If so, that’s bloody top shithousery!! I suppose other clubs have done it but to play 442 with the ball but being able to switch 532 without it which we seemed to do at times is pretty impressive . E.G.Red
Was it correct as per The Cardiff forum that Marlon applauded the away fans today? Quote Link to comment
22A
A mixture of comments on their forum tonight. On page 8 Spooky Tree "Perplexed as to how we lost that. They're crap!" Page 9 Seabird "I thought Brizzle defended well against our 'giants' so that buggered that. Playing alongside Ralls seems to have brought down Pack to the same level, I seem to remember him having a modicum of control. I think McCarthy's love affair with Bacuna is holding us back. With Giles and Colwill in the side I think we would be able to 'create' a little more." Page 10 NYC Blue " Just got back. Good game, very entertaining. Bacuna poor, anonymous 1st half, barely better 2nd half. Giles way off his best and why oh why is our best crosser with his left foot playing on the right? Several times he beat his man and had to cut back inside. Sang had a good game, I can see why people think he could do a job in midfield, the lad's a footballer. Bagan had his best game for us as well in my opinion. Colwill's got something about him, look forward to see how he develops. It's going to be this kind of season I think, we'll win some and lose some. Won't go down and won't go up. If it's that but with the youngsters getting some game time and developing, I personally don't mind, especially if they're enjoyable games of football like today I don't think you would have found it that enjoyable if you watched it on TV. I found it very frustrating. If you look at the match stats, we had 63% possession, 407 v 256 passes with 72% pass accuracy and we did approximately ****-all. Very disappointing". Who cares we won........Yaaaaaah!! You did see it take a horrendous deflection off of Kalas to divert under him, right?! If anything it was a shocker Baker not lifting the clearance and firing it straight into the back of Bentley! Quote Link to comment

Agreed, we did, but their style of play is terrible - Playing for set pieces and had no guile whatsoever. We matched them and bettered them Quote Link to comment

Mainly to put his family’s minds at rest . Must be horrible for them with it dragging on Do tend to agree, there might have been a bit of tooing and froing but not for long. Covid has helped it drag of course, but it must be awful for the family as you rightly say- I like to think that we would have done better than Cardiff and their current stance. Quote Link to comment

I loves me stats and data, but from reading this analysis I get the impression it’s incredibly data driven, and not from watching the events themselves - in fact I’d say this has been written without watching the games, highlights at best. I’ve noticed that Wyscout (my chosen source) has mis-mapped Weimann’s 2nd goal as being outside the box and flaws like that skew the data. Cardiff’s pass network has lots of connections between Flint, Morrison and the wingbacks….and we all know from actually watching the game that we were happy for them to pass amongst themselves in their own half, but pressure the direct ball. Therefore the analyst has completely missed that nuance of the Cardiff style. When they write “Flint dominated defensively” it’s plain to see they didn’t watch the game. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

In fact they were guilty of exactly what we have been often in the recent past, lots of passing between defenders without progressing the ball the to any great extent. As long as you concentrate and keep your shape it's not that difficult to defend Nigel won the tactical battle with Mick and is in fact a more sophisticated coach than his old school image might suggest I think. 2 Quote Link to comment

Good because these sort of things are quite important when so much is data driven these days. When I was working in the casino industry, I got in with a group who were interested in horse racing, to the point of studying the form in the racing post etc. Then we discovered that one of our punters wrote the synopsis you see under a horses name after a race...... e.g. "stayed on well, never closer" and he admitted that in races with more than 6 horses, he often made it up because he couldn't watch them all! From then on we just went by what the average punter does, colours/jockeys you like, apt or funny names. Edited August 29, 2021 by Port Said Red 1 Quote Link to comment
