Palmer has been excellent. Amazing what actually playing in a side that suits you can do.

Nice of him to have his annual decent performance today then! ;)

FWIW, I always felt we made too many excuses for Palmer re 'setting up the side around him'. IMO, he never took enough responsibility for improving his own performances and making it work for himself within the team. By contrast, I think Wells showed how a player can still contribute even in a system that's fair from ideal for them.

Leicester look so open to the counter. Large gaps in their back line. Will take a while for them to get last season’s ‘cobwebs’ out of their system IMO, so probs good to play them early doors before they click. Really impressed by Coventry already though, pretty sure they’ll be up there this campaign. Can just see it now, Jay DaSilva in the Championship team of the year for 2023/24 ?

He looks like the player we briefly saw here when he had the movement of Adobe ahead of him. Coventry’s front men are making some good runs and KP’s passing has been for the most part spot-on. He’s a dangerous and creative player in this form, and with Hamer in there as well Coventry pose a real threat. I think they are likely to replicate their performance of last season, even without Gyokeres.

Palmer is a very good player, showed it sometimes with us. Why he didnt make it here I dont know. Him and Afobe was class, also Eliasson and Palmer connected well.

Correction: Palmer is a good player in terms of technical ability, however he lacks many other key elements required to be a good player at this level (focus, fitness, discipline, ability to carry out instructions).

Robins seems pretty happy with him.

To be fair to City, it's not like we're a special case where Palmer's career to this point is concerned.

Fair comment. I don’t disagree for a moment that he underperformed here, for whatever reason, and didn’t justify his high earnings. Nor do I have any criticism of the decision to let him go, which was fully justified. It will be galling, though, if he plays like this all season and Coventry finish top six again.
