    FA Cup 2021-22

Exeter have come from behind to win 2-1 and travel to Cambridge on Saturday. All the best to Plymouth, Exeter, Yeovil, Rovers and Cheltenham and I hope they all join City in January's third round..

    50 Transfers

Nothing new. Paul Cheesley from Gordano had been spotted by Norwich and we had to sign him from them.

    FA Cup 2021-22

After eleven minutes Bradford have taken the lead.
  4. This week I replaced Sky with BT as it's cheaper. I can still view the Sky Sports channels, but on Sky Football, I have to watch Livingstone as the red button doesn't work. Anyone else have this problem?
  5. Now today ahead of Sheff U v City; "If Sheffield win they'll climb to 13th in the table". The two teams are on equal points at the start of the game, so why not say "If either team wins, they'll climb to 13th". He's also mentioned several times that Sheff had a 1-0 win in mid week.
  6. That Final; May 25th. 1988, a packed Ashton Gate saw Walsall win 3-1, but three days later, City won the return two nil! In the dying moments a shot for a winning third goal passed inches wide of the Walsall post. A penalty shoot out was now held to determine the venue for a third deciding game. Once again City proved inept with spot kicks and had to return to Walsall on May 30th. In a one sided encounter, Walsall, in their centenary season won 4-0 and with it promotion to division two. The following season Walsall were relegated straight back down whereas Sheff U did the double over City and went straight back up.
  7. Some of their fans think the same; https://www.s24su.com/forum/threads/sheffield-united-v-bristol-city-28th-november-2021.88904/
  8. Except for the South coast beaches favoured by illegal migrants to avoid offending anyone.
  9. II was amazed by the difference in the two lunch time games. In the Prem Arsenal played a sterile game v Newcastle and strolled to a win. Meanwhile, in the Champs, Fulham went to Preston and fought out a keenly contested draw with robust tackles & challenges and both sides making chances at goal etc. It was far more entertaining.
  10. Ralf Rang nick; Dis he? Joking aside, several tp coaches and managers were telling Sky Ralf is highly respected and according to Klopp; "United will now be a very difficult team to paly against."
  11. Spain and Gibraltar are kept apart as well. For political reasons Israel is a member of UEFA so doesn't play any of it's neighbours. Contrastingly though, in a previous tournament a qualifying group consisted of North Korea, South Korea, Iran, Iraq and Saudi! Players shook hands and greeted other as brothers at the end of each game.
  12. Ticket Inspectors. However there is public right of way through the station to use a bridge. Cue problems. https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/transport/ticket-inspectors-stop-people-crossing-bridge-sheffield-railway-station-fresh-row-breaks-out-3023134
  13. If released, he could spend the weekend up there and watch City!
  14. Taken from the Blades' forum Nothing against Hecky, but utterly uninspiring and unprofessional from the club.
  15. On their forum, the thread is now 27 pages long. https://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/302392/bristol-city-stoke?page=27 Was a painful one to take that was, thank god my short trip back to Devon wasn’t as bad. Fair play to the ones going back. Shame one or two felt the need to damage some seats, kind of like the way people react on here after a loss I suppose….So many wrong choices and rather unlucky, they seemed to waste time from the moment they scored. Shocking to think we used to play like that and enjoy it… dreadful to watch. No one on this forum has commented on damaged seats; many or just a few? The second highlighted comment sums up what several on here have posted ?
  16. They ain't happy with their Manager's tactic or substitutions etc. https://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/302392/bristol-city-stoke?page=25
  17. Brilliant; a disciplined team effort. My MOTM; Dan Bentley. In recent weeks I feared he was past his best and had appeared slow in getting down to balls. Tonight he was on top of his game and coped with evrything.
  18. Thank you City. You weathered a heavy storm for most of the first half, but then took the lead thorough a well worked goal and the half ended with Stoke players now making mistakes.
  19. OK, half hour gone and what have I noticed? Stoke players pass to team mates. Stoke players string several passes together in flowing moves. City players moving forward with the ball try taking it through an opponent or two instead of dribbling round them or passing to a team mate. Good news, it's still 0-0 and we occasionally look threatening.
  20. Their fans have posted some negative views ahead of tonight's game; players are out, the formation is wrong, regulation defeat etc. https://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/302392/bristol-city-stoke
  21. Being the eternal optimist; City are currently on twenty points with a home game tomorrow. Sheff U (20), PNE 21 and Brum 22 are the three teams direct;y above City. All three are away tonight. A mid week full of home wins therefore will be most advantageous.
  22. There are eight teams based in Shanghai; For our Portishead members, Shanghai Port play in red shirts! Looking around, I found wages for Shanghai Shenhua posted on the web; https://salarysport.com/football/chinese-super-league/shanghai-shenhua/
  23. Gerry Gow for me too. I also remember Geoff Merrick becoming the youngest Captain in the country when he was just 21.
  24. On their forum; "Nothing result and drab performance against a lowly team. Not good enough but Tony will be happy. "
  25. https://www.brfcs.com/forums/topic/35151-v-bristol-city-a-201121-local-info-for-those-heading-to-the-gate-from-a-bristol-city-follower/ They complain at £33 tickets and also that there's no POTD. The last time I went to this fixture it was by train to Parson Street, I recomend doing that, there are a couple of decent pubs between the station and the ground. One was a ardent BCFC pub with loads of memorabillia on the walls. The old adage, keep your gob shut and you won't get any trouble, came into play. An easy, 10 minute downhill walk to catch the train back, after the game. Bristol....a footballing wilderness, nothing to see here. 2-1 Home advantage says the head, 1-3 delirium says the heart! Bristol City aren't the side they were a couple of seasons ago and have struggled so far this season. They've lost key players in Nagy, Pack, Eliasson and Diedhiou and haven't replaced them properly by the looks of it. They are there for the taking today.
