    I agree and disagree.

    Hear me out.

I was not a Pearson fan, never warmed to him. Respected the job he done, but never felt like we would achieve anything. I kind of feel he done the job he was tasked to do, but I was not sorry to see him go. I don't think we would have ever progressed with Nige at the helm. That said, I don't think we would be playing like a team in free fall. Pearson was the right man at the right time, but in my eyes, he would have never been the man to get us promoted.

Now, I was and am willing to give Liam Manning a clean slate, it was a big task, and wanted to give him time to get the players to adapt to his football and make changes he saw fit, however, what I've seen in the last 3 games, the bloke is sleep walking us to relegation. He may have his own ideas and may want us to play a certain way, but it doesn't suit this group of players, so his changes need to be filtered in over time, if he continues to ignore what is blatantly obvious and continues to make players play a way that they physically can't and look more lost than bo peeps sheep, then he is either way too arrogant or tactically clueless. Whichever it is, Manning Ball has to go on the back burner. That's not to say long term it may not suit us better with his own squad, but with this squad we'll be in league one quicker than Brian Tinnion leaves Twitter again.....

Manning may come good, but what he is doing is absolutely soul destroying and unless he wakes up fast and see's that, then he has to go.

It's very quickly showing that Manning was not the answer, but neither was keeping Pearson long term in my eyes.

It's very well known, I liked Lee Johnson and gave him more time and patience than most, and I try to be fair to every manager and give them time, but for me, I just don't see Manning adapting and I have no faith in his football with this group of players.

I don't know enough as to what BT does, and the role he has at this club, but this was his decision. Not so much the departure of Pearson, which I can understand, albeit for me, I would have allowed Nige to see out his contract and thanked him for his time and leadership, but stated that we wanted to bring in someone younger with fresher ideas. Nige was pushing for a new contract he was never going to get. I think the club got it wrong. They should have said, that they thanked Nige for the job he done, but they wanted to change things at the end of the season and even asked Nige to help with the process of finding a new manager, even maybe offering Nige a role upstairs, those are things I feel we could have and probably should have done. But for me, Nige would not have ever taken us up, he suited the job he was tasked to do, not the task for the next man.

However, Liam Manning is not looking like he's the man for anything.

I personally feel we have to act now, for the sake of the club. Tinnion and Manning have to go. SL and JL have taken their eye off the ball, and allowed someone completely unqualified and out of his depth to run the footballing side of the club and they have failed abysmally. Manning was Tinnion's appointment, and the buck stops with him. If Manning is not the answer, then Tinnion has to go as well. If Tinnion is not the answer, then Manning as his man has to go.

That said, bringing Nige back is not the answer also.

There's 12 games left, we can go back to basics and pick up enough points to stay up (we shouldn't even be looking at that scenario!) and evaluate at the end of the season and look to bring in the right man.

Myself, for the sake of 12 games, I would give Andy King the player manager role, but he should not be a consideration for the permanent managers post. It's just about getting to the summer in the Champioonship.

But if Lansdown doesn't step in and end this nightmare that is rapidly imploding on us, then he has completely lost me. I've no qualms about JL being our chairman, he is only doing as his Dad has asked him to do. But if SL has any respect for the fans, desire for this club to be successful and wants to keep his legacy of this club with any degree of purpose, then Monday morning Tinnion and Manning have to be relived of their duties and this route must NEVER be explored again.

Bring in a proper CEO, a proper Director of Football, and employ someone who has been successful at this level. If he is unwilling to do this, then in my opinion, he is WORSE than the problem that has been created.

i like that, a very detailed and well thought out post of which i think you are largely correct, the only thing i feel different about is whether Nige would have delivered the promised land. i believe he would have done with his team of staff but that is just a simple difference of opinion between 2 people and im man enough to accept yours and RESPECT it 👍

Nope, If I was Jon Lansdown, I'd stop acting chicken, swallow my pride and get back the previous coaching regime.

Quick question, are we still paying them off?

it wont happen but even if it did, id find a way of ringing the previous regime and telling them not to even consider them. we dont deserve them with the shit they have had and would get more of from those up above

If I had to work for Mannimg I would be putting every effort into getting out.

He is so ……..boring, with zero personality, before we even get to his lack of football nous and man management.

Just imagine for a moment how boring and increasingly pointless his ‘work on the grass’ must be to seasoned pros.

At least James and,King are being given a master class in how NOT to manage

when the transfer window was open and playing prem teams and promotion hopefuls southampton, players might have had eyes on them. whos going to bother scouting a match with bristol city and cardiff playing,it was a nailed on borefest before kick off.  if no ones there watching ,would you put any effort into getting noticed? would be a bit pointless i feel.

Erm. Is it just me or are things - unusually for OTIB - getting a little hysterical on here?

Had an excellent game against Soton and decent performances against Premier League opposition in the Cup. So we can’t be that far off. Yes, followed by absolute tripe against two teams fighting for their lives, but some perspective maybe?

It is indeed frustrating that we have to watch Anis and Harry be given second, third, fourth chances and predictably not taking them. The January transfer window yet again doing nothing to improve us, Tommy’s performance curve flattening out and TGH being anonymous but let’s get to the International Break before we start pressing the panic-manic button.

A win today, point at Ipswich and victories against Swansea and West Brom will do nicely.

    Yours Optimistically.

yes,you are quite right. wish i could scrape up your optimism tho👍

Could be some interesting symmetry as to how this all ends- Binman crying in the director’s box (rather than the bench) after a mauling? Wouldn’t bet against it would you.

    My completely wild speculation.

    Sack Nige.

    Confirm shortlist.

    Start sounding out shortlist.

Highest one to nibble, approach them / their club if they’re employed

Sell the club to prospect / I doubt prospect had to work too hard

    Formalities

    Announce

    whats reckon?

another championship manager got the bullet just before NP , ive completely forgotten who it was, but they were doing well and seemed an unjustified sacking.  pure guess on my part but the timing to me made it look like we booted Nige thinking this bloke would walk straight in with open arms but took one look and said no thanks leaving us in limbo so they panicked, looked at league one, oxford were 2nd, 'their manager must be good; so went and grabbed him. pure guess ,could it have been like that?

fwiw, i dont think mannings style of play was anything to do with the process as Tinnion was going to do his bit there if i heard the interview right

I'd be very surprised if we see Twine again this season, even if a scan shows he's healed.

    'Still feeling a twinge boss'...

you are thinking along the same lines as me spud, more cosy sat on the sidelines in your thermal togs than out on the pitch getting soaked, blown to bits and freezing your tits off because the play is so slow

One thing for sure is LANSDOWNS left us in a total mess up front, not being able to score, having enjoyed the benefits of expensive talent like Scott, Semenyo & Weimann - unforgivable as a BOARD, IMO

    corrected for you

  9. did anyone see rooney on the telly tonight? asked if he wanted to get back into management.

his reply was yes but hes going to take a few months off work and enjoy himself.

they arent like us,a week or two off here and there, they can afford to take however long off they want, in Nigels case, i hope he doesnt return to football, he doesnt deserve some of the shit he gets, and certainly not from anyone with anything to do with bcfc from top to bottom,he gave it everything he could

My Nan always bought Izal when we were kids, I used to dread needing a turn out whenever we visited. Could never understand how anyone would ever buy it - it never wiped anything away, just smeared it around a lot.

Unless that was due to my poor technique...😳

perhaps the lansdowns made her shit itch as much as they do mine

I also met NP and had a chat, he seemed to me to be a ‘people person’ first and foremost, and I can imagine he pretty much always told it as he saw it, something I also felt was the case in his interviews.

he is absolutely 100% a people person.  i dont know if it was an act or nerves the way he came across in earlier interviews but i do know,he wouldnt lie to you, and he certainly wouldnt be abrasive as he cares about our feelings as much as his own

So ,and keeping it to the playing style approach and , to me the glaring discrepancy about a Tinnions repeated sound bites , front foot football ,athletic, runners , pace , etc

Surely the simple answer is one of two things Gull ,

A We’ve (Tinnion) has decided to take a completely different playing path philosophy based around possession , control , processes etc and then identified LM as the ideal fit

    or

B BT , for whatever reason only he could explain , hooked onto LM as the next bright thing and with JL was prepared to chuck aspects of the footballing philosophies , and follow and back Manning instead

I guess there’s the third option that they diidnt comprehend or understand what they were appointing in terms of playing philosophy etc , but as I’ve said previously , that’s ridiculously absurd even for them

is C the equivalent of panicking after managing to get shot of Nige saying 'look at oxford, they are doing well, manning must be good, lets grab him'

with no more thought than that other than tinnion saying he could show manning how its done in the championship?

His huge number of appearances, assists for people like Scotty, dozens of valuable players recruited, improved and developed into good assets for the club - and you don’t seem to see any good in the chap. If you blame him for Nige’s sacking, then do you really know what happened behind the scenes - or are you just blaming Tins because he is the only one left?

he must have been involved in conversations leading up to it to be ready to take on the roles he did. nige was blocking his path to any sort of promotion so any input from tinnion on how they would do things would lean towards sacking pearson even if he didnt actually say 'hes got to go' i think he would have been angling towards it.

Given there seems to be a consensus that we are going backwards. What are the possible solutions that the current Board might sanction to make things better?

send tinnion and manning on a scouting mission to the north pole for a few months

    100%.

Art of delegation is also important as you say, fine line between delegation and abdicating responsibility and think NP got it right.

Something the hierarchy should take note of..remember when they disappeared and post Gould and Alexander, NP was basically having to field and answer for all sorts in the Autumn.

I say they should take note and learn, they probably won't.

he did that for the fans because believe it or not, they play an important part in his teams, and he cares about them too.

something else a few people should also take note of
