So true Graham. I’ve said a few times on here, that play off final is the slidiest of sliding doors moments in our history.

Forget Luton, Coventry and anyone else he’s mentioned, it’s Brighton who we should really try to emulate; but couldn’t be further from it.

Steve in fact cited Brighton as the template but seems to have learned nothing from Tony Bloom.

It's his club and he'll do what he wants even if it is demonstrably wrong. Great benefactor yes; great owner no.

He copied up to a point, the infrastructure.

Beyond that...who knows if we still had Gould and NP and his team in situ and that isn't a slight on Manning but the shambles as a whole.

Look where Brighton were and where they are now. I could name a few more. All while we have been festering under SL stewardship.

Take note Steve. That’s how to run a football club.

100%.

Tinnion wouldn’t have had a clue who De Zerbi was, Brighton are so far ahead of us in every respect it is ridiculous.

Nether would 99.9% of our fans

and if DeZerbi had come to us instead of B&HA when he was an unknown

those fans would have been slagging the club off for not getting a "name"

De Zerbi from Sassuolo and Shakhtar comes to..midtable Bristol City in the Championship.

No chance. None whatsoever.

That’s not really my point.

We are run by people with a very narrow view.

Brentford were at our level when they appointed Thomas Frank, not a chance in a million we would go down that road. Likewise Huddersfield with David Wagner.

It really doesn’t matter if you’re a “name” or not, results determine whether people take to you.

Our most successful manager since Alan Dicks definitely was not a “name”.

Unknown? He won the league and managed in the Champions league?

Yep. I've posted about how Brighton strive to always have the best people before.

Where as at Bristol City/Sport its full of Jon's mates.

A professional CEO would be nice.

Hilarious how they have absolutely wiped the floor with Chelsea.

£23M combo for Potter too..

Tony Bloom is a gambler, I would just like to point out that if Brighton didn't get promoted the season they did, it would have got very different financially, but he rolled the dice and with a good team in place won..

I’ll say it again….wants the outcome without understanding how / why.  That’s why he’s not stuck to one team.  Magpie strategy.

It’s like chalk and cheese.  They’ve gone from struggling with ground sharing, then that awful Withdean Stadium and look where they are now.

In contrast, what have we done over the same period?  Other than stadium and training ground improvements and a bit more focus on the academy, we’ve done next to bugger all, except piss away £millions, lose ownership of our ground and massively increase our debts.

I think it was Bloom who spoke up for us at one of the planning meetings for Ashton Vale at the Council House and I was massively impressed with him then.  He had a clear plan and has stayed focussed and carried it through.

For me, he’s a brilliant example of what a great owner looks like and what we totally lack.
