, go after whoever assaulted the steward no problem with that but I would love to know the offences for "early morning raids" there have been no raids on the people who attacked my Son in town 6 months ago or the low-life that burgled my house last year, in fact I haven't heard from the police since, get ready for the fake evidence with 6 plod coming out with exactly the same cock & bull story made up over coffee in the police station canteen next morning, Hedlu are on a par with the West Midlands "firm"

But the police are there to enforce the law,not dish punishment as they deem fit,by hitting all and sundry with three foot long batons. This has now happened on several occasions.I can also remember going there for a bubble game, where no fans had been in the town before the game, and nothing of note had happened in the ground,it didn't stop the police coming on to the terrace and start assaulting people, one of which must of been in his late sixties, and I admit I reacted, along with others, by shoving the bullyboys to the front of the terrace ,the HELDU are nothing more than bullies in uniforms.Having said that if any of those arrested instigated the trouble then they have to take the consequences, don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

I'll never go to Cardiff again after the way to Police treated two of my friends and myself - the result was one of the Hedlu breaking my nose! Never caused trouble in my life, and never been involved in any confrontation in my life and was simply attacked by these thugs that wore uniform. They wanted us to retaliate and they wanted a fight. Once they knew they weren't getting one they moved on to find their next targets.

I have no doubt many of these people being arrested this morning weren't innocent, but I bet some were . . . !!!

they are as bad as west midlands,

as much as they are moaned about here Avon and Somerset are one of the better forces when it comes to policing at the gate compared to other areas

We have a few bad apples but like you say, they are on a par with WMP where it seems institutionalised.

Trouble with our region look at the % of major convictions Vs type of charge. It is massively unbalanced to arrests around the rest of the footballing world

I wouldn't want to be a copper on match days; the way many City fans act is downright embarrassing and pathetic. They think they are being the 'big man' sticking it to the establishment, but it's just embarrassing, especially the new Clearasil Crew in the Atyeo decked out in Stone Island and Aquascutum scarves.

That said, I have witnessed the Heddlu lashing out at our fans who genuinely were doing nothing. At Cardiff away when the pub got trashed a few seasons ago, I witnessed a Heddlu on horse back absolutely clatter a man in his late 50s/60s who was literally doing nothing other than walking with his son in the escort. When people intervened to help the old man, who's head was pouring with blood at this point, the dogs ad batons were released. A friend of mine almost got arrested purely for trying to help the man off the floor. As an eye witness, I can confirm he did absolutely nothing, looked like your typical older City fan in a scarf from the shop, not causing any trouble at all. 100% unprovoked police brutality from the Welsh.

Last year was a few weeks before the Euros and the threat of banning orders ahead of  a much anticipated appearance by Wales almost certainly played a part in their behaving at Ashton Gate.

On the way back to the coach at Wolves Boxing Day, this one miserable WMP had a City fan walk past him and said the word "Helmet"......a few fans laughed. The WMP retorted using the following comment ..." The words *swear words removed stop getting round the swear filter* spring to mind.!" As there were some young children with us I told said WMP that the City fan was just jesting, knowing he could not get into trouble for simply saying "helmet". To which he took offence saying "We'll see about that !". My response was "However, the 2 offensive words you used in public most definitely ARE actionable." A quick look at his shoulder number and my quoting out loud of the 4 numbers saw him disintegrate. To say his face dropped is an understatement. I'm not saying I've got perfect vocabulary, and I swear with the best but, he was in uniform being paid by the public purse, and should act appropriately and professionally. I say "should". Here is the problem. Lots of them don't and try to hide behind the badge, uniform and, pardon the pun, helmet..

......Here endeth the lesson.

I was out, did I miss anything? They didn't leave me a 'while you were out' card....

Remember a game at Swansea at the old Vetch Field where a friend and I, being typically loud, were spoken to by the A&S spotters in the crowd. We toned it down from that point. Walking back to train station in large convoy, got right to the station literally one foot inside the train when the Heddlu arrived, grabbed my mate and whisked him away. Being the only thing to do I went with him, ended up at the nick in a right rage, no one on the front desk had a number on. As it goes my mate got a ban (years ago) for year. But he did nothing wrong.

Heddlu by far and away the worst in my experience.
