Cardiff City away - match day thread
22A replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
Be fair though; if City were losing, you'ld want the Cardiff keeper to have made at least two fine saves for them to stay ahead. -
Who, only a few years ago won at the Mem in the FA cup when Barrow were non league. They even came from behind to do it. 1-0 down 2-1 up there's a song for vistiors!

Alan D was manager for thirteen years. We then had seven in the next 14 years. I've read about Fred Ford in peter Godsiff's history of City. After dismissing Fred, Harry Dolan wanted Frank O'Farrell, then Torquay's manager, to take over. Frank turned us down as he was a friend of Fred Ford. Not long afterwards, Man U appointed Frank as their manager. When City won promotion in 1965, the players came out to celebrate after the game, but Fred didn't come out. His reasoning being that it was the players, not him who had won the promotion.

A few years ago when the Orton Centre was redeveloped. Gone are; the pub, the off licence, the bookies and the video shop. There is an estate agent there now, so presumably that means we're more affluent?

There was a gashead who worked in a pub. I made a point of going in there wearing my City top. Sadly the Horse & Groom is now demolished and I've no idea of what became him. Meanwhile there's about a dozen City fans with either a PE (Pboro) or CB (Cambridge) post code.

Lower left on page 30 of today's !Metro". Joey Barton believes he needs more time to turn around Rovers fortunes. It was grim before I came in, It was terrible before I got here and I don't think it's improved. it needs a great reset.

Not too good I'm afraid in the Extra preliminary Round today. Odd Down lost 3-0 away, Ashton & Backwell lost 2-0 as did Bitton, Clevedon lost 6-1 at Bishop's Cleeve, Brislington had a 3-3 home draw, Bridgewater won 2-1 at Brixham, Cadbury Heath 0 - Flackwell Heath 2, Roman Glass St George had a 2-1 home win, Shepton Mallet a home 0-0, Keynsham had a 3-0 away defeat and Thornbury a 4-0 home defeat. Next round is in two week's time. BMF enter at that stage away to Exmouth and Frome are home to Paulton. As they won today, Bridgewater are home to Ilfracombe.

Some of our locals ended up in a different part of the Extra Prelim draw. And in the Preliminary Round

https://www.thefa.com/news/2021/jul/09/20210709-emirates-fa-cup-extra-preliminary-and-preliminary-round-draws-made Those progressing from the EPR picking up £1125 and those in the PR collecting £1444. Losing clubs will get £375 and £481 respectively in each round. I've pulled out our localish clubs. Saturday 7th August Extra preliminary Round. Saturday 21st August Preliminary Round

So we could end up with Swindon; Manager and no players and Rovers players, but no Manager. A merger of mediocrity on the cards?
-
Nothing changes then.

-
Because it's a "new and exciting" piece of trash!
-
Will that lead to a points deduction if it reoccurs?
-
I know we refer to them as ragass Rovers, but these grounds they are no longer elevated enough to play at, show just how bad they let themselves go.

Signing a player from Hartlepool might be inspired. Brian Drysdale had ben playing for Hartlepool and was considering giving up the game as his career was going nowhere. Then out of the blue, City made a bid for him which he and Hartlepool jumped at. BD went on to be a regular fixture at left back and helped us into Div 1.

No, it's always sad when any sports team disappears. I'll settle for them to simply drop further down football's pyramid.
