Why?  We should apply the same due diligence for any signing.  You can’t give praise for Tammy and let him off Scot-free fir Kent and Diony.

I'm sure LJ had no idea that Kent would flop - what he saw was a young, skilful lad who Liverpool rated highly and brought him on loan to City based on that. LJ undoubtedly thought Kent would be an asset.

Of course due diligence was done but it wouldn't have indicated that the lad would have the issues he had at City.

Ipswich have spent £5.5m on players over the last SIX years...we spent the same figure on one player for this season...is that broadly similar?!

I didn't say 'transfer spend': I (deliberately) said budget. See the posts above. As someone has pointed out, Villa's transfer spend on John Terry was £0, but I bet it had a bigger impact on their budget.....

And he had no idea Tammy would be such a success but still gets the credit for that..?

You to?............

Read #203 on this thread. - that clarifies the recruitment policy for those who don't understand it.

We get the policy it’s the implementation we’re questioning, along with the fact that maybe a plan could be altered if you find yourselves in the automatics at Xmas.

You really are just trying to be contrary now.  We all understand the policy and we mostly agree on it but the signings in Jan were shit, bugger all to do with the policy, 100% with the implementation and lack of flexibility.

Very smug Dave....we spend more on one player this season than Ipswich spend in total on players over the last six years and you still think we have the same budgetary constraints as them...and they didn’t sign John Terry so bringing him up was irrelevant...anyway, bored of this now...there’s a match on....

Really??

Kent goes from what, Barnsleys young player of the year, gets loaned to Germany and sent back after hardly kicking a ball.

That doesn't set off any alarm bells that there might be a fucking "DNA" issue??

Then a club buys a player for 8m Euros who can't score in a year - and offers him to all and sundry after a few months on loan with a 5m selling price - that doesn't set off any alarms??

the 3rd player gets into 2 training ground punch ups and is immediately offered for sale for 1m - and the parent club - who's fans raved about him, are happy to let him go for peanuts. No alarms either??

All 3 players came with more baggage than a touring Carnival, yet our vaunted 'DNA' specialist Mark "Smarmy" Ashton couldn't see it??

Tombola time - lets grab those 3, they'll do, sod having a crack at the prem.

Due Diligence my arse.

Piss-poor recruiting, done with no thought, in a hurry, at minimum expense when we already bought 3 "ones for the future" who could have been tried - Elliason, Engvall and any number of bloody midfielders getting splinters on their arse around the country - Hegeler for instance.

Seriously - who does NOT think that Elliason, Engvall and Hegeler could, and would have done better than those 3?

I can only give one like but you are spot on. Have another 25,000 likes. You may have to wait some time before they filter through.

I’ll reserve judgement on Liam Walsh, but recruitment is very mixed.....understatement!!

To me it’s a weakness in the overall improving model....and this summer is probably gonna be the most crucial if Reid, Flint and / or Bryan go.  I’m not sure I would trust "us" with £25m.

Completely agree. Can you imagine LJ and MA sitting down working out how to spend £25million?

That is a scary thought!
