Atyeo I thought was more like 4.2k, but restricted to 3.4k.

Is this yet another decision by our Unaccountable yet all-knowing, all-seeing overlords the SAG?

If there is a sound reason fair enough but publish it and perhaps publish some names or positions.

Isn’t the Atyeo sold to away fans on an unreserved basis?

We were told in S25/S26 a few years ago, that due to it being unreserved, the club have to leave 10% of those seats unsold.

This is why a few years ago again, we were told this section is no longer unreserved & you should sit/stand in your allocated seat so the club were able to sell that extra 10% (people still go wherever, just unofficially)

For the ex players sub forum to be removed, I just noticed for the first time in weeks that a load of content has been moved there, with next to no engagement since moving..

Commitment bias, also known as the escalation of commitment, describes our tendency to remain committed to our past behaviors, particularly those exhibited publicly, even if they do not have desirable outcomes.

Wow I completely forgot it existed for a bit until reading this post.

I’ve just had a look through and so many threads with little to no engagement. Quite a few in the low hundreds in terms of views.

Its been a really bad move & should change back imo.

It's interesting in that context that the "We always seem to up our game against the better teams" / "We struggle against teams near the bottom" myth is so prevalent here.

Yeah I actually looked into it the other day because I could hardly remember any games where we’ve beaten a side that’s come down the previous year.

Overall it’s not the worst, since promotion in 14/15 we’ve played 51 games against these sides, winning 12, drawing 12 & losing 27.

At home we’ve won 6, drawn 11 and lost 7.

It’s just the last few seasons where we seem to rarely pick up anything against them.

  4. I dread watching City play against sides that have been relegated from the PL the previous season. We’ve won 1 of the last 20 games against them. (W1, D5, L14)

Hoping we can turn that around tomorrow, probably take a draw if offered to me now though.

  5. RIP Martin.

Always enjoyed getting the friend request from his new Facebook he’d have to create every couple of months for winding people up on there!

Sad to hear ‘Tommy’ finally got the better of him.

If it was Isaac Finch, he has been signed by us as of last week I believe. Will be with the u18s.

Oh that’s alright then, shows the club have an eye on what’s going on at that level. I’d heard he was being looked at by Newcastle.

Luke Purnell, Weston born and raised who’s been their number 1 for the majority of the last 10 years, contract ripped up by the very strange man Bartlett.

Signing for Bridgwater, three divisions below, on likely similar wages - which shows how much money (I’m sure legit money too…) Bridgy are throwing around.

The young lad that’s been in goal at Bridgy been decent as well. Think he’s had some big teams looking at him so it’s tough on him to be replaced.

Just seen @Portland Bill post though, didn’t know he got sent off last night!

Clevedon Town fell away a bit in Toolstation Prem, hopefully manage to put a few wins back together & challenge Bridgy/Helston ‘til the end though.

Me and my mates start songs when the group (s82) with the drum, starts sings that shit “Bristol City oley” song or other shit songs. We aren’t teenagers.

What sort of songs/chants would you like to hear?

I know a lot of the boys in S82, they get far too much stick for trying to improve the atmosphere I think. Some of the displays they’ve done have been excellent. (Ignore the attempts at surfing a flag across the South Stand though, our fans really can’t grasp how to do that for some reason)

Perhaps the megaphone is a bit too much, but remember the bloke in the EE 15 years ago that used to sing threshing machine pissed right up through one, people didn’t seem to mind that.

I think they’d be open to giving a game ago using the standard old ones & see how it goes, but I do believe it’s been tried before & still had the same issues regarding more people joining in.

I agree with almost all of your choices apart from Mehmeti. I think there is a player there who is comfortable accepting the ball and he deserves some time and a run in the team. He may come good, he may not, but we don't really have anyone else like him.

The only other one i'm slightly unsure about is Tanner. If he's a back up right back then maybe, but i just don't think he's good enough to be starting regularly.

Your comments & a couple of others regarding the loss of experience in the upcoming summer, reminded me of this tweet regarding senior players from NP when he left.

I guess that would’ve been a major disagreement between NP/BT regarding who was getting new contracts.

When City lost Basso, Orr & Trundle all in the same summer around 2010 I always felt like we lost 3 players that were great for the squad morale etc. I’m not suggesting we keep players around purely for those purposes but it could be counter productive to let so many go all at once.

Weimann & Williams are big characters & will be missed much like the three mentioned above. I’d definitely be looking to keep Williams, but I can’t make my mind up on Weimann.

None of us know how good of a coach King is, so can’t judge him on that but what we have all seen is how much Scott/Conway get on with him so he must’ve been good for them.

  10. His (and Peps) constant moaning over the Christmas period fixtures & FA cup replays winds me up.

They knew what they were signing up for before managing here, fed up with what seems to be the constant battles  there are each year with them two over the English game.

Wont miss all his moaning one bit.

MOM awarded today. Has had an up and down season with injury. When fit and playing is solid in defence, bossing the right side although after conceding an early goal you could tell their heads were down again conceding not long after. Today he was moved to a more forward role to make room for defender coming on and Aaron took the place of our injured striker. Not sure why he was moved there as we still had a striker on the bench, but Aaron scored so hey what do I know. 🤣. He looks confident on the ball, dominant in the air and doesn't look out of place playing up front. Pity he couldn't nick a winner as Chippenham were dominant in the second half especially when Hemel Hempstead went down to 10 men, only for us to lose to a dubious penalty (couldn't see it from where I was standing). All in all a solid player who looks good at this level.

Played up front for most of his football league appearances.

Was always a ST/CB which I always found interesting because can’t be too many of them about!

  12. Went to watch Roman Glass v Worcester City on Wednesday night.

Fixture was very well supported by the Worcester City fans, big fanbase for the level. Think they average about 400-500 at home. Must’ve had about 80-100 or so there.

Roman Glass going well still though, in 4th currently, so will be hoping they get in the play offs.

Be going to Clevedon Town v St Blazey tomorrow if it stays on.

IMHO L.A. is a player who would fit in very well into our squad today. A player with bags of energy but lacking in technical ability.
When he attacked no one knew where he was going , least of all Luke, which added to his efficiency because he was unplayable.

He has done brilliantly for himself like another of his ilk , Bradley Orr.

I think Luke Ayling is quite a bit ahead of Bradley Orr if we’re talking technical ability.

This isn’t me saying Orr was bad technically either, he was one of my favourite players ever & a real 100%er, gutted when he left us.

I am really surprised you see Ayling that way. I thought he was very good on the ball & wouldn’t have lasted as long in PL if he wasn’t.

  14. Went to Bridgwater v Clevedon Town yesterday. Was a very scrappy game, Bridgwater chairman not too happy on his Instagram after 😂

Also, not sure if I’ve missed it on this thread, but hearing that Taunton Town are in a world of trouble & struggling to even fill a side at the moment.

  15. Was it Andy Rolls who was head of the medical team at the time? Believe he left with Ashton but it could’ve been before.

Must’ve also been the time we had our ‘loan physio’ as well when Pearson first arrived.

So is he saying he raised it with the board and they said stay out of it.

Surely the first port of call is the medical team and you then come up with a plan. No boss will appreciate a conversation highlighting a problem without any thought into a solution to sort it?

  16. I was coaching at Bristol City at that time, where it was very much a culture of what the gaffer says goes. A culture of being dictated to. But along with my experience of working at Walsall with Dean Smith – who had a different approach – I decided I wanted to encourage others to show leadership. Not because it looks good, but because I genuinely believe in it.

After I took over as Bristol City manager, we won 11 of the first 17 games in the 2020/21 Championship season. Unfortunately, we ended up having 17 players with injury problems. I’ve never seen it before, and don’t think I will again.

Earlier that year, the players had stopped overnight because of the pandemic. We came back, had a couple of weeks to prepare for the rest of the season, then there was a three-week break before the next pre-season. Later, we had all these tendon issues. Injuries where hamstrings were being ripped off the bone in a really innocuous sprint.

I said: “Let’s look into this, because we don't want it to continue.” But there was a lot of off-the-field politics going on at the time. You want people in the building who say: “I didn’t spot that, nice one.” No agenda, no ‘stay in your lane’. That’s how I am.

It was my job to raise concerns to the people above me. But it was at a time when we had lost five games on the spin, so my position was weak. I don’t regret doing it, because senior players were coming to me and raising their concerns. Now, I would handle it differently in terms of how I approach going to the owner of the football club. Although the owners deserve to know what is going on inside the club, it is about picking battles at the right time.

(Apologies if this has already been posted, I did have a quick look and couldn’t see anything regarding it)
