City v Stoke City - Match day 2

Just a thought from Robins TV which was good today, Rene Gilmartin does talk intelligently about the game. You can see why they are shifting him to a coaching role within the club.

Replacing Lisa Knight with Michelle Owen would be good idea especially if this is the only way that we are going to see football in the long term.

"but it's only Stoke....."

Yeah .... but it wasn’t a wet Tuesday night.

Hats off to the ‘three amigo’s’ and to the entire squad.

Delighted for Jon Lansdown who, in the knowledge that he would be faced with enormous criticism, took a very bold and brave decision on the new management team. Very, very early days yet, but it could be the best decision the Club has made in decades.

GOAL Stoke City 0-2 Bristol City

Andreas Weimann

The impressive Andreas Weimann gets a deserved goal.

Danny Batth loses the ball 25 yards out to Antoine Semenyo, who slides it across to the Austrian who slots home low from the penalty spot.

Game over.

Was listening to Radio Stoke. Just before this went in they said "The last thing we want now is Bristol (sic) to score". Radio gold!

Very impressive and professional performance, to limit a tall and physical team like Stoke to zero shots on target and not much else either. Saw out the game very well and when the chances came took them well.

A Stoke fan agrees with you; https://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/296472/stoke-city-bristol?page=21

"MON will learn from this I am sure. But what a shitshow. Lethargic, no midfield, Powell wasted in this system. SHOCKING from Chester and Baath all game. Aimless sideways balls across the back. Fox - what is he?. Either get proper wingbacks in or change the system. Very bad day at the office here".

Well played Bristol City. Well organized team with players fitting the system and pressed all game. Easy to see they worked out our back 3 before the game.

Moore has been outstanding

Brilliant performance all round, a couple of players had quiet games but everyone did their job. The press looks good, I just wonder with how quickly the games come this season how long we can keep it up?

Well with all the midfield options there shouldn’t be any burn out although would still be tempted to get another CB in as cover

Way too early for that! But it's a brilliant start and DH deserves huge credit

Lovely to see us playing proper football

I think we may even have an identity

Brilliant performance against a good stoke team. Don't underestimate them, we just killed them off and didn't allow them to play

Seriously impressive start to the season.

And to think we've still got Kalas, baker, Williams, De Silva, Nagy etc waiting

I would like it more if we could do the same to the likes of Preston and Birmingham who are the top s**thouse teams

From stoke forum:

Easy for Bristol this.  We've been well schooled today. Same old shite from Stoke.

Still to ask a SINGLE question of their keeper!  (that one is form just before our 2nd goal)

of - end of a shit performance: gutless, brainless, no ambition, half-hearted. A mess!

Absolutely pathetic performance.. 2-0 and we are yet to have a shot on goal. Says it all. Bristol C running for the ball, we are still walking about taking a stroll in the park.

Bristol had two or three decent players who ran the game and we hadn't a clue!

Well played Bristol City. Well organized team with players fitting the system and pressed all game. Easy to see they worked out our back 3 before the game.
