Fifth Round Draw: Home to Man City

Recommended Posts

Who do we want in tomorrow’s draw?

Surely the only answer can be a very winnable tie at home? Then another one, saving our big day out for Wembley…

I think we will pull away and be fine in the league, let’s hope for some cup memories this year.

Totally agree, couple of wins and we’ll be fine in the league so a proper cup run would define this season.  Plus it’s long overdue

At this stage, I'd say anyone at home.

Well selfishly Leicester away would be a very easy game to get to.

But yeh winnable at home is the way to go.

If we could make it an exhibition match for the UK game and play it in San Francisco that would really help me out.

Booked to go away that week completely oblivious to it being the fifth round, let’s be honest when did it matter before?

We’ll be at home to Man U now.

Home draw against the lowest ranked team all day long

That’ll be a banana skin. I’d much prefer a top PL club

Home draw and a chance to reach our first FA Cup Quarter Final in 49 years.

Yes, it's that long since we beat the mighty Leeds United at Elland Road 1-0 in a 5th Round replay.

Liverpool at the Gate. Being the 5th round Klopp will take it seriously and we’ll get to see some of the PL stars.

No thanks. Personally, I can’t think of a worse draw.

Anyone at home (apart from Liverpool and preferably not a Championship team) would be ok.

I'd take that, but my first choice would be Spurs away.

Home draw first priority…but I quite fancy Spurs away too.

Shame the games are midweek and not over a weekend.

Any premiership team at home would do me.

Thankfully we haven’t got a long journey before or after R5 so hopefully that helps our preparation (home the weekend before and then at Cardiff the weekend after).

Doesn`t matter who we want it`ll be the winners of Grimsby v Luton away. It`s always like that.

Fine by me. Two grounds I haven't seen City win at. Kenilworth Road is the only current Championship club left and I've only been to Blundell Park once and we lost 1-0.

I'm also away. So yes, Man Utd - or Liverpool.

Home to:

Sheff Wed/Fleetwood

Luton/Grimsby

Blackburn/Birmingham

Or if we gonna have a bigger draw now, then home to Spurs

Nah, away to Spurs, if you’ve not been the new ground is fantastic, and the beer fills up from the bottom of the glass ?

When was the last time we were in the 5th round?

Same here. Fancy going to Spurs new ground. Failing that another home game will do.

No way. I want a top premier league team, none of this mid table stuff, been there, done em.  ?

I was one of the unfortunate souls who watched the horror show against Lincoln, so I’m hesitant to say Stevenage or Fleetwood… We’d probably find a way to slip up.

What might work well would be home to somebody like Southampton or Leicester, struggling top flight sides, low on confidence that would not relish a trip to Ashton Gate. I hope we don’t draw a big team. It’s about time we finally made a quarter final in my lifetime.

Spurs at home. Years since we played them (1980).

Spurs away was our last ever match in the top flight, May 1980 0-0.

I don’t think anyone at the time would have thought 43 years later and we haven’t played them since. Remarkable.

Our last 5th round appearance was actually against Sheffield United two seasons ago. It might be forgotten by many since nobody attended. It was the behind closed doors Covid season. We’d beaten Portsmouth then Millwall to get to the 5th round but we lost 1-0 at Bramall Lane.

In fact, without doing much checking, I’d say out of all the teams that have been around in that time, Spurs are the team we’ve played least in the last 50 years.

Just the 6 league games v Spurs as they were relegated for one of the seasons we were in the top flight. We did play them in the 2 leg league cup semi final but that was over 50 years ago now.

Neighbours Arsenal are just behind on 8 league games, all in the top flight. We of course did the double over both in our first season in division one.

Long overdue a meeting with both, maybe save it for the semis at Wembley…..or the final.

Maybe we’re saving our next penalty for one of them!

I went to uni in 1985 and lived with a big Spurs fan. We still find it incredible that despite knowing each other for nearly 40 years, we still haven’t played each other.

Oh yes I remember. First and only game we’ve played with VAR?

Also remember Williams having a blinder
