For years now a lot of Brazilians (They’ve had some great ones of course)  over rated and over hyped ......

..........because they’re Brazilian

I think that the pundits will have to recalibrate their views on world football  now. History counts for nothing anymore.

How often have Brazil been knocked out of the World Cup before England ?

Most recently in 1990.

Although in 2006 they were knocked out a few hours after England (and at the same stage). I watched them lose to France in a bar in Dortmund, having just returned there from seeing us lose on penalties to Portugal in Gelsenkirchen.

Listening to the commentators naming some of the world class players taking part, it struck me.

Only six months ago some of these Internationals were struggling when playing for their club v City.

They were one of the favourites

Really? Ok I stand corrected, I don’t study the betting. I thought quite a few teams would have been ahead of them.

Martinez isn’t a good manager so it will be down to his players

Same players lost 3-1 to Wales in the Euros under a different manager.

Martinez isnt a top class manager, but he is a decent enough one.

Of course he also has what is arguably Belgiums best ever squad, but so did Marc Wilmots.

Think International Football suits him too

A read studier of the game and tactically astute

He wasn’t good enough for bloody Everton and I think the game against the Japanese showed it was a case of his tactics were not working and the players decided to ignore his instructions and do it themselves

There`s actually quite a list of players at this World Cup that played on the hallowed turf of BS3 last season when you think about it - and I bet there`s loads I`ve forgotten

Sterling

Loftus- Cheek

De Bruyne

Lukaku

Rashford

Gundogan

Aguero

David Silva

Fernandinho

Fellaini (?)

Stones

Bernardo Silva

And of course, Hörður

They're unbeaten in 24 games under him (since they lost in his first game).

I'd say he's had some input into that.

Or perhaps Everton expected something that wasnt realistic after a very good first season.

His first year at Everton he got them to 5th.

His second year they got to the last 16 of the Europa League and finished 11th.

Third year he got them to 2 semi finals but was sacked with Everton in 12th right at the end of the season.

Hardly a failure and they havent matched his first season since.

He also took Wigan to win the FA Cup.

Messi- Out

Ronaldo- Out

Suarez- Out

Neymar- Out

It irks me slightly that Neymar even makes it onto that list. I'm really struggling to see what all the hype is about - and I've watched him in many games.

Mind you, Messi was poor in this WC, too - and the other two were only marginally better.

And got Wigan relegated in the same season
