Poor Old Everton

Those losses are horrendous- yes Covid, yes some of it is down to a new ground, yes good Community Spend.,

However FFP at that level should not be failable. Not with £105m in a 3 year period BEFORE allowable costs.

There is also some poor reporting, they are banging on about 3 years but with FFP Covid amendments it is 3 years...of sorts.

Quote

2017/18

2018/19

2019/20 and 2020/21 combined average

There is no standalone assessment for 3 years to 2019/20.

Pre tax losses..

Quote

2017/18-  -£13,070,000

2018/19-  -£111,845,000

2019/20-  -£139,863,000

2020/21-  -£120,934,000

I mean, words fail me somewhat!

Wow with all those eye watering losses plus parachute payments for failure if they go down it will make even more of a mockery of the whole FFP system! Paradoxically, it might just make the football powers that be take a long look at the abject disparity of wealth and rules that now exists between the top two divisions when it comes to FFP.

Two bits.

One, the actual revenue hit etc they claimed was as per the accounts not £103m- I got that slightly wrong on early glance.

image.png.20945926e0d644684ad4eeff032691f3.png

What I am unsure is if the £103m is exclusive of the Impairment- so it's £103m-£14.8m=Attempted player addbacks and the like...mix of profit on disposal, amortisation and wage savings of £88.2m OR £103m-£14.8m-£15.3m=£72.9m OR even the same - £7.2m which would be one of £65.5m.

Plus, secondly- Steve Gibson may have started a trend!!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-10676973/If-Everton-avoid-Financial-Fair-Play-penalty-skin-teeth-warn-experts.html

Other clubs are strongly scrutinising their accounts and may sue.

Their claims are an utter pisstake so I hope they don't get away with things.

I haven’t been watching the game but it’s Mike deans last season so he’ll spend most of it milking the lime light.

Lampard’s career as a manager feels like it is more a less over before it has even started.. That’s what you get for taking the wrong jobs at the wrong time in your career.
Should never have gone to Chelsea and should never have gone to Everton.

Lampard isn’t the problem, or the solution. They have had some top managers in recent times. The club is rotten from the top down.

Everton fans hate Benitez but there is no way he would have taken them down

Lampard was a terrible appointment

Maybe it’s just that I hate it when a big name player gets prem jobs while other lesser known coaches have to work up from the bottom.

Oh I agree. I’m no fan of lampard but he is a small part of a very big problem at Everton

Dele Ali working out well then - still sitting on the bench and couldn't get a game v Burnley, total waste of time and money!

Can't play him as they will owe Spurs £10 million once he makes 20 appearances.

Go straight back up again.

Sorry to burst your bubble - they didn’t go straight back up - it took them three seasons to get promoted again ...

RIP Fwank

Not sure why you’ve labelled him ‘Fwank’ - strange. I feel for Frank Lampard, what a fantastic footballer he was (his work ethic during and after training sessions is well documented and is amazing) and what a top bloke he appears to be - listen to his exchange with James O’Brien on the radio way back when he called in on the anniversary of his Mum’s death to take O’Brien to the cleaners when that vile presenter broadcast that Lampard was a bad father - he had O’Brien squirming and backtracking. Frank is obviously a decent guy who is desperate to do well as a manager when he doesn’t need the dosh. He just wants to be still involved and he is trying so hard to get success ... “Fwank”?! ... embarrassing...

And with 100 million odd in parachute payments I certainly would agree with you, surely something has to be done to stop rewarding failure like this.

My word I enjoyed that.

So did I.

I was very tempted to switch to Chelsea, but found this a really enjoyable game.

I don't think he'll last if they lose the next game. Expect big Sam until the end of the season

Can you imagine?

I really don’t think they would, but, à la Keegan, I would love it if they did.

As far as I have been led to believe, it was only men who had twinkles in their eyes back in the 1950s; women didn’t really start to enjoy ‘that sort of thing’ until the 1960s.

Probably just because he's a Romford boy and it's a stereotype about how people from that area talk.. it's really not that deep ?

Is the Championship ready for Everton fans?

I'm sure we all remember the 'we shouldn't be losing to <insert club name>' attitude of Villa and Newcastle supporters.

They'll be unbearable.

Would add numbers to the gate when we play them though, as all the local Liverpool fans will want to watch them and gloat.

Actually hope that they don't come down - can imagine the Liverpool fans comments on social media, it would be like them winning the league again. We'd never hear the last of it!!

Everton are in the FFP shit already and that’s with the prem money. I can see them struggling if they went down.

And I see them going down as well. They don’t seem to have the relegation scrap mentality that Burnley and Watford have.

April 20 - Leicester (h), live on Sky Sports

April 24 - Liverpool (a), live on Sky Sports

May 1 - Chelsea (h), live on Sky Sports

Based on their current form, only seeing Watford and Brentford as possible points, and neither will be easy.

I think it will be very tight but Everton will stay up.

I've always thought of Everton as a bit of a meh club. They just don't bother me.

The only time I want them to win is to shut up the tedious never been out of the South West Liverpool 'fans' and I can't even remember when that last was!

Do people dislike them more because of Lamps?

I've got nothing against Everton other than it'll be a great fixture for us like Newcastle/Villa/West Ham in the recent past.

Lampard has never been that likeable but I mainly want him to fail as I seriously think he is a very poor manager (especially tactically) getting jobs on his name.
