Leveller
Am I the only one who is puzzled by his situation? And the lack of debate about it? What is this mystery bacterial infection, how did he get it, why does it possibly need surgery? Perhaps he has dropped off the radar because we haven’t actually seen him play. This illness seems potentially serious/lengthy yet isn’t really discussed. Or have I missed something?

ExiledAjax
I can only keep thinking of the horrendous injury that Santi Cazorla suffered after leaving Arsenal. I've got no information suggesting that is what McRorie has, but that is an example of an infection being an injury.
Merrick's Marvels
On more than one occasion (Pearson at least once) the injury/infection has been described as "delicate".... And given it seems no-one from the club wants to talk about it in any detail.... The mind boggles. If surgery is being considered, for an infection that antibiotics hasn't cleared up, things must be quite serious and I get the horrible feeling we won't be seeing him for a good while yet. Which would be fine, if Tanner was seizing the chance to make the position his own.... Edited August 22, 2023 by Merrick's Marvels

SBB
When bacterial infection was mentioned, my first thought was possibly a staph infection or glandular fever. Staph infections sometimes need the wound drained so technically surgery but I’ve never heard of glandular fever needing surgery. Hopefully it’s a case of weeks not months. I had a bacterial infection from one of my wisdom teeth spread to my jawbone. I wasn't aware of anything until it started hurting by which time the infection had already spread. Fortunately, the bone damage was minimal and it was dealt with by ultra-strong antibiotics. I was told max-fax (orthodontical) surgery is sometimes required in cases like mine.

Neither are good, as you would normally hope that antibiotics alone should treat most bacterial infections.

Yes agreed, I've got a bit of medical knowledge (former FIBMS) but bacterial infections are not good in general and requiring surgery, even less so. So potentially a bit worrying but hopefully surgery is/has been successful and being young and hyperfit is always on your side.
