  1. This week could be pivotal for P'boro'; Reading at home on Wednesday then travel to Derby on Saturday.
  2. Listening to the commentary "Bristol City haven't been in the game and they just rely on Swansea making a mistake". http://sportsnest.co/a-swansea-city-vs-bristol-city/

    Swansea away

Sorry Mods; please move this to the match day thread, thanks.

    Swansea away

They are impressed we are taking more to Swansea than Cardiff did. They also say it's a game they should and will win. They also don't think too much of today's Ref. https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/forum/282261/swansea-city-v-bristol-city-matchday-thread-matchday-!/#43 This is the exact type of game we have to win if we want to make any progress in the league. 2 games in hand over this mob. This game is made for Pato and hopefully Piroe if he starts. They are 16th in the league and one of the few teams we have earned more points per game than, fairly local rivalry, a few players playing against their old club, at home in front of a crowd desperate for a win. 2-0 Pato and Piroe. Referee is Keith Stroud again?. Oh dear.
  6. Swans parking; this pair have nailed it.
  7. https://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=189124&sid=0fdfe711481a04b7d35c551bac42b358&start=100 They can't get the red button to work either. Also sat their keeper is poor, but the game's heading for 0-0.
  8. Their fans are concerned about their team for tonight; https://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=189124&start=60 'Brave' choice by Paunovic dropping Swift and Southwood. But at least he's binned off Drinkwater. Good luck to Hein, there'll be a feeding frenzy if he makes a mistake. Will TDB be central and Ince and Hoilett wide, or will TDB be deep, Ince behind the striker and Rino RW?
  9. I've know we've only seen him for one game, but that Boreham goalie looked confident and capable. Not conceded a goal in the six cup games Boreham have played this season. Worth a look at by City? Downside of today's result, that ends the South West's cup interest. Bournemouth, the Devon three, Yeovil City, Rover, Cheltenham and FGR all out. Six months time our local non leaguers start next season's cup run.
  10. OK, I wasn't at the game and only saw the highlights on Quest. Recently one or two players have been criticised on this forum, but watching TV, it appears the entire defence just did not perform. Looking back though, it's two months since we last conceded less than two goals in a League game. Are our players 1; definitely "out of their league", or 2; is their coaching and tactics not good enough?
  11. For Gogglebox viewers; As it's Blackpool, will "Pete and his sister Sophie" be attending ?
  12. Their views of this game; https://avftt.co.uk/index.php?threads/blackpool-v-bristol-city-official-matchday-thread-05-02-21.28735/ Rain and 40 plus mile an hour winds forecast, should be interesting. Andreas Weimann is their most dangerous player. Creates and scores goals.Need to keep him quiet. Tough game this 2-2 We’ll need volunteers to guard our statues.
  13. None of us are old enough to have witnessed it, but City's first ever game in the League was a 2-0 win away to Blackpool. That must have been impressive. I'll be happy with an identical result this Saturday.
  14. In Peter Godsiff's history of City he states that Billy Wedlock and Len Southway were retained by City during WW1 to keep the club going. To maintain interest they arranged matched against teams from factories, the docks and service sides. The pair were only paid if City played Rovers. As a result, City played Rovers 38 times in the four war time seasons! With players serving in the forces, both clubs fielded whoever was available. Supporters remained loyal though and after a win at Eastville, Southway & Wedlock had to fight their way through an angry crowd steering a pony & trap through the mob.

  16. 72nd minute in today's Egypt v Morocco game; identical challenge, but outside the box and the attacking team was awarded a free kick.

    Injury Time...

Those were the first two games of the season and I reckon that affected our players. They developed a feeling they could not win. Next week is the chance for revenge at Blackpool (not far from Preston either).
  18. At the risk of being branded a heretic, 78-79 City had finished mid table in Div 1, Then those players who had performed so well tailed off leading to those successive relegations. Those players had been given long contracts to prevent them being snapped up by larger clubs. It's also been said that at the end of 76-77, the Board should have thanked Alan Dicks for getting us up and staying there that first year, but should then have paid him off and sought a more experienced manager to progress with.
  19. I remember City's equaliser being shown on the national news; and commentators asked "Will this be Bristol City's last goal?" It was also reported that hordes of programme collectors turned up just to buy that programme.
  20. Not according to the fans on their forum: https://www.pne-online.net/forum/index.php?threads/match-day-pne-v-bristol-city-29-01-22-ko-15-00-championship.3435359/ Should be an easy win given they have only scored 13 goals this season, BUT this is PNE . Home win 2-0, fingers crossed. I'm taking my 5 year old grandson for his first visit to Deepdale this afternoon. Very much hoping for an entertaining win and a good positive atmosphere to maximise the chances of him wanting a second visit soon! I am looking forward to today more than I have for quite some time.
  21. I read in today's paper the EFL have decided to give Derby another month to see if they can raise enough money to complete the season. On one hand the EFL are trying to preserve the solidarity of the League. On the other hand, one more month is one month nearer the end of the season, so not as much cash needs finding.
  22. I visited Ipswich today and was told there's grumbling that the Summer's signings haven't been too successful and most will be moved on next Summer.
