Who do we all think should be playing in this one? Some difficult choices to make all over the pitch, particularly in the back four if Eros is back (could also make a case ZV getting a game in this one).  Also, has anyone seen them play this season? Current league placing makes it look like they're in for another tough one! But I don't know much about who they added this summer and if there have been signs of improvement.

On a side note, I'm hoping to make it to this one! :chant6ez:Flights are looking relatively cheap for that weekend. I only made it twice last season (cost of flights from the US are a killer!) and was in the down at the front of Atyeo which is where my season ticket was before the move to America. So I will be making my move into one of the new stands for the first time. Any recommendations? It'll be just me this time but hoping to bring my Kids (4 and 6) for the Reading game on Boxing day.

We don't take them or anyone lightly. For me a lot depends how BW feels after his travels. If he's knackered we don't mess about, Eros is back but if he's ok, change nothing and put Eros on the bench.

After the break we need to win this to rekindle the momentum.

Get up in the Lansdown stand if it's open, which I doubt it will be. Weird watching City like Zeus looking down from Olympus.

Definitely a case for ZV to get a game though, if EP isn't 100% and BW has just got back from his jaunts then I'd imagine he'll play.

Think Burton game will be like the Bolton game. They will sat back and will have a low tempo. If we have movement and let the ball run fast it will be good. Everyone expect us to win easy. Burton is not good but we have to go the work to beat them. You make a long trip RE and I really hope for a win. Always believe, COYR!!!

I expect Burton like Millwall and Bolton to park the bus and frustrate City. Don't think it will be the attractive football that City like to play and might take a while for the first goal. Expect a 2-0 home win, Flint to score . Think BW will be on bench

Bailey-Wright is Club Captain and is excellent in the middle of a back four so not sure why you think he will be on the bench?

because of the 1000's of miles he's going to be doing playing for oz

I agree, no need to overwork the guy, I think it will depend on whether we can get Eros some behind closed doors or other game time in the next week or so. Other than that, leave as is. Pack can join the "cup squad" on the following Tuesday

All this barring injuries of course.

Forget the club Captain shit-would you really drop flint or baker???

And who would you rather on the right-Eros or Bailey???

I'd rather see a specialist RB in the RB role.

Club captain or not, Eros should start if he is over his recent injury problems.

I kind of agree, thought we missed a natural RB against Bolton last week but going to a tough place away from home I wouldn't hesitate to play Wright there as we need to be solid.

LJ must play what he thinks is the strongest team. It’s an old cliche, but there are no easy games in the league. Burton have taken a hammering in recent games, but they have shown that they fight and can occasionally dig out a good result

I agree Eros-Flint-Baker-Bryan for the Burton game due to the miles Bailey will have flown but I find it weird how people seem to act as though he is a much weaker centre-back than Flint or Baker. He has been outstanding this season. Even against Norwich at right back, he was one of our best players. This is not meant as a dig at either Flint or Baker. All three have been outstanding this season. I would not want to have to make LJ’s decision...

He probably is so fertile he just gives his kids numbers .

They have them tattooed on their backs for identification purposes.

That's how I see it .

I agree I think it would be hard on Wright although there is something to be said for keeping a settled CB pairing. I doubt either AF or NB would have played as well at RB as BW and its worth remembering he was also the CB who played wrong side when partnered with Flint. Infact I'm pretty sure we would pick Vayner, Smith, Brownhill or Mags at RB before even considering NB or AF.

Yes. I hear his new born - 47 is doing well.

We need to treat Burton with as much respect as we would Villa or Leeds. No letting up, they are capable of a surprise.  If we are 3 or 4 nil up at the break, we can then rest a few weary legs.

Eros is a better RB than Bailey and Flint and Baker look pretty solid in the centre. Give Bailey a rest for this one.

I'm actually happy with almost any pairing from our 4/5 centre backs.

Burton will dig in, play deep.

Pisano at RB imo...you need that extra thrust vs teams like this. Also I would consider Hegeler at CB also to increase speed of ball circulation, to pull Burton out of shape a bit quicker.

I know never change a winning side and Burton at home certainly is not a candidate for this but it could be tough...they will sit deep, dig in and look to break when they can- and quicker ball circulation could take advantage of their rare breaks forward.

Agree with this, think we might see Woodrow start too to help ball retention when we go longer. Should be an interesting game to watch tactically.

Why can't you just say Pis-Flint-Baker- Bryan. And none of this pally stuff with Eros? :P

Eros sounds much better than Piss.

Fairly straightforward selection if Pisaro is fit. Wright on the bench.

Midfield a little more difficult. Smith, Brownhill, Pack CoD

Famara and Reid.

Can anyone remember why the game was moved to Friday night....Gas at home Saturday, did they get priority...and if so, why?

Posted

Yes to do with the Rovers match and I recall police view re their opponents and resourcing. Not sure whether we moved because the police wanted the Rovers match on the Saturday, or just our turn, or through City choice (because of the international break beforehand). Latter unlikely perhaps when you consider Bailey Wright’s travel schedule.

Wish the hadn't It means I land at Heathrow at 3:30 after 12 hrs of flying, get through security, pick hire car drive then pretty much drive straight to The Gate. Could of done with a nights sleep before.

History with Oxford. I lived there a few years (hence the name) and they had a few Herbert's. The estates near the plant had a bit of a rep. More than a match for the Gas whoreds I suspect!

Blackbird Leys. One of the roughest estates it`s ever been my misfortune to spend two months working on. The only good thing about it is that there`s only one road in and it`s relatively easy for the police to shut it off when it all kicks off down there as it does regularly.

Out of interest, any idea why this is so?

I know Swindon collected overspill from London's East End after the war, but what is the reason for such an infamous estate in the otherwise gentile Oxford

It was the estate where all the British Leyland workers at Cowley lived and when the plant closed it went the way of many similar single industry areas - downhill rapidly.

People don`t generally realise that some of these nice towns and cities have some of the worst sink estates outside the main metropolitan areas. Some of the roughest estates I`ve worked on were in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Lincoln and Carlisle.

Matson - shudder! I wonder if they still hit golf balls from the hill above it with the aim of clearing the blocks of flats and hitting cars driving up the spine road.

Coney Hill was a bit of an eye opener too.

But both used to (back in the 1980s, anyway) have very strong, rough, but extremely friendly after the match rugby clubs.

Does the national team pay for his travel ?

Does he travel first class ?

Oh yes, they'll travel business/first.

Think it depends on the national team who pays for what and how much, i.e how rich the country is. Some countries charter their own planes, others can only fly commercial.

Top African players for example who are wanted back fresh, their club team will apparently pay for first class. If City want Bailey back as fresh and fit as possible, we will pay for the best possible no doubt.

Having spent half my life in Bristol and Glos I can confirm that in fact both have rough/dodgy areas; in fact all towns cities do.

I can also confirm that within a very few miles of Glos there is some of the best country-side in the world. It is certainly far easier to drive around Glos than Bristol where it takes for-ever to get anywhere.

The curse is a myth unsupported by evidence. The most you can say is that any team on an exceptional run of results is likely to regress to the mean at some point.

It is. There have been studies to prove you are no more likely to lose after your manager gets the award than if he hadn`t. It`s like the other myth about ten men being harder to beat - that isn`t true either. Fans just love a superstition though.

I just hope Lee Johnson is still wearing the same unwashed underpants from the end of August.

As for Burton, Johno will make sure we put then to the sword. Friday night City will be sitting pretty in an automatic spot.

We are a winning machine. Ashton Gate is a ******* fortress.

4-0

There is a quote from LJ in the linked article that I guess suggests Aus pay.

“Australia do teir best to look after players in his situation and he will be flying first class from Sydney, so should be able to get a good sleep. He will then be driven back to Bristol from Birmingham Airport."

Friday the 13th (I'm not superstitious). Manager of the Month (I'm not, really). Coming back after the international break (just like last season)

Don't fck up City. Please treat Burton Albion with all the repect that they actually deserve. Work your asses off, and hopefully we can claim another win.

Excited about tomorrow, but still edgy until we get going.
