Admin phantom Posted July 27, 2017 Admin Report Share Posted July 27, 2017 Great win last night, just like the Eng - SA game the light was shocking toward the end - and to think we started at 5pm too Brilliant first 5/6 overs batting - Gregory was putting the ball all over the place which is great to see - Hants looked a very average team - now to back it up in Canterbury tonight on sky Made a balls up with the Glos game next week, see it's now sold out - surprised the temporary seating wasn't left there with these T20 games and England playing there in a a few weeks

Lrrr
Feel bad for Denly, did well to field that whereas it would have been better to concede the boundary. Also disagree with the commentators, Billings was right to have a go given it looks like he'd have been short of his ground, its mid on/mid off's fault for not backing up his attempt. Lrrr
How wasn't that a wide? Just because Hildreth lined up to play a reverse sweep doesn't mean its not a wide, he didn't change to left handed or anything... We know our bowlers are capable of doing it but will they?

ralphindevon
Allenby has a set match plan and can never waver from it. Time and time again during a match there's an opportunity to change something due to conditions or a player having a bad night with the ball but he's so inflexible. Northern Red
I'd have to find the link, but I read an article on Hose's departure that suggested that the finances are not as healthy as they should be.

Super
Strange Statement CLUB STATEMENT There has been much speculation in regard to player movements and the Club’s cricketing objectives in the media of recent. Firstly, Somerset County Cricket Club will not comment on player contract discussions; that is a confidential matter between the individual and the Club. For absolute clarity, no formal or definitive decisions have been taken with the regard to the future composition of the playing squad for 2018; that is premature with a major part of the current season still in progress and a great deal to play for. Secondly, the Club’s cricketing priorities are very clear – to play high quality competitive cricket in ALL formats and to assemble a squad to achieve that consistently each season. The Club is committed to its policy of retaining and developing home grown talent, whilst supplementing the core of our squad with players of world-class calibre from the domestic and international market. Everyone at the Club is completely focused on cricketing performance in the crucial latter stages of the season.
Robbored
Maybe it's just the Somerset media that are speculating............ Ive certainly not seen anything on local tv or in the Post. Edited August 1, 2017 by Robbored
